Chapter 357: Devil wants the baby dead

Valencia twisted and turned in her sleep.

Maverick had been lying beside her to comfort her so she could sleep peacefully. However, he received a call from Theo, and not wanting to disturb her sleep since she had fallen asleep after struggling for quite some time, he walked out of the room to talk.

"What is it, Theo?" Maverick asked.

"Is Valencia available, Alpha Maverick?" Theo asked, and when Maverick said she was sleeping, he sighed.

"Well, I am sure you also know that Matilda, Ethan, and Glacier were involved in the conspiracy, so I wanted to know if Valencia wanted to decide on any punishment for the girl," Theo said.

Maverick sighed.

"How is her position? I am sure she must’ve been shocked after hearing what happened to her so-called plan and partner in crime," Maverick asked.

Theo hummed and told the alpha that the girl hadn’t left her house since then and had behaved like a docile pack member.

"In that case, leave her be. However, keep a close eye on her. Since Ethan and Glacier are dead, if she still plans to attack Valencia, I won’t think twice before killing her and her baby this time. Now things are different on our side as I will make Valencia my Luna," Maverick said.

Theo understood Alpha Maverick’s point of view. He had also heard the news about Valencia’s pregnancy, and knowing that Matilda might attack her, he kept the news hidden from his friends. Otherwise, the rogues might spread the news to everyone, which was the last thing everyone wanted to happen.

"Also," Theo paused.

Maverick waited for the man to say something, but when he didn’t, he asked what he wanted to talk about, and Theo pressed his lips into a thin line.

"Can you tell Valencia that Jason gathered some information about the Phoenix Blood pack and that Tory gained some information she had asked him about?" Theo said.

Maverick sensed that the information Tory was asked to gather was something that Theo was unsure if he should tell him. However, he didn’t want to pry too much. If Valencia would deem it fit, she will tell him everything herself.

At the same time, Valencia breathed heavily as she found herself in what looked like a forest. However, it was a peculiar forest.

The trees were quite tall, but almost all of them were pitch black. There was no grass under her foot. Just dry gray-colored leaves. If she couldn’t feel the living substance in the forest, she might’ve even wondered if the forest had been set on fire earlier.

As she walked around the forest, trying to find a way out, Valencia felt the devil’s presence again and paused.

She had known she was dreaming and had hoped to get out of the place before the devil appeared.

Then again, if the devil wanted to meet her, did he need for her to fall asleep when he had the power to take her soul away?

Was there any use in running from him when she knew she couldn’t run anywhere in the world where he wouldn’t find her?

Valencia took a deep breath and faced the devil inside her dream.

"You are not running away from me anymore," The devil stated.

Valencia didn’t say anything. She kept looking into his eyes, standing motionless.

The devil smiled at her.

"I know what you’re trying to do. You think if you stay still and do not reply to me, I will leave your headspace sooner, right?" The devil asked.

He could see her thought process, and Valencia pressed her lips into a thin line.

She couldn’t see any use in pretending and, thus, said,

"Why have you come here? What do you want from me? Whether I can kill you or not will be decided during the battle. Why do you keep haunting my dreams? What do you want to prove to me? Do you think scaring me like this will break me?" Valencia asked.

The devil smiled at her before scoffing and shaking his head.

Scaring her? Yes. That was indeed on his mind.

"Well, you see, Valencia. Getting killed by you is the last of my concerns. I am here to tell you that I didn’t like it. The fact that you got pregnant from another man hurt my ego, and my brain hasn’t been processing things nicely," The devil said.

Realizing that this was down to her baby, a hint of fear appeared in Valencia’s mind, and she placed her hand over her abdomen to protect it.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"What I mean is that you should enjoy your time with the baby rather than training since your baby won’t be alive for long. I will kill that abomination in your womb that is a sign of how you betrayed my love. Even when I told you I don’t want your heart for my heart but your love so we can have a baby, how could you have a baby with another man?" The devil paused before he stepped ahead.

The devil didn’t invade Valencia’s privacy, but as soon as he raised his hand to grab her chin, it almost felt like he was breathing into her ears.

"Let it be known to your wolf and your mate that you are mine, Valencia. I will be the only man for you. You will only have my baby, and this baby will die," The devil placed his hand on Valencia’s abdomen, and her eyes widened when she realized what he was trying to do.

A man who can call her soul out of her body to have a meeting can do anything.

Scared that the devil might kill her baby, Valencia placed her hand on his as she saw black smog coming out of his mouth.

No. No. She can’t allow this. She will have to protect her baby.

"No! You can’t do this to my baby!" Valencia screamed at the top of her lungs as she tried her best to remove the hand of the devil that wasn’t leaving her womb in her dream.
