Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 356: Meeting Alfonso
Chapter 356: Meeting Alfonso
VALENCIA’S POV
One. Two. Three. Attack! I chanted in my mind every time before releasing the arrow. That’s exactly what I have been doing for the past two hours.
It was tiring, but after seeing the devil again in the royal hall, one thing was for sure. No matter what I feel or what kind of happiness comes into my life, this sore thorn in my life won’t go out until I get rid of it myself, and to be able to kill the devil, I will have to become powerful to be able to kill him.
If I don’t continue practicing, I won’t be able to do anything.
Even the weapon that would kill him was ready.
"Are you training, baby?" Maverick’s voice stopped me, and I turned to look at him. His glistening body was dripping sweat, a clear indication that he had returned from training, making me sigh.
"Kind of. Is your training over?" I asked, and he nodded.
"Do you Need any help with stretching or anything?" he asked, and I shook my head before lifting my brow.
Maverick waited a few minutes before telling me he would take a shower. I was about to nod at him when I remembered everything.
"I want to meet Alfonso, Maverick," I said before releasing the arrow that hit the target straight at the center.
The change in his aura and energy told me he didn’t fancy the idea, and I sighed.
"Must you meet him? I don’t want that murderer anywhere near you, not when you are pregnant with our child. I would be a fool if I took that kind of risk even after knowing what kind of person he was," Maverick said.
I pressed my lips into a thin line.
Even after so many days, Tory and Jason were yet to find anything that could prove Alfonso’s innocence or about the remaining members of the Phoenix blood pack.
"Maverick, I know you love me a lot and want to keep me safe from all kinds of harm but trust me, he won’t hurt me. He once saved my life. Besides, he is the only biological family member left from your side. He deserves to know," I pleaded, blinking my eyes innocently at him, and he sighed.
I knew his resolution was breaking, but that was still not enough for him to allow me to meet him, so I resorted to my last option.
"Will you not fulfill the wish of your baby’s mother?" I asked.
Maverick groaned loudly before ruffling his hair.
"You will be the death of me, I swear. End this training session and have some rest. I will take you there after the meeting with the lycans," Maverick said, and I smiled victoriously.
Placing the bow and arrow back into their original place, I walked out from the training room, only to be attacked by the elder ladies of the pack.
"Luna, are you done? You shouldn’t have trained for so long. It’s good that you are not straining yourself. Are you craving something?"
"Luna, do you want to eat my cookies again? I just made a fresh batch,"
"If not for something sweet, are you craving something sour? I have made a lemonade at home,"
"Do you want to eat some pickles? I have freshly prepared pickle water, and you will feel refreshed immediately after drinking it,"
The ladies said one after the other, and I felt awkward.
This has been the ordeal from the moment we returned to the pack, and they heard I was pregnant.
"You guys step aside. Let me see if our Lua is alright," Doctor Sarah walked forward and took me to her clinic room beside my training area, where Maverick got Shado to prepare for me to [practice my archery.
I looked at Doctor Sarah awkwardly.
"Everything is fine, Sarah. You don’t need to check me after every session. I am sure you have other work to do," I said.
"What other work? The alpha has brought me into the pack just for you. I am supposed to treat you only and ensure you are not stressed. You are to be attended to after every session so the baby stays healthy because our alpha recognizes your need to train to become stronger," Sarah said.
’Our mate is so thoughtful,’ Aurora swooned, and I smiled at her before agreeing.
She was right.
Alpha Maverick was just too attentive about everything. Even as the strongest beast alpha with so much work to look into, he was taking such good care of me, keeping everything in mind, even thinking about things that skipped my mind. He was the perfect man in every manner.
After Sarah thoroughly checked me, I walked to our house because Sarah said it was good to walk for the baby when I met Liam and Shadow.
"Has the baby kicked yet, Luna?" Liam asked excitedly, earning himself a smack from Shadow, and I chuckled at the excited man.
"It’s still time for that, Liam," I said.
He made an oh sound before greeting me again as Shadow practically dragged him away from me so he wouldn’t annoy me more after telling me their alpha was at the meeting room, something I already knew about.
Honestly, I can’t believe how much joy a single life can bring everyone. Everyone was just so happy after finding out I was pregnant with their alpha’s child that it made my heart flutter.
Sometimes, I wonder how good it would’ve been if Maverick and my parents had been alive, too. They would’ve been so happy and celebrated this period so much.
No matter how much love everyone shows to us, their love will always be missed.
Shaking my head, I walked inside the house for a warm, calming bath.
As soon as I exited the bath and dressed, I saw Maverick entering the house and walking inside the kitchen.
"Are we ready to go?" I asked Maverick, who looked at me before sighing.
"And here I was hoping you would forget about it," He said, holding my hand nonetheless and leading me towards the dungeons.
"Will you come inside to meet him with me?" I asked.
Maverick’s eyes turned a shade darker. I know that was the last thing he wanted to do, but keeping my protection in mind, he entered the cell with an unhappy smile, and I squeezed his hand tight, making him sigh.
’Don’t expect me to smile," Maverick said, his loud voice enough to catch Alfonos’s attention, who looked at us while the guard stepped ahead and unlocked the door.
"Brother," Alfonso said, and Maverick growled at him.
"I am no brother of yours," Maverick said.
"Maverick," I pressed my lips into a thin line, placing my hand on his heaving chest. He sighed before looking away, calming slowly.
"It’s okay, Valencia. I have come to terms with his anger. What brought you here?" Alfonso asked as he looked at me, and I sighed.
"How are you?" I asked before shaking my head.
What kind of question was it even? Though Maverick was providing him with good food and the living conditions inside Alfonso’s cell were still better than others, as he was provided with a mattress, it was still a prison.
"Much better than before," Alfonso still answered me, and Maverick scoffed.
"If you are going to scoff and make fun just like that, you can leave," I said, and Maverick crossed his arms, not leaving nonetheless.
I rolled my eyes at him before stepping a little forward.
"I came here to share some happy news with you. As Maverick’s only living family member, you deserve to know. I... Maverick and I are expecting a baby. You will be an uncle soon," I whispered.
I saw Alfonso’s eyes widen before they brimmed with tears, his gaze shifting to my womb.
"My kids won’t call him uncle," Maverick said stubbornly, and I sighed.
"Is that so? My kids will say that," I said, glaring at him. He looked into my eyes briefly before turning his head, knowing all too well that arguing with a pregnant lady was useless.
"I am truly happy for both of you. I don’t expect much, but just like you come here from time to time, can you show me your kid’s face once you give birth?" Alfonso looked at me earnestly, his gaze shifting to Maverick as if he was anticipating a sarcastic comeback, but much to our surprise, Maverick didn’t say anything this time.
"I will get you out of here before that," I told him, making a promise to myself.
"Well, that’s enough. I have other matters to look into," Maverick said. I held his hand and smiled at Alfonso, who smiled genuinely at me before waving his hand.
I sighed, making a mental note to remind Tory about something that could...
Wait. I felt my pupils dilating when I remembered something.
Right. Some of Glacier’s rogues were caught, weren’t they? What if they could help us with something since Glacier had once hinted that the attack was performed by him at that time too?
I made a mental note to ask Axile to allow Tory to gather evidence since they were in royal dungeons. This should put some light on Alfonso’s innocence and help the brothers mend their bond.
’That would be great if it happened,’ Aurora said, and I hummed.
