Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 347: Ethan’s stupidity
Chapter 347: Ethan’s stupidity
THIRD PERSON’S POV
Maverick pulled the arrow from the ground and looked at the attached note.
"Caught you," The note said, and Maverick’s gaze darkened.
"Stay alert," Maverick mouthed to Shadow, signaling for everyone to be on their highest senses.
It wasn’t long before they smelt the afterburning smell of rogues that appeared closer than ever. Judging from the way it was coming from all directions around them, it was clear that they were surrounded.
Maverick’s expression showed no changes or a hint of fear or panic.
"Well, isn’t this our amazing and capable Alpha Maverick," Prince Ethan smirked as he looked at Maverick.
Maverick didn’t comment as he gazed at all the rogues that were coming out from inside the forests.
Seeing how they were wearing armor and everything, one thing was clear. They were prepared for the fight.
"Alpha-" Shadow started, and Maverick turned to look at his subordinate.
"Are you afraid?" He asked.
Shadow shook his head.
"Not at all. I was just wondering if we should call Luna and tell her we would be late. She must be worried," Shadow said.
Hearing his words of nonchalance, Ethan felt like the man was trying to insult him as he was standing before them with more than 200 rogues, and rather than being worried for their lives, they were wondering if they should call a bitch and tell her they would be late.
Late? Were they so sure that they would make it out of here alive? It was both insulting and comical to him.
"You and your people have a way of insulting people standing before you, no?" Ethan asked.
Maverick hummed, not even denying it.
"We tend to insult dishonest and spineless people. Did you feel insulted just now?" Maverick asked.
Ethan smiled.
He nodded in understanding.
"Laugh, Alpha Maverick. Laugh all you want. After killing you, we will be laughing too," Ethan said.
Maverick quirked his brows.
"If I were you, I wouldn’t make such baseless points. Will you kill me? You?" Maverick mocked Ethan, and he gritted his teeth.
Without thinking twice, Ethan lunged forward towards Maverick to kill him.
The rogues, unsure of what to do, were shocked for a few seconds, and those seconds gave Maverick’s team enough leeway as they struck first.
Since the rogues were wearing armor, Maverick’s team attacked their heads, twisting their heads to kill them as easily as possible.
Within five minutes, the rogue team was almost down, and a few people from Maverick’s team were injured.
Ethan gritted his teeth as he raised his fist to punch the alpha.
However, Maverick had anticipated this move. He dodged easily before striking himself.
Shadow and Greta quickly started helping their team, which was injured by the rogues. Some of them lost too much blood.
Though their fight was short, it left a pungent smell of blood and the horror of the deaths hanging in the air.
"I don’t think I will be able to leave here alive. You guys should leave me," one of the subordinates was bitten by three rogues because he wasn’t as fast as their leaders and snapped the head of the rogues.
Shadow saw the demotivated expression on his face and was about to console him when he felt something was wrong.
As mentioned by Ethan earlier, there were two hundred rogues. How come they were able to kill all of them so easily, incurring only a few injuries?
As stupid as he looked, Ethan wouldn’t have brought people who couldn’t have backed him up.
Shadow looked up at Greta, and both of them shared the same thoughts.
They never counted the number of deaths on the rogue’s side. Everything happened so suddenly.
Greta nodded at Shadow and was about to start counting the rogues when the thing they had dreaded happened.
Glacier appeared before them with a rogue team far larger than before, and they realized that many rogues had run off earlier.
Seeing Ethan and Maverick fighting each other, with Maverick on the verge of killing Ethan, Glacier rolled his eyes.
He knew that Ethan was naturally a little sharper than them after living in the royal palace for so long. Though he perfectly orchestrated the murder of his stepmother, it was far different from handling a man like Alpha Maverick.
Glacier shook his head.
Ethan should’ve known that the person he was fighting against wasn’t a normal alpha who hit the strongest alpha in the world.
Which fool told him he was going to win like this?
Maverick, who saw Glacier out of the corner of his eyes, knew that handling Glacier wouldn’t be easy since they had fought before, and the man was famous for his underhanded tricks, not to mention the kind of army he brought.
Like he had thought, Glacier brought something out of his pocket, and Maverick’s eyes widened.
As soon as Glacier threw the thing at him, he quickly turned around, making Ethan take the shot.
It was a needle laced with wolfsbane that would slow down his healing.
Maverick clenched his teeth.
On the other hand, Glacier cursed out loud while Ethan screamed in agony at the weird sensation in his body.
He turned around to see Glacier and could only think that the man was turning against him.
"You!" Ethan shouted.
He wanted to deal with Maverick first and continued fighting, losing his strength slowly.
He stumbled forward as he aimed for Maverick’s gut to punch him.
However, Maverick, seeing his condition, smirked.
He kicked the guy away before stepping over him and walking straight towards Glacier.
Ethan raised his hand to call him because the fight wasn’t over, but he was too helpless and powerless to move.
"Opting for underhanded tricks again?" Maverick asked as he jerked his hand to remove the foreign blood from his hands.
Glacier smirked.
"What can I say? I am a rogue for a reason. Besides, you haven’t even seen half of what I have done and am going to do," Glacier smirked proudly.
Maverick found his statement a bit weird and was about to ask what he meant when Glacier suddenly shouted, "Attack!"
Shadow and his team immediately sprung to their feet, ready to fight the rogues, while Glacier jumped on Maverick to put him down for once and all.
"I thought I would be dealing with you later, but this is the perfect time and opportunity," Glacier said.
He took out his sword, and Maverick grabbed the sword of one of the rogues who had been killed by Greta and thrown down.
He countered the attack from Glacier with his sword, but it was a little too late. The speed sliced his bicep a little.
Maverick knocked the guy away by kicking him in the abdomen before looking at the wound on his hand.
As he looked at the blood that oozed out of his body, he found something strange.
This blood, the way it was clotting....
Maverick’s pupils dilated.
The sword Glacier was using was laced with wolfsbane.
While Maverick was becoming immune to wolfsbane because he had developed a habit of sharing blood with Valencia, who loved to drink wolfsbane, it was the silver in the sword that concerned him.
Why? Because it was enough to make him lose his sense of sanity and for his wolf to lose control over their form.
"Rrrrrr!" A growl left Maverick’s mouth as the beast alpha inside him fought to be released.
