Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 345: A bad news?
Chapter 345: A bad news?
THIRD PERSON’S POV
Valencia reached the royal palace shortly after, and she was immediately welcomed by Dilbar, who rushed down the stairs when she heard Luna Valencia had arrived.
"Luna Valencia, I have been waiting for you. Let me show you to your room." Dilbar’s enthusiasm for being there for her after seeing her previous actions was quite hard to digest, and Valencia smiled.
She forced herself not to place her hand on her abdomen instinctively, something she had been doing for the past thirty minutes.
She could not let anyone other than her pack members know that she was pregnant without consulting Alpha Maverick.
"Is Axile here?" Valencia asked.
Dilbar nodded and looked at the random security guard.
"Call Prince Axile. Tell him his... his best friend, Luna Valencia, is here," Dilbar said.
Valencia curled her brows but didn’t say anything regarding the matter. She was sure Dilbar was about to say something else earlier. But she didn’t want to pry more into the matter.
Soon, Axile walked to the hall they were in, and his gaze softened when it fell on the woman he once fancied as a romantic interest.
"Luna Valencia," the man said, bowing to her on his knees. He took her hand and gently pecked the back of it.
His little act was more than enough for everyone to know how much he respected the woman and how important her safety should be to them.
"Have you sent Maverick on some kind of mission? Ask him to secure the borders from the southern regions?" Valencia asked without delay.
She needed to know when her man was returning so she could tell him the good news that was getting hard to contain.
"Southern regions? What are you talking about? I have no such knowledge. All I know is that the head of the security team came to me and said Alpha Maverick asked for a group of trusted men from our side because he found some lead," Axile said.
Valencia turned to look at Liam, who told me it was a royalty mission.
The man who had just entered the palace felt caught in the act.
"Trust me, Luna. That’s all I know," Liam raised his hand in surrender.
Valencia pressed her lips into a thin line.
She had decided against calling him because she didn’t want to disturb his work. However, after learning that he was into something no one knew about and that Glacier had been recruiting troops to hurt them, Valencia grew anxious and dialed Maverick’s number.
’Sorry. The number you have called is currently switched off.’ The automatic voice came from the other side.
"Call others," Valencia orders Liam.
She needed to know that her man was safe and sound before she could reprimand him for not telling her where he went.
"Valencia, Maverick isn’t a normal alpha. He knows how to handle stuff. He will be safe. Are you hungry?" Axile asked, knowing all too well about her love for food after stalking her for some time.
"It’s exactly because he is not a normal alpha that he has become the target of so many people," Valencia said.
She didn’t want to eat anything. Her mind was too foggy to eat something in peace.
But...
"I think Prince is right, Luna. In this condition, you should eat more," Charlotte said.
"In this condition? What’s wrong with her?" Axile stepped ahead, genuinely worried.
"She has been training herself too much, and the doctor has recommended that her body have a good recovery or it will reach its breaking point. She even fainted at the borders." Lovely quickly covered Charlotte’s slip-up, and Valencia smiled gratefully.
Axile narrowed his brows.
"I know there is something you haven’t been telling me about, and I know it’s because I have yet to gain your full trust. Or why do you need to train so hard? I will work hard to gain your trust," Axile said.
Valencia hummed at him before following him to the dining room for snacks.
Though Valencia appeared normal, her thoughts alternated between whether Maverick was alright and whether she should leave.
He knows she grows anxious quickly, and thus, he never really turns his phone off.
Was he in a place with poor signal? That could make sense, but why hadn’t he called her even once since morning? It was so not like him.
Liam said he talked to the alpha, but it was so early in the morning.
She couldn’t believe Maverick had forgotten about her while at work. Something had to be the issue.
She took a few bites of the snacks placed before her, her heart growing anxious.
It was as if her gut feeling was telling her something was wrong, and the thought alone that he was probably struggling out there while she was enjoying lavishness in the royal palace was repulsive to her.
"Where exactly did he go? I will go and look for him myself," Valencia stood abruptly from her seat, unable to take it anymore.
Liam and the other two also stood by her side.
"Luna, you need to calm down. Alpha is all alright. I am trying to reach the others, but it looks like they are at a place with poor signal," Liam tried to soothe her.
Valencia shook her head.
"You don’t understand, Liam. He loves me too much to not care for me and ring me up even once. It’s been 12 hours already. Something is up," Valencia said.
She started walking out of the dining hall and was about to exit when she saw Theo entering the venue with Kyle by his side.
When Theo noticed her frustrated expression, he walked to her in long strides.
"What’s the matter, Cia?" Theo asked, holding her hands just like in older times.
"That’s Luna Valencia to you. And whose hands do you think you are touching!" Liam roared from behind and quickly strode forward, removing Theo’s hands.
He looked like a kid who was angry that his mom had been touched by another kid, and he was ready to throw his hands up if needed.
Theo ignored his outburst and looked at Valencia who massaged her forehead.
"I don’t know, Theo. Maverick has been going to the southern regions since midnight and hasn’t contacted me ever since. His last call to Liam was around 5 in the morning about how I should have a safe journey, and he would meet me here, but..." Valencia couldn’t complete her sentence when Theo interrupted her.
"Wait. Southern regions? Did he go alone? Why did you allow him? Didn’t you see my message about Matilda planning something with Prince Ethan and Glacier and their gathering in the southern regions? Matilda returned last night but I am afraid..." Theo trailed off.
Valencia’s eyes widened.
"What message? I didn’t receive any message," Valencia said before her mind went to the time when she had returned from taking a shower after training and Maverick was holding her phone.
She had asked him what he was doing with her phone and she felt like she heard the sound of an incoming message but Maverick said it was his phone.
The fact that Theo warned her and Maverick probably took that as a lead to take down the rogues from the southern regions because they were planning to attack today left her baffled.
"I can’t leave him alone. I have to be there," Valencia said, pushing against Lovely, who was holding her, and walking out of the royal palace.
"Valencia, where are you going? It’s not safe out there," Theo said while Valencia’s phone rang with an incoming message.
As soon as she saw the message’s content, her eyes widened, and the phone slipped from her hand.
Liam who was quick on his reflexes and saw the message, froze in his place.
"Want to see your man for one last time?" the message asked. Attached to it was a photo of the back of a man in the forest with a group of people, and there was no doubt that it was Alpha Maverick.
Liam gulped.
