Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 338: Cunning minds
Chapter 338: Cunning minds
THIRD PERSON’S POV
After ensuring his woman was fast asleep, Maverick couldn’t help but sigh with contentment as he took her to their private house.
He wanted to enjoy this evening with her, and hearing her genuine laughter fill the air as she enjoyed the ride was everything he needed to hear to keep his mind sane.
Maverick knew things were taking a darker turn. Whether things were turning for better or for worse was hard to decipher, given how discoveries about Valencia’s curse were coming forward.
"What happened to Luna, sir? She was fine when she went to the forest," Liam and Shadow rushed as soon as they saw their alpha carrying their Luna inside the pack with their Luna’s clothes all soiled up.
Maverick rolled his eyes.
Did they think something would happen to her in his presence? Wait. Were they suspicious that he would let something happen to her and watch like an onlooker? The thought made his wolf’s brows narrow, and he looked at his men, who sensing his glare, cleared their throats and stepped back.
"She is tired after playing and has fallen asleep," Maverick answered, and Shadow and Liam nodded.
Shadow was about to leave when he remembered he had originally wanted to report something to his alpha and turned to look at his leader.
"Sir," He started.
Maverick walked inside the house and gently placed Valencia on the couch, covering her with a quilt so he could keep her before himself as he worked on the important documents. He kissed her forehead before focusing on Shadow and urging him to walk out of the house.
"What is it?" he asked.
"A guy named Tobias arrived a few minutes ago and said he wanted to meet Luna. When I told him she was busy, he said he was ready to wait, and it was something about the deal with the royals," Shadow said,
Maverick remembered the deal and asked Shadow to bring Tobias here. It was better to talk with the guy and book the flight tickets since he knew his woman was adamant about going to the place and seeing the situation herself.
He wouldn’t lie if he said he wasn’t curious. Everything about his woman greatly intrigued him, and he wanted to be there for her.
At the same time, in the no-man’s land near the Garlands Pack, Matilda walked towards the cave with her maids, as she had been invited by the one person she thought could help her with her revenge plan.
She had never felt so humiliated in her entire life as much as she felt at the presence of Valencia in the pack as her superior. Not only did she thoroughly embarrass her before everyone, but she successfully turned the entire pack against her.
Because of Valencia’s words and how she deemed her useless in Luna’s position and with her new Alpha, someone loyal to Valencia, in effect, she was nothing more than a breeding cow who was supposed to give birth to their alpha’s heir.
Valencia shattered her dignity, self-respect, pride, and everything, and she wanted to avenge everything she felt.
When she reached the caves, she was stopped by two men who looked at her inquisitively. And why not? The rogues inhabited this area, and she was a pack wolf.
"I am here to meet your boss. He has invited me," Matilda said before unlocking her phone and showing them the invitation from the rogue group.
The men looked at each other before nodding in some code language only they could understand.
One of them went inside and returned after a few seconds.
"Boss is expecting you," he said, and Matilda rolled her eyes before entering the cave.
She looked behind at her maids from the Hazel Moon Pack, who were quite loyal to her and had supported her in all her endeavors, and asked them to stop at some distance.
The maids nodded before stepping back.
They saw Matilda walking inside after a man came outside to accompany her and pulled out their phones.
"Sir, we are here. We aren’t sure who these people are or what they plan, but they are certainly rogues. According to Matilda’s words, she came here after receiving an invitation from the boss," One of the maids typed and sent the message.
After becoming the Alpha, Theo’s first job was to see how many people were loyal to the pack and how many of them were siding with the named parties. As soon as he recognized the people who were known for creating trouble and could become a nuisance in the future, he gave them a proposal of a better life at Pack if they became loyal to him.
It wasn’t an easy job. But after working under Valencia for so long and handling the troubling rogues for her, he had more than enough experience on what to use to make people side with him.
When Theo received the message from the maid, he massaged his forehead and looked at Kyle.
"Is this the kind of Luna tour pack I was really vouching for? Someone who has been a past offender and involved with the rogues and was doing it again?" Theo asked.
Kyle looked down in shame, and Theo sighed.
"You don’t need to be ashamed of other’s actions. For now, don’t make a move or sound. No one shall know about it. I will ask Valencia what I should do with her since I am sure she has a home to meet the rogues to avenge her humiliation. I will handle it if she is planning an attack here, but if she is planning an attack on Valencia, I will ensure she lives her life in prison,"
Theo stood from his place and put on his coat before walking out, finally calling it a day before Kyle.
However, after reaching his room, he immediately messaged Tory, describing what was happening.
[Focus on running the pack. I will handle it.] Tory’s message came shortly, and Theo breathed a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, inside the caves, as soon as Matilda reached where the so-called boss was sitting, to say she was surprised would be an understatement.
"Is this some kind of trap?" She asked, her gaze not moving from Prince Ethan, who was sitting there with Glacier.
Ethan raised his brows before looking at Glacier for an explanation.
Glacier smirked before standing from his place and raring his hands in surrender.
"Don’t look at me like that. Both of you contacted me for the same reason. To kill Valencia and Maverick. Haven’t you heard that the enemy of an enemy is a friend?" Glacier sipped his wine while Matilda looked at Ethan, something strange catching her eye.
Unlike usual times when he was well dressed and groomed, Ethan looked quite roughened up. It was almost as if he was cosplaying the role of a peasant.
"Why do you want to kill them? Wait. You and your sister had indeed planned it all, and my Tyler died because of it," Matilda stood abruptly, almost losing her balance if not for the wall support.
"Don’t call her my sister!" Ethan stood, slamming his glass on the ground, breaking it into tiny shards, making Matilda cover her abdomen instinctively.
Glacier looked between the two with an amused tone. He could clear the air between them himself, but where was the fun in that?
"Oh, so now she is not your sister. But at that time, you didn’t step back from supporting her even when she was your half—" Matilda stopped.
Right. How could she forget about it? Prince Ethan wasn’t the King’s legal son. He was Dilbar’s half-sibling.
Could the real heir to the throne return, and they throw Ethan away? Matilda’s sharp brain started to act out as she calculated the timing of everything.
"No way. Is the heir back? How is that even possible?" Matilda asked, momentarily shocked.
Ethan, for whom this topic was still a sore spot, glared at the woman.
"If I were you, I would choose my words carefully," he said.
Matilda gazed at him before sighing and looking at Glacier.
"I am not here to talk to anyone about their miseries when my life is full of problems because of that bitch. I am here to ask whether you can help me or not?" Matilda asked, talking straightforwardly.
"What exactly do you need me to do?" Glacier asked.
Matilda shook her head. She hadn’t decided on anything specific. As long as Valencia was suffering, dying in agony, her smirks and smiles turning to painful cries, she was okay with anything and just everything.
"I don’t know. All I know is that I should be able to hear her screams all the way to the Hazel Moon pack. Make her death a lesson for everyone if that is what is needed," Matilda said.
"Count me in for this desire. If it hadn’t been for her, who poked her nose in my business and brought that heir out of the blue, it would’ve been getting crowned in a couple of days," Ethan gritted his teeth, and Glacier ummed.
"That makes the three of us since that bitch has been ruining my plans for quite some time, and I want to kill Maverick with my bare hands. Lucky for you, I just have the right kind of plan for that," Glacier smiled cunningly.
