Chapter 337: Spend some time together

VALENCIA’S POV

What was going on? I wondered as I walked inside the forest towards the lake, feeling clueless.

Around thirty minutes ago, Shadow informed me that they received a note on the door stating that someone wanted to meet me at the lake.

I asked him if he knew who that person was, but he said it didn’t have a name, and they couldn’t see who delivered the letter.

What was even strange was that Maverick was nowhere in sight, and the Pack members didn’t accompany me this time.

Was something happening that I didn’t know about?

As I was immersed in my thoughts, I heard a familiar voice and turned around to see Lovely running towards me.

I breathed in relief.

"Sorry, Luna. I didn’t know you were leaving the premises. I rushed here as soon as I found out," She said, and I hummed.

After some time, I was almost near the lake, and to say I was surprised would be an understatement.

Before me was a beautiful setup. Rose bouquets paved a path towards the center, where two chairs were placed around a round table with a large rose bouquet in between.

Small lights lit up the area and made it even more mesmerizing, almost nighttime, adorning the view.

Red and white ribbons and balloons decorated the area, and I sighed.

"What is going on here?" I asked and turned around only to find Lovely absent from her previous place.

As I looked around for any source to tell me what this was all about, I heard a swoosh sound, and an arrow was shot near my foot.

I raised my brows and walked forward, grabbing the note.

"Isn’t this a beautiful evening?"

The note said, and I smiled at the familiar handwriting.

Another arrow was shot at my foot, and I removed the note attached to the arrow.

"Do you like it?" He asked.

"I love it, Maverick. But I would prefer it if you could ask me these questions yourself. Your absence makes me anxious, you know," I said, loud enough for him to hear if he was somewhere around me.

"Is that so?" I heard his whisper and turned around, only to be met by a soft pair of lips landing on mine.

I didn’t waste a second in reciprocating the kiss.

Placing my hand around his neck, I locked my hands to pull myself closer to him, wanting to feel his heartbeat against mine.

I can never get enough of this feeling. How can the moon goddess make a man as perfect as him? Everyone has their flaws, but to me, he is flawless.

When I look at him, all my hardships seem to disappear. This is the kind of effect he has on me.

Moving my lips against his, I opened my mouth slightly enough to let him push his tongue inside my mouth as I tasted his mint flavor, wanting and needing more.

F*ck, I was losing it.

Even kissing him like this was leaving me wanting for more, my abdomen pulsating with need.

I just call him naughty to tease him. Sometimes, I feel like I am the one who wants him more than he wants me.

"Baby," Maverick murmured against the kiss, and I moaned to let him know I was listening.

"If you keep allowing me to kiss you like this, I will end up doing something that I have in mind for later. And I swear I won’t stop until you are tired enough not to wake up till the morning," Maverick’s fingers brushed against my bra strap, and I blushed.

Though I wouldn’t admit it, wasn’t I exactly what I wanted to?

"Hmm," I hummed before removing my hands around his neck.

I stepped back to create some distance, and Maverick immediately pulled me back, my breasts hitting his chest, making me quirk my brows at him.

"Who said you can step away from me?" He asked before licking my bottom lip, making me smile.

"What is this all about?" I asked him, and he smiled.

He placed his hand around my waist before leading me down the paved path towards the center, where the two chairs were arranged.

"Well, I noticed how we barely get to enjoy each other’s presence without caring about anything else and celebrate little things due to the situation around us. So I arranged this to make you feel better," Maverick said.

I smiled at his thoughtfulness. Now I understood why no one accompanied me to the forests. They were probably secretly following me until I reached the lake near Maverick.

"Thank you so much for all this. I love it," I said, and Maverick beamed at me before helping me sit in one of the chairs.

He walked some distance and brought back the food in a minibar trolley. I was amazed at the variety of food he prepared, which left me baffled.

"This is too much, Maverick," I said.

He shook his head.

"It’s not too much. I want you to taste everything. If we cannot eat it, I will give the food to those in need. We’ll only take the amount we will eat on our plates. Don’t worry. It won’t be wasted," Maverick assured me, and I smiled in relief.

Once we were done eating, Maverick pulled me to the lake, where we sat with our feet dipped into the water, relaxing in the moonlight.

I placed my head on his shoulders, thinking about us.

"Maverick, when you met me, had you ever thought we would end up like this one day?" I asked him.

Maverick chuckled at my question, making me smile.

"Well, would it be wrong to say I had a gist? When I looked into your bluish-gray eyes, one of the rarest combinations, I knew my heart was a goner. The fiery look in your eyes mesmerized me and intrigued me to know more about you. I had forgotten why I was there to meet you in the first place," Maverick said.

I smiled at our first encounter, where Aurora had turned me into a cat when I was trying to run away.

Hehe, I had nearly bitten his nose, scratched his chest, and even licked his nipples at night in his pack house.

The thought of how wild I had gone with him makes me want to hide somewhere now.

Though those things were shameless, I won’t trade those memories for anything.

"What about you? When you met me, did you think about this kind of future?" Maverick looked at me hopefully, and I smiled.

He looked at me for a few seconds before chuckling.

"Why do I not want to know and want to know simultaneously?" He said, and I grinned.

"You know I hated alphas after what happened with Tyler. I honestly wanted to annoy you to hell at that time," I grinned, and he hummed before pecking my lips.

"Well, fate needed us to be together. How could you run away from me?" He mused.

After sitting there for some time, Maverick urged me to stand.

I looked at him, confused, when he suddenly turned into his wolf form, and I saw his massive black beast.

The wolf looked into my eyes, blinking innocently, and I grinned.

"Want me to ride you?" I asked.

The slight pause the wolf had while walking towards me was enough to tell me that was the last thing he had thought he would hear from me.

He nodded nonetheless, and like a happy kid, I jumped on his back, my feet not even reaching the ground as I held onto his fur for dear life.

He briefly gazed back to look at me to ensure I was well seated and once I told him we were ready to go, he jumped in the air, making me squeal.

I nearly screamed as he accelerated, running around the lake and stroking my hair with the wind.

The cool wind made me want to close my eyes, and knowing he wouldn’t let me fall, I did.

"Ahh, I love you, Maverick Aurelius!" I shouted at the top of my lungs, which was followed by a thundering howl from Reaper, and I chuckled.

"And his wolf Reaper, too," I added, making him howl again, this time more pleased.

This guy surely knows how to show his jealousy.

I sighed, feeling content.

It has been so long since I have felt this happy, and it was amazing how all the happy moments I can count on and think of belong with Maverick.

I placed my head down and hugged him tightly as he kept running around with me on his back, howling in between to keep me entertained.

I don’t know when it happened, but he slowed down, and I started to feel my eyes drooping.

He was so soft and comfortable that I wanted to sleep on top of him, and as much as I knew that wasn’t a good thing to do because he was in his animal form and wanted to spend some time with me like this, I just couldn’t control it.

As darkness started to take over me, I felt myself being gently placed on something soft, and a smile appeared on my lips.

"I love you too, my moonshine," I heard a deep and gruff voice, making me sigh before I fell asleep.
