Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 334: Commencing Theo’s ceremony

Chapter 334: Commencing Theo’s ceremony

VALENCIA’S POV

I was about to leave the meeting hall when Joseph’s voice stopped me.

"Where does that leave Matilda? As the person carrying the pack’s future alpha, shouldn’t she have any authority?" Joseph asked.

His question was valid.

Any other woman who had been carrying the future heir of the pack would’ve gotten at least a little authority, but Matilda? I didn’t want her to give her anything.

"If you really care about her welfare, then you should be happy that no one is putting any kind of work on her. All she needs to focus on is delivering a healthy baby," I said to Joseph before turning my gaze to Matilda.

"Apart from that, after the stunt she pulled with the royals, I don’t think she deserves any authority. She is lucky she is alive because she is pregnant," I said, deliberately using the royals.

Some elders agreed with me and told Joseph how his daughter shamed the entire pack, putting them on the negative side before the royals.

Joseph gritted his teeth as he looked at me.

"How can you be so cruel? She was your sister for so long?" Gemma said.

I smiled at the pretentious duo before turning around and letting Maverick lead me out of the hall.

"I can’t believe they are so thick skinned to keep rubbing it in your face repeatedly. What was so good about being her sister?" Shadow complained.

I shook my head and walked to the house with Maverick that Kyle had arranged for our resting.

Once inside, I immediately dropped the tough act and leaned into Maverick’s arms.

"Tired?" He asked and I smiled before nodding a little.

"Do you think it’s hard to take care of me? I become too tired easily these days. Even a little thing drains my energy," I said.

Maverick tucked my hair behind my ears before kissing my forehead.

"That’s completely normal. People in your position lose their sanity. You are only losing your energy. Besides, it’s not that you are alone to blame for this," Maverick said.

I blushed at the insinuation.

"Let’s eat something before continuing our search, okay?" Maverick asked, and I nodded.

~~~The next day~~~
Since we were too tired after the royals and travel ordeal, I didn’t venture out of the house to ask people about what I wanted to do.
When I walked out at six in the morning, I couldn’t help but scoff at my fate as I walked into the forests, reminiscing about the memories I had in this pack.
The torture and everything I went through were still fresh in my memories, and I couldn’t help but sigh.
"What happened to you was pitiful," I heard a voice behind me, and I turned to look at an old lady walking with her cane.
It looked like she was out on a morning walk, too.
I ignored the lady and turned to leave, not wanting anyone to hear pitiful words from anyone, especially an elder who was always a spectator and never did anything to help me.
"Emily would’ve been really sad to see the granddaughter she cherished suffering like this," the old lady added, which caught my attention.
I turned to look at the lady.
Emily Phoenix? Wasn’t that my grandmother who had run away from the Phoenix Blood pack with me to save my life?
"You knew my grandmother?" I asked.
The lady smiled.
"Of course, I knew her. She was my friend, always worried about your future. She often expressed her worry about how she wanted you to have a bright future," the lady said.
The chances were meager, but there was no loss in trying it out.
I pulled the scarf from my pocket and showed it to the old lady.
"Do you know anything about this scarf?" I asked.
"This scarf?" the lady asked, her pupils dilated. Her trembling lips and beaming eyes told me she definitely knew something.
"I really liked this scarf back in time and had asked Emily to give it to me as a gift, but she denied it. She said the scarf must stay with you until you are big enough to decipher it," she said.
I paused and looked at the blank scarf with the flowers. What was there to decipher for me? I didn’t even have the power to read it. There were definitely things on it that witches could see, but I couldn’t.
"And did she ever give you any hint about what was there to decipher? Anything weird she said could be helpful," I asked, hoping she would’ve at least dropped a hint.
"Not much. She was once drowning in her miseries and talking about how she couldn’t protect her family and left them to die. She indeed said something weird," The lady scrunched her brows.
She looked like she was thinking hard, and I gulped.
My heart was pounding against my chest in hopes.
However, the hope felt diminished when the lady didn’t add anything even after a few minutes.
"Thank you for your words," I turned around, dejectedly.
’It’s okay, Valencia. Someone out there has to be there who can help us,’ Aurora said.
I hummed as I returned to the house where we were temporarily staying.
By the time I was back, Maverick was already ready and snapped his gaze to me as soon as I entered.
"Why did you leave alone?" Shadow stepped ahead before Maverick could say anything, and I smiled when Maverick rolled his eyes.
"I was out for a walk. Don’t worry. I can take care of myself," I assured Shadow, as he was responsible for my security after Maverick.
Shadow pursed his lips but didn’t say anything and left to check up on things. We were ready to go in a couple of hours and decided to check up on a couple of packs on our way back.
"You have got to handle this. They are growing too protective," I said to Maverick, and the latter only shrugged as if telling me I brought this upon myself.
"Did you find anything?" He asked.
I told him what happened, and he sighed before pecking my cheeks.
"It’s okay. I will ask some witches if they can tell us anything about it," Maverick said.
I hummed as we walked out.
Kyle was already waiting for us and bowed to both of us.
"Alpha Maverick, Luna Valencia, this way," The man said.
He led us back to the meeting hall, where we held the meeting on the last day. I looked at all the elders who stood from their seats to respect Alpha Maverick.
"Sit," Maverick gave one order, and everyone sat while I sat beside Alpha Maverick.
"Everyone had enough time to discuss what was proposed yesterday. What is your opinion?" Maverick asked.
I was amused at how Maverick used the word "opinion" instead of "decision." It was almost as if he was indirectly telling them we were taking their opinion just to give them the sense of taking part in the matter when we had already decided their fate for them.
"We agree with the condition, but we all think that Matilda, as the one carrying the heir, should have some authority too," One of the elders said.
I looked at the smug look on Joseph’s face and smirked.
"What authority?" Maverick asked.
The elders paused.
Talking to me was completely different from talking to Alpha Maverick.
While they found it hard to respect me because they were the ones who bullied me earlier, and they were more comfortable with me because they knew I was still on the soft side, it was different with Alpha Maverick, who was the beast Alpha and known for his lethal ways.
"Since you guys decided it was good to give her some authority, what kind of position did you have in mind?" Kyle interpreted the question for Maverick.
The elders looked at me, and I just sat there. I leaned back in my seat with a smirk as I looked at Matilda.
The smile on her face froze.
I know they wanted me to intervene and act as an interpreter, but I wasn’t going to do it.
"Anything would be fine," The elder who said the sentence earlier added.
I chuckled inwardly, sitting there with my eyes closed.
"Anything? Is she not satisfied that she gets the security of the pack and is known as the alpha’s heir carrier? She can’t have the beta position because she isn’t Kyle’s wife, she can’t have the Luna position because she isn’t Theo’s wife or capable as a matter of fact. She can’t be a Gamma either because Gamma’s are warriors. So what position does she need? An omega?" Maverick asked.
A snigger left my mouth at his choice of words.
A beta’s daughter was demoted to Omega. Why does this sound so familiar?
The elder who had suggested sat down in shame, glaring at Joseph, who looked wronged as he looked at his daughter helplessly.
Matilda looked at me fiercely, and I smirked at her.
