Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 333: The new alpha

Chapter 333: The new alpha

VALENCIA’S POV

Kyle stood at the podium to introduce the situation to everyone, and we sat there listening to him explain what had happened and when Tyler had drafted his will.

It was peculiar listening to the same story again, and thus, rather than concentrating on it, I pulled out my phone to message Theo.

"When will you arrive?" I asked him.

It wasn’t long before Theo’s message arrived.

"I’ll be there shortly. Can you ask someone not to stop me? As you know, I am still a rogue," Theo added a laughing emoticon at the end, and I smiled.

I looked at Shadow before leaning towards him.

"Hey, can you do me a favor?" I asked.

Though I knew I could trust Kyle with the job, I still wanted one of my trusted people to bring Theo here.

"What is it?" Maverick leaned towards me as if trying to get hold of some gossip, and I chuckled.

I told him through the mind link what I wanted Shadow to do, and Maverick conveyed the message to him.

Shadow left shortly, and I sighed when Maverick held my hand, squeezing it softly.

I looked ahead at some elders gazing at me, and my expression immediately soured.

Look at those petty faces still judging me even when I was sitting here as their alpha. Some people don’t know when to stop.

"Luna Valencia," Kyle stepped aside.

I stood from my place and walked to the podium.

"Hello, everyone. As everyone already knows me, Kyle Coleman introduced me. I am Luna Valencia Aurora Phoenix," I said my full name, and I could see a look of shock on some people’s faces.

I am sure many people still didn’t know that I wasn’t the daughter of the former beta family.

"Today, I am standing here as the alpha of the pack, appointed by Alpha Tyler before his demise. As the person in authority, it’s my responsibility to take care of the pack and hand it over to someone of caliber," I said.

Knowing people would question my words, I paused, and the elders didn’t disappoint me.

"What do you mean by handover?" One of the elders asked gently.

I sighed.

"Everyone here shall know that I am bonded to Alpha Maverick of the Dark Callisto Pack and will become the Luna of the Pack by the end of this month. The Dark Callisto pack is one of the biggest packs," I gazed at Maverick, who smiled encouragingly.

"Technically, I can’t go to and fro between the two packs at such a large distance; thus, I will appoint the pack’s new alpha today," I said.

Hushed whispers started to resound in the hall as they talked amongst them.

I waited for the following question to arrive, and unsurprisingly, it came from none of them.

"What do you mean by new alpha? Matilda is carrying the heir of the alpha position. How can we accept a new alpha who will bring a new generation here? What will happen to our alpha’s lineage?" Joseph asked at the same time Theo entered the venue with Shadow.

Seeing everyone nodding at his choice of words, I knew what kind of game he was playing.

Theo approached the podium and stood beside me under everyone’s scrutinizing gaze as he was still a rogue.

"This is Alpha Theo, who lost his pack to the rogue’s attack a few years ago. He will be taking over the alpha position of the pack for the time being," I said.

"I object!" Joseph shouted and kicked the empty chair beside him while Matilda shed a crocodile.

The elders looked at me disappointed.

"That’s right, Luna Valencia. How can you decide upon a new alpha? What happens to the pack lineage? It’s almost as if being ambushed by another party and accepting fate," One of the elders said.

Though they were voicing their concerns, their words and voice were surprisingly gentle, and I couldn’t help but think it was all because of Alpha Maverick.

They wouldn’t have thought twice if I had been alone before reprimanding me.

In this world of power and strength, people respect the one in power and neglect the weak. It is the law of nature.

"I wasn’t done speaking when someone interrupted me," I said.

"What do you want to say? It’s clear you hate our family and are using just any opportunity to take it out on us. I can’t believe I fed a wretched bitch like -" Joseph started, but before he could complete his sentence, I saw Liam drawing his sword and pointing it at Joseph, leaving everyone speechless.

Heck, even I was shocked.

Warmth spread across my heart as I saw them defending me yet again.

This was what it felt like to have people supporting you.

It still stung. The way these people who made my life hell for four long years don’t shy away from mentioning how they fed me and how ungrateful I was still hurt me.

Probably, if they hadn’t taken me under their wings, my life would’ve been different, and I wouldn’t have suffered so many emotional wounds. Yet, all they cared about was how they fed me for years, not at all remembering how I slaved my life away for them.

"Why did you stop? I want to hear you complete that sentence," I heard Maverick’s cold voice and immediately turned to him.

"Mav," I shook my head at him as he stood, buttoning his coat that he had unbuttoned earlier to relax in his seat.

I wanted to tell him that I got this, and he looked at Liam before nodding.

Liam stepped aside, not before bumping into Joseph, who looked like his life flashed before his eyes.

"Dad, don’t speak against her. She has a problem with me and will naturally do anything to make things difficult. Now that she has the alpha position, we can’t do anything against her," Matilda said, placing her hand on her abdomen as tears streamed down her eyes.

It was a marvelous act. I must commend her for that.

However, after so many years of seeing her act, I couldn’t feel any pity for her.

I saw the elders looking at Matilda with pity, and my urge to roll my eyes was suppressed.

Of course, it would work for people like them.

"One more disrespecting word from you, and I won’t think twice before cutting that tongue off. Is that understood, Joseph?" I asked.

Joseph immediately gritted his teeth.

"Who are you –"

Before he could say anything else to make my man angrier, I stepped forward, letting Aurora show her dominating side to him and filling me with her powerful aura for a second as I looked at him intensely.

"Is that understood, Joseph?" I asked.

He stood there, shocked for some time, looking around as if trying to find whether others had seen me, but he nodded and sat.

"Do I need to send an invitation to ask you to sit?" I looked at Matilda, who sat embarrassingly.

"As I said earlier, the alpha position would go to Alpha Theo as he is the right candidate to lead the throne in its need. Matilda and her child would be kept in proper care until the kid grows. If it’s a boy, then he would be allowed to have the alpha position. However–" I looked at the elders.

"I won’t allow just anyone to have the throne based on blood lineage. He will have to prove his worth as the next alpha, using the same training and procedure everyone goes through. Alpha Theo doesn’t have a mate here, yet he is free to have his woman become the Luna as long as she thinks in favor of the pack." I waited for them to object, and when they didn’t, I added the final part.

"Apart from that, the Hazel Moon Pack will be under the jurisdiction of the Dark Callisto Pack and the council as joint supreme power. All the decisions will be made by discussion. Are there any objections now?" I asked.

I saw everyone whispering among each other again and sighed before looking at Kyle.

"I trust your opinion. This is the best choice," Kyle said.

I hummed before looking at Theo.

"You don’t think I wronged you, do you?" I asked him.

After all, I allowed Matilda’s kid to take the throne even when Theo would run the pack for eighteen years.

I asked Theo his opinion on leading the pack, and he agreed to it after discussing it with Tory and Jason. But I never told him what kind of condition I was going to put.

"You trust me enough to give an entire pack to run. Do you think my grateful ass will ever question you" Theo asked, and I chuckled at his way of putting things.

"It’s good then," I told Kyle to let the people have this night’s time to discuss and think about it.

Though I was here to finalize things, I still wanted to give them enough time so that no one would blame me and say I forced my decisions as an outsider.

At the same time, I needed some time in the Hazel Moon pack to see if anyone close to my grandmother could tell me more about her and see if she mentioned anything related to me.
