Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 332: Hazel Moon Pack
Chapter 332: Hazel Moon Pack
VALENCIA’S POV
"Are you nervous?" Maverick’s words brought me out of my thoughts as we sat in the car leading to the Hazel Moon pack.
Was I nervous? I wasn’t sure about it.
I indeed felt edgy, a bit arrogant, and dominating.
Who wouldn’t? I was the same person they bullied thoroughly because she couldn’t turn into her wolf form. Now, that same person was returning as the alpha of their pack.
Though it was something to be proud of, I felt edgy because I had once promised myself that I would destroy Hazel Moon Pack thoroughly for what they did to me.
It was quite an irony that now I was the one who needed to think of their welfare, and it was surely souring my mood.
"Let’s just get this over with. I don’t want to lead any other pack but Dark Callisto pack," I said.
Shadow immediately smiled and nodded at me through the rearview mirror.
"That’s right, Luna. You are only our leader. And we don’t like to share," Shadow said with a glint in his eyes.
Before I could reply, Maverick interrupted us.
"You are going to lead the Dark Callisto pack? Where does that leave me? Should I look for a full-time job in a particular someone’s...bed," Maverick mouthed the last word to me, and I blushed profusely.
I know he was joking, but I couldn’t help but feel excited just at the thought.
He smirked and pulled me closer, making me rest my head on his chest.
’I can see you don’t resist the idea,’ Maverick whispered, and I licked my bottom lip before humming.
It wasn’t long before I saw the familiar forest coming into view, and I sighed.
’You got this. Show them who has returned more powerful and unfathomable than before,’ Aurora motivated me.
I hummed. She was right. Rather than feeling unsure, I should incorporate confidence in myself.
Since the moon goddess has bestowed this opportunity, I should make the most of it.
As soon as the car stopped at the borders of the Hazel Moon Pack, I looked at the familiar guards who had once mocked me, standing in respect with their heads bowed.
Kyle was standing at some distance with his men, and I sighed.
"Shall we step down here?" I asked Maverick, who shook his head at me.
"No. We stop right at the pack house. I want them to feel my woman’s aura and that she isn’t here to give in to anyone’s wishes. They don’t deserve your respect for you to step down at the borders even for a second," Maverick said.
His voice was stern, and I am sure he was looking out for me.
His words warmed my heart, and I rolled down the car window, not saying anything.
As if Kyle understood my intentions, he immediately sat inside the car that started moving towards the pack house.
’Was that Valencia?’
’I know, right? How beautiful has she turned?’
’I couldn’t believe she was the same malnourished kid,’
’No wonder our alpha chose her to handle the alpha position. Look at her poise,’
I could hear distant whispers and suppressed the urge to roll my eyes.
Nothing changed. The Hazel Moon pack and its people were the same—old gossipers.
"Let’s go," Maverick said when the car stopped on the pavement of the Packhouse. I was about to open the door when he stopped me.
He raised his brows at me, and I blushed.
"Sorry," I mouthed.
I had been used to doing things independently and alone for so long that something as minuscule as opening the car door was out of habit.
I watched as Maverick stepped out and buttoned his coat’s button.
Hundreds of people were gathered around the car, and I felt jittery.
Everyone who had been whispering stopped when Maverick stepped out.
He walked around the car, where Shadow stood by my side as a shield.
Shadow moved aside to let Maverick open the door for me, and I honestly thought they were a little too cautious.
"My lady," Maverick whispered, his eyes holding a strange and intense sense of affection, paralyzing me for a second before I placed my hand on his.
"I love you. You got this," Maverick bent and mouthed to me, his soft words immediately easing the little waiver of emotions I had been suffering from.
I stepped out of the car and looked at Kyle.
"Luna Valencia," Kyle bowed to me.
I nodded.
"Kyle Coleman," I said his name before shifting my gaze to the beta family at some distance.
I could see the shock on my adoptive mother and father’s face.
They were probably thinking about how the child they had neglected and left the pack survived the wild for so long and returned this strong.
"Valencia –" Matilda stepped out of the shadows, and I quirked my brows at her.
"That’s Luna Valencia to you," I said.
Joseph, Matilda’s father, immediately pushed forward.
"Valencia, can you act a little with a conscience? You have become the alpha of the pack because you smitten our alpha. Matilda is carrying Tyler’s baby. How can you ask her –?" Joseph started, and I watched him make fun of himself.
"How dare you raise your voice at our Luna—?" Shadow immediately drew his sword, rendering me speechless for a second.
I looked at Maverick, who rolled his eyes and suppressed the urge to chuckle.
It looked like the pack members were growing quite protective of me, not even asking Maverick for his advice when it came to me.
"Joseph," I called out his name, and he widened his eyes.
"You! How dare you call me by my name and –" he started yapping again, and I scoffed.
"Has old age made you blind?" I asked
"Valencia!" Gemma, Matilda’s mother, shouted at me.
"Mrs Gemma!" Kyle raised his voice, and I sighed.
"If you have eyes to see, make use of them. Is it hard to notice who I stand with and whose mark I hold? I am Luna Valencia of The Dark Callisto pack, and anyone who wishes to disrespect me shall face the consequences," I said.
Joseph and Gemma finally felt they understood what kind of authority I held today when they looked at the alpha beside me.
"Y-you-" Gemma started, and I smirked.
"And while being the Luna of the Dark Callisto pack, currently, I am the Alpha of the Hazel Moon Pack. Naturally, I would’ve made you bow down to me for disrespecting me and my authority, but your respect is as useless as your presence," I scoffed.
I gazed at Matilda, who was standing there with her teeth gritted. She looked at me with a wronged expression as if I was the one who stole this position from her.
’She has some nerves looking at us in the eyes after what she did to us time after time,’ Aurora commented.
Knowing she would lash out, which was the last thing I wanted to happen after what happened at the royal palace, I looked at Maverick.
"Has the meeting hall been prepared?" Maverick asked Kyle, who immediately nodded.
"Yes, sir. Everything has been prepared just like you demanded," Kyle hurriedly said.
"Let’s go, my love," Maverick placed his hand on my back, leading me inside, and I chuckled inwardly.
’What? Is it my fault that Reaper feels jealous because so many men have looked at our woman with envious eyes? We got to touch you to feel comforted,’ Maverick asked me using the mind link.
I sighed.
Removing his hand from my back, I entangled my hand around his elbow.
’Better?’ I asked, and he smiled before nodding.
I sighed when I saw all the elders arriving and sitting in the hall with curious and inquisitive looks on their faces.
