Chapter 324: Meeting the royals

VALENCIA’S POV

"Do you want to do it today?" Maverick asked me, and I placed the glass of lime water on the counter before turning to face him.

He was pretty busy these days with everything, and thus, I was quite unsure what he was talking about.

I looked at him suspiciously, and he smirked.

"As much as I want to give in to the desires and do exactly what you are thinking that I am thinking, I am talking about the revelation of the truth to the royals," Maverick said.

I sighed.

Right. How could I forget about it? We received the report about the DNA test results a night ago, and it wasn’t surprising that it came out positive.

No wonder Axile was leading one of the most decent rogue groups with little to no animosity with the pack rogues.

He was a born leader, and though I did not believe it earlier, sometimes it’s indeed in our blood to do something. When one is born to do something, they end up doing it anyway.

I was the daughter of the renowned Luna of the Phoenix Blood Pack and was supposed to be a leader like my mother.

Though Tyler rejected me and the Luna position, I ended up with the most powerful and renowned beast, Alpha, who was ready to do anything to prove his love to me. And although late, even Hazel’s moon pack that bullied me once was now at my whims.

"What are you thinking about?" Maverick asked, and I shook my head at him.

"I thought we were supposed to leave for the Hazel Moon pack for the meeting that we had scheduled. Will it be possible to meet the royals at the same time? It might take time due to the drama," I asked Maverick.

He looked at his phone thoughtfully.

I waited for him to decide what to do as I walked around the kitchen counter and stole another cookie from the cabinet when he wasn’t looking.

Stuffing it in my mouth, I turned to the window to pretend I was just taking a casual walk, and he sighed.

"Stupid girl. You stole another cookie. Do you think I won’t recognize the smell of the cookie when you munch on it, and it will come in contact with your saliva?" he asked before picking me up and placing me on the counter.

"It’s not my fault. Mrs Valerie made them real good," I moaned, and he mused before taking the half-eaten cookie from my hand and popping it into my mouth.

"I know, baby. I will let you eat them when you heal completely. Didn’t the doctor say you still need to have some good rest and not eat such sweet processed things until then? It’s already bad that you don’t get to rest," he said, and I scowled, not saying anything nonetheless.

I listened to him only because he was looking too sexy while reprimanding me like this, and his jaws were looking more edible than the cookie I had.

"I think we can go to the royals on our way. We mentioned that we will be reaching the Hazel Moon pack today. We never said anything about giving them a firm decision today itself. Besides, it will take a day to inspect things before deciding something so we can leave the matter behind for once and all," Maverick said.

I hummed in understanding before agreeing to the arrangements.

Once he walked out of the hall to make a call to his men who would join us for the little tour, I called Theo and asked him to arrive with the Hazel Moon Pack with the other three alphas of our team.

Since we received the results last night, I already asked Theo to send the necessary proof urgently.

"Hello?" I called Axile.

"Hello, beautiful. I have been waiting for your call ever since," he said.

I sighed.

"I wanted to be sure about everything, Axile. I don’t want to give you any false hopes. You need to come to a place and meet a couple of people," I tried to warn him.

’I think you should tell him what this is all about. The guy has stayed away from his family for more than two decades. He deserves to know what he can expect to happen because he will be shocked too. What if he cannot process everything and ends up ruining it for himself?’ Aurora said.

She made a valid point and took a deep breath.

"Can you at least hint to me what this is about? Is it really about my parents? Will I be able to find mine? Are they ready to meet me? Is it someone who knows who my parents are?" Axile asked.

Though the man was anxious, I could hear hope in his words.

"It’s indeed about your parents, Axile. I want you to come to your home with me. I can’t promise how your family will take this information and if they will accept you, but let’s give it a try. At least, we won’t regret it ever," I said.

He stayed silent for a few minutes, and I knew it would be hard for him to process this information. That’s why I took a deep breath and was about to say more pacifying words when he spoke up.

"I don’t know what kind of relation I have with you, Valencia. First, you appeared before me when I was betrayed by my people, whom I trusted the most, and you gave me hope in life. Then you saved my life even when we rogues are looked down upon. And now you are doing so much for me when your life is in this turmoil," he said.

I sighed.

I didn’t want him to feel burdened by gratitude or anything.

"Look, I am doing this because -" I started, but he interrupted me again.

"I don’t care about your reason. You are the first person who has done so much for me, and I will forever remember this. I will try to protect you the best I can. I thought I would love and marry you and protect you with you by my side, but you have found your love, and I have no right to interfere in it. But I will always be there for you," Axile said before he ended the call.

I looked at his number for a few seconds before removing the thoughts from my head.

I had more important things to care for, like arranging the evidence.

"Mitsuki," Maverick walked to the entrance, and I looked at him with raised brows.

"We will leave in half an hour," he informed me.

"Let’s go," Maverick held my hand comfortingly, and I nodded before stepping out of the car.

I looked at the car behind us, where Axile was traveling with Mr Han and Greta. He looked at me, confused, and I smiled at him comfortingly.

"Alpha Maverick, Miss Valencia," One of the soldiers bowed to us as they led us inside.

I took a deep breath before entering the royal palace, knowing what kind of drama would unfold here.

"Alpha Maverick, Miss Valencia," King David descended the stairs and smiled at us.

"It’s our pleasure to have you here. I heard you made quite a surprising request about having a rogue and a stranger man with an unknown identity to enter the kingdom with you?" King David said as he signaled us to sit on the sofa alongside him.

I looked at Maverick, who blinked at me comfortingly.

"Where is Princess Dilbar and Prince Ethan?" Maverick asked.

"They should be upstairs. They’ll be here in a few minutes. We were discussing a few things, and since you arrived, I came first to greet you," King David said.

Maverick nodded.

"I saw the palace security has increased greatly since we last visited. Is something that matters?" he asked.

I know he was having small talks and waiting for the princess and prince to arrive while creating the environment for our heavy blow.

"Recently, we got an unknown letter that threatened the security and power of the royals, and it has caused an uproar in the family. I am sure some rogues are messing with us again. That’s why I asked them to increase the security," King David said.

With his smile faltering a little, I knew what was in that letter that caused the uproar.

Wait. I had asked Alina to deliver the letter to David and Dilbar only since they are still of royal blood. They wouldn’t be stupid enough to discuss this matter with Prince Ethan, right?

I saw Princess Dilbar and Prince Ethan descending the stairs. While the man looked fine with a neutral expression, I saw a weird turmoil in Dilbar’s eyes as she looked at her brother.

"So, you didn’t mention why you had asked us to allow a rogue inside the palace at your expense and guarantee of security. What is so special about the rogue?" King David asked, and it was my turn to smile smugly at Prince Ethan.

"He holds great significance in your life, King David. After all, he is your legitimate son, the throne’s heir," I said.
