Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 323: Need Alina to do something
Chapter 323: Need Alina to do something
VALENCIA’S POV
"What is it? Did something happen?" Alina asked me in an anxious tone, suspecting something was wrong since I had called her urgently.
"I need you to do something for me, Alina. Will you be able to do it?" I asked.
Alina looked at me for a few seconds before nodding.
"If it’s in my power and reach, I will," She said.
I asked her to anonymously message the royals that the original prince was back, and the surprise on her face indicated how big this was going to be.
"And–" I paused.
"And?" She asked.
"Can you bring a strand of King’s hair? I need to run a DNA test before making big claims," I said.
Alina understood what I was trying to do here, and she nodded.
"The work will be done within ten minutes. By the time you reach the pack, I’ll drop the things off at your place. You can ask the doctor to get things ready," Alina assured me, and I smiled.
"I knew I could trust you with this. Thank you," I said, and she smiled before caressing the back of my hand.
She looked into my eyes and sighed.
"Valencia, though I lied about my identity to you, none of the emotions I showed you were fake," she smiled.
"You are really important to me, and I see you as more than a friend. As a witch princess, you are the first true friend I ever made who stuck with me even when she knew she would get in trouble because of me, and it means a lot to me. I will do anything to help you anytime and anywhere," Alina added.
I knew she was telling the truth. I could feel it.
My wolf never received any negative vibes from her, which is why I trusted her story, too.
"I know. Don’t worry. I don’t suspect your friendship or loyalty to me," I smiled, and she nodded before disappearing into thin air.
I left the cafe and sat inside the car before telling Bora to go straight to the pack.
"Madam, by the way, if you don’t mind me asking, why does the rogue head respect you so much?" Bora asked as she drove.
I raised my brows at her.
"What makes you think he respects me?" I asked her.
She looked at me through the rearview mirror before smiling.
"You don’t know about it? The place you visited is one of the secret dens of the rogue head of the northern regions, and you are the first non-rogue wolf to go there with their permission and come out unscathed," Bora explained.
I hummed before looking out the window, thinking about everything that would turn upside down for the people who crossed me.
"Sometimes, an act of kindness can take you to places," I answered after some time. She looked at me briefly before resuming her driving, not saying anything.
Once we reached the pack, she was about to take me straight to Maverick’s private house when I saw a group gathered near the west borders from where we were entering.
"What’s happening there?" I asked, and Bora cleared her throat.
She didn’t stop the car. Instead, she increased the speed, which I found pretty odd.
Why did it look like they didn’t want me to be a part of whatever was happening there?
Could something happen in the pack while I was gone? Was that the reason why Maverick sounded so anxious on the phone?
I didn’t say anything to Bora, making a mental note to ask Maverick about what was happening because I wanted to be a part of this pack and participate in its hardships and happiness.
After some time, our cars stopped near Maverick’s private house, and I smiled at Bora before stepping out.
"Thank you for your assistance today," I said to her. I was about to turn around when I felt his intoxicating presence behind me.
Due to the mark we share and our strengthening bond, we feel each other’s presence more easily, and I find this a good thing.
If it had been my previous self with so many secrets, I would’ve surely had a problem, but now when, I have opened up to each other about almost everything.
"I missed you," Maverick said, placing a chaste kiss on my mark. I blushed, knowing more than twenty people were looking at us.
"Maverick -" I started, but he tightened his hold on me.
"What did we decide that you would be calling me? Where is my favorite nickname?" He asked, and I couldn’t help but chuckle.
"Mmm, my cutie patootie baby," I said.
I felt Maverick’s hand freeze on my waist and suppressed the urge to be smug.
I thought this name would catch him off guard and cause him to leave me, but to my surprise, he lifted me in his arms instead and looked at his people with pride.
"You heard her. I am her baby," he said confidently, and I blushed at his words. Everyone smiled and chuckled before nodding, making me feel even shier than before.
Uhhh... why do I have to act smart with him when I know these things don’t really affect him?
"Let’s go inside. I have news," I told him, and he understood what I was talking about.
He took me inside without wasting another second.
"So? What did you find out?" He asked me as he sat on the couch, placing me on his lap with his hands wrapped around me.
Seriously, personal space is a bluff in front of people like Maverick, and it was strange how a person like me, who used to like her company, has found herself bending to his ways.
If he liked keeping me near, I wanted to be attached to him; if he wanted to make love to me, I tried to open my legs with consent; heck, if he would tell me there was a ritual that would write us eternity today, I would sign the deal to perform it with him not matter what kind of sacrifice it took.
"I love you," I said, not knowing how to tell him how safe I felt in his arms. He kissed my forehead.
After a sigh, I told him everything that happened there, and once I was done with my story, he hummed.
"That explains why I found this in the living room earlier," he said, pulling out a small ziplock bag containing a few strands of hair.
I nodded at him.
Alina must’ve done her work already.
"Can you arrange the DNA test with someone reliable enough to give us the correct information in the least amount of time?" I asked.
Maverick licked his bottom, and my gaze averted to his pink lips, his pink hue tempting me and giving me weird ideas.
My fists tightened around his shirt involuntarily, and he looked down at me hungrily.
"There is indeed a doctor I can trust," He said.
He immediately called one of his men, and I saw Cazer enter.
He averted his gaze when he saw us and bowed to us.
Maverick handed him the different hair samples and asked him to take them to the doctor in the hospital.
"Okay, sir," Cazer left after bowing to me.
I looked at Maverick with raised brows.
"Why did Cazer Bow to both of us when he came but only to me when he left? It’s just not him. People have been giving me two bows when I asked them not to bow to me at all. They were like my new family," I asked Maverick.
He shrugged as if he didn’t know, sighing when I glared at him.
"Fine. It’s not my idea, I promise. They just want to show you more gratitude because you have chosen to stay with us rather than go to the Hazel Moon pack when you have a clear choice to be the Luna and ruling alpha or another pack. They know you are an Alpha by blood," Maverick said.
I didn’t like the sound of it.
I could see they were grateful, but I wanted to create a healthy environment around us.
"But..." I started. However, Maverick stopped me by placing his lips on mine.
"Besides, I personally think you deserve twice the respect I get. First, for being my woman and someone akin to their mother, and second, for being so awesome," he said, peppering me with soft kisses. I giggled when he started tickling me, making my heart fill with pure happiness and bliss.
