VALENCIA’S POV

"Can you take your shirt off?" I asked Axile, who raised his brows at me.

"Beautiful, I love you and owe my life to you, but no matter how handsome I am, I don’t think your actions are right. I don’t want you to regret it later," Axile said, and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Seriously? Are you done? There is something I need to check, and no, that’s not your abs. My man has the best physique, and I don’t think you can compare to the beast alpha," I smirked at him.

He rolled his eyes at me before standing from his place, not saying anything.

I saw him taking his shirt off and asked him to turn around.

Standing from my place, I opened my phone and took a picture of the mark on his back.

"You can wear your shirt," I said before sending the picture to him.

He opened his phone and looked at the picture before gazing at me.

I walked to him, grabbed his phone from his hand before he could say anything, and placed his phone and mine on the table.

Theo had sent me the birthmark that the original prince was supposed to have as they found out one man who had worked in the royal palace at that time.

He was pretty hard to find.

"What is the meaning of this?" Axile asked as he looked at the similar photos, and I smiled.

"This means I just got my trump card against someone who has been acting a bit too smug these days, and you, my friend—" I smiled.

"I think I know who your family is and what happened that led you to the rogue life," I said.

"What do you mean?" Axile asked, and I was about to answer him when I saw an incoming call from Maverick.

Axile was about to grab my phone to stop me from answering him so I could probably answer him first, but I was quick to hold it.

"I will answer everything. Wait for me," I said before stepping to some distance.

As soon as I picked up the call, Maverick’s anxious voice came, and I sighed.

"Where did you go, princess? The team said you vanished into the thin air, and they hadn’t been able to reach you," Maverick said.

"I am sorry, my dear hubby. Things turned out like that," I said.

I wanted to tell him how I ended up disconnecting from the team but didn’t want to jeopardize the security of the rogue head since he trusted me enough and sighed.

"Don’t worry. I am still in the forests and near the team. Just hidden behind some kind of veil. I am safe. But most importantly, I have found out what I have been looking for, baby," I said.

Maverick paused.

He didn’t say anything for some time before I heard shuffling, and he probably walked away from his men.

"Does he know who the prince is?" Maverick asked, and I bit my lips, turning to look at Axile, who was looking at me anticipatingly.

"Let’s talk about it when I get back," I said, and Maverick hummed.

I ended the call and immediately contacted Alina to come and find me.

When Axile said I was done talking over the call, he walked to me, and I sighed.

"What is going on, beautiful? Please tell me what you meant by knowing my family. Are they still alive? Do they know I am alive? Do they even want me? Have they sent you? Did you meet them?" I saw worry and hope in his eyes.

I sighed.

Probably, I would’ve acted the same had I found out even a single member of my family was alive, and I would’ve done anything in my power to reach them as quickly as possible.

And thus, I wasn’t going to be the bad guy here and give him false hopes.

"Nothing is sure, Axile. If my guesses are right, things will work. Are you willing to trust me this one time and come with me where I take you? Please. I promise nothing will happen to you, and I will protect you with my life," I said.

Before Axile could answer anything, his men Vincent and Alok walked forward and scowled at me.

"Sir, you shouldn’t go with her. While we were the ones who got the information on her and told you to go ahead with your plans to woo her, now she belongs to that cunning h beast Alpha. Who knows what she has in mind," Alok said.

I nipped at my nails.

I know it was hard for the rogues to trust me from where they were standing.

"I will leave the decision to you, Axile," I said to him before turning on my heels.

As much as this was vital for me because it was the perfect revenge against Prince Ethan, I wouldn’t play a card that didn’t belong to me entirely.

Whether Axile was willing to take the risk and come with me or choose to stay where he was and be content with half-truths and lies was in his hands only.

I could only help him and step forward with his complete trust.

I walked some distance and was about to step out of the pit to walk to our team, who had accompanied me because I knew they must be growing anxious when Axile held my hand.

"I trust you," Axile said, and I smiled at him.

"Wait for my orders. Until then–" I pulled some of his hair, making him wince.

"I will only call you after I am one hundred percent sure of the results," I said, and he nodded.

"I will be waiting, beautiful. I trust you with my life," Axile comforted me, probably to dissipate any doubt I had after hearing his man’s words. I smiled at him.

After walking out, I met with Maverick’s team, who visibly relaxed after seeing me.

"Luna, where did you go?" Bora rushed to me and held my hands, making me smile in guilt.

"I am fine. The rogues had another way to meet me. Thank you for staying here and providing me with comfort and security. I was able to meet him with an easy mind because of you guys," I looked at them proudly, and they smiled in return.

"I have some business at the cafe where I used to work. Would it be okay for you guys to come with me there and wait for a few minutes?" I asked them.

None of them objected to my requests, and I smiled in response before sitting inside the car we had parked at the forest’s entrance.

Once we reached there, I walked inside the cafe, which Alina immediately turned into our meeting zone without affecting the original world.
