VALENCIA’S POV

I opened my eyes, feeling dizzy as hell, squinting my brows as a weird pain shot across my jaws and limbs.

"Uhhh," I turned to my side and furrowed my brows.

Wait. Why the hell was everything looking so big? I looked around before sitting up, my pupils dilating when my gaze fell on my little white tail.

I lifted my tail, slowly moving it to ensure I wasn’t dreaming about it. However, when my tail moved in my direction, and I scratched it, I knew I wasn’t hallucinating.

My head started to go into a panicking mess. This is the first time this has happened. I have never woken up as a cat. Even if I transformed out of the blue, I would turn out to be a human when I woke up.

And it was definitely not related to my delayed transformation because I transformed into my white tigress form not long ago and —

The events of what happened in the forest started to play in my head, making me scrunch my brows.

’Aurora,’ I called out to my fake-wolf, hoping she could fill me in on why my memories of what happened after Maverick cupped my cheeks were so blurred.

I tried calling her name again, but she banned me from looking into my headspace, and I sighed.

"Alpha Maverick!" I shouted to call out to anyone who could be out there.

And since I was in my cat form, the sound that came out of my mouth was – "Meow! Meow!"

I groaned.

’Well, at least if you don’t want to meet me, the least you can do is transform me back into my human form,’ I told Aurora, but nothing worked.

Feeling helpless, I stood from my place on the bed and was about to jump down when the room’s door opened, and Maverick walked inside.

I looked up at him, blinking my eyes at him. His massive form made me take a deep, shaky breath.

"You are awake," he whispered before picking me up in a not-so-ladylike manner. I immediately closed my legs, glaring at him.

What was he doing picking me up like this and looking at my tralala?

Maverick chuckled at my actions before pulling me close.

"Meow, meow, meow?" I mewed, wanting to ask him what was going on. He chuckled before shaking his head.

His laugh made me even more angry with the situation than I was.

"I don’t know what is happening either, my love. Alina says that this is probably Aurora’s way to suppress the wolf powers that had been suppressing the curse and try to take over you," Maverick explained.

I hummed. Was that the reason Aurora banned me from looking into my headspace?

"Do you remember what happened?" he asked me. I wanted to tell him my memories were blurry, but knowing all I would be doing was mewing, I shook my head.

Maverick raised his brows before pulling me close.

"How can you forget to drink my blood so sensually?" He asked me, and I raised my eyes, my pupils dilating as he pulled me close and kissed my mouth.

"Maverick, you scoundrel! I am a cat at the moment!" I shouted, but of course, all he could hear was my meowing, and I suppressed the urge to scratch his face and give him a piece of my mind.

"I know you are a cat, baby. But I just wanted to peck your lips because I have been waiting so long. Do you know that 18 hours have passed since you passed out?" Maverick asked me.

I froze in my place. Eighteen hours? I have been out for so long?

I looked at the lines of worry on his forehead and felt guilty. He was already going through so much and dealing with so much stuff, and rather than helping him, I was making things hard for him.

"You are not making things hard for me, my love. You have no idea how much I yearned to have someone in my life. It wasn’t like I wasn’t functioning well, but only after meeting you did I realize what was lost in my life," Maverick said.

"This is the first time I fell in love so hard. Everything is new for me. You are next to the moon goddess to me, and if there were any other way to worship you, I would. Don’t ever say you are adding more problems to my life when I would readily back into these problems as long as it ensured you are with me," Maverick said, patting my head.

I felt overwhelmed with the pure love in his eyes.

He smiled before lifting me again.

"I don’t know whether to be happy or concerned about you now. It’s been so long since I got to hold you like this, keep you like this, and bringing you everywhere with me would be good. On the other hand, this is going to be really tough for you," Maverick said.

I licked my lips.

I don’t know how to ask him if Alina told him until this will continue. I can’t stay as a cat when so many things need our urgent attention.

"Alina didn’t tell me about when this will be over. She said only your wolf can answer this," Maverick said.

I hummed and sighed. It was good that our bond was so strong that Maverick could understand everything I wanted to say or ask without telling him about it, or it would’ve been tough—I paused when he chuckled.

"Baby, how can you be so naive? Why are you so cute? Have you forgotten that I marked you and can read your thoughts as long as you keep your mind barrier down?" Maverick asked me.

I raised my brows.

Right. And is he telling me this only now? I scowled at him before mewing dejectedly, and he smiled at me.

"Reaper wants to meet you too. I wonder if he is thinking of making love to your cat form since we can’t make love to your wolf form. He was technically the first among us two who got infatuated with you and this cat," Maverick said, and I looked at him horrified.

There is no way he is thinking of having his massive wolf fuck my innocent little cat?

I shuddered at the thought, and he grinned, making me jump out of his hands.

"I dare you to come close to me," I growled through my head, and he smiled.

"It’s not like you can outrun me in this form," Maverick wriggled his brows, and I gaped at him.

Was he seriously with his wolf in this? I gulped.
