Chapter 312: Kyle’s annoyance

THIRD PERSON’S POV

Kyle took a deep breath, giving the mother-daughter pair a moment to reconcile, and looked at his watch.

When ten minutes passed and he saw Matilda walking towards their house, he stopped her.

"If you are done reminiscing about your sorrows, let’s go to the cremating grounds. We have to bury Alpha Tyler," Kyle said, his voice cold and devoid of emotions.

Joseph immediately stepped forward, feeling wronged by the tone Kyle was using.

It has been like this since he returned.

They had yet to find out that it wasn’t the council that appointed Kyle as the active decision-maker until their alpha was decided.

It was Valencia who was right now their alpha until she rejected the position formally.

"Beta Kyle, how can you act so rudely to my daughter? Can’t you see she has returned after such a long journey? She needs to get her emotions together after she has lost so much. Don’t forget we are a beta family, and before you, I was the acting beta of the pack," Joseph said.

Kyle looked at Matilda before looking at the former beta.

A scoff left his mouth.

Now that he also knew the partial truth about the family and how they treated Valencia despite knowing everything, he couldn’t help but loathe them for bringing such miseries to the pack.

"Well, as far as I remember, Matilda was traveling because she was imprisoned in the royal dungeons and not because she was doing some great work for the pack," Kyle said.

Joseph gritted his teeth.

Of course, they heard about what happened at the royal ball, and various rumors were spreading in the online werewolf community. Practically, their dignity and reputation were at risk.

"Matilda, tell us. Is that true?" Matilda’s mother asked, but under Kyle’s haughty gaze, Matilda felt it was useless.

She had tried to conspire against Valencia, but it was also confirmed that Dilbar framed her so they could take the blame away from their heads and place it on them. Because of that, she lost the love of her life too.

Seeing Matilda standing with no reaction, Kyle massaged his forehead.

’Matilda, I respect you. And as the carrier of the future heir of the Hazel Moon Pack, we needed your presence while cremating his body. The child deserves it. Alpha Tyler deserves it," He said in a much calmer tone.

"He is right, Matilda. Stop being wishful. It’s not good to keep the body of the deceased for so long,"

"Be thoughtful for once. You guys have brought enough shame to the pack,"

"Stop thinking about yourself only,"

"Let’s cremate the alpha and have his soul attain peace,"

The pack members started to speak at once.

Tears brimmed Matilda’s eyes.

Alpha Tyler wouldn’t get any peace just with this cremating process. He will receive peace when his name is cleared of the kind of allegations put on them. Matilda closed her eyes for a brief second, letting her tears fall on her cheeks.

She took a deep breath before nodding.

That was all the indication they needed.

Kyle turned to his people to arrange the ceremony and was about to move when Matilda finally spoke.

"Has Valencia said anything about when she will be taking over the pack?" Matilda raised her gaze, pure venomous, evil hostility in her eyes.

Kyle narrowed his eyes. He was about to reprimand her and tell her that she could have insulted Valencia earlier because she wasn’t a prime position holder and later not even a member of the pack, but now the girl was the pack’s future alpha. She needed to respect their late Alpha’s decision when Joseph beat him to it.

"What did you say? Valencia will take over the pack?" Joseph asked, his and his wife’s eyes wide as saucers as they looked at Kyle, waiting for an explanation on what was going on.

Kyle took a deep breath and told everyone about the will that Alpha Tyler had formed and submitted to the council and the secret vault of the werewolf community. The will mentioned that Valencia was supposed to take over the pack after his death if something happened to him, and it was his way of atoning for his sins.

Everyone in the pack was equally shocked.

They, especially the teenage groups of the pack, had never shied away from bullying the girl whenever they got a chance. From calling her names, torturing her, and sometimes beating her to throwing her out of the pack before the rogues, they had gone and taken part in every heinous act.

How could they accept the same person as their alpha?

"This is unacceptable. She is not even a member of our pack," one of the pack members said. Soon, all the teenagers, who were afraid that their lives would turn into a personal hell when Valencia returned, started making various remarks about how it was a bad decision.

Kyle waited for everyone to speak what they wanted before he took a deep breath.

"Until and unless Miss Valencia comes here and rejects the position, the alpha throne is hers. That’s how rules work in the werewolf community. Anyone who has a problem with the decision shall voice their objections when she is here and probably leave the pack afterward," Kyle’s eyes changed colors as the loyalty of his wolf changed to their new alpha eventually.

When he saw his words indeed made some kind of impact, he took a deep breath before adding,

"I am sure the council won’t stop you from doing so. And with Alpha Maverick and other alphas actively eliminating the evil rogues, I am sure life in the forest will be awesome," Kyle remarked sarcastically.

Joseph gritted his teeth.

"You are siding with her already when she is not even here. I have never met a lapdog like you. How hollow is your heart to switch loyalty so soon just because she made you the prime decision-maker?" Joseph commented.

Kyle’s gaze darkened at the choice of words.

He was about to retort when Joseph continued speaking,

"Do you think it’s fair to my daughter? She is carrying the heir of the Hazel Moon pack. Alpha Tyler’s blood in her womb is the only part of the alpha legacy, and no other alpha is in sight. How can we neglect that?" Joseph asked.

The pack members nodded at his words.

Meanwhile, Kyle could see Joseph trying to pave the way for himself since Matilda could not take the alpha position. Naturally, as her father, he will have to lend his hand to her, thus taking the alpha position.

He smirked before stepping forward.

"Let’s not reveal the kind of relationship they had behind closed doors, beta Joseph. Everyone, even the maids, knows that after Alpha Tyler finds out Valencia is much more powerful than her, he stops caring for Matilda. Besides, let’s not forget Valencia is the daughter of one of the most prestigious alpha couples," Kyle said, turning on his heels to overlook the preparation.

He had taken only one step when he paused and looked at Joseph.

"And, don’t you think it’s partially Matilda’s fault for bringing this misery upon herself? Why did Alpha Tyler not see her worthy of being a leader even when she showered him with so much love? Think about it," Kyle said before he left.

Matilda, suffering humiliation after humiliation, looked around at all the gathered people and whispered things about her.

Her wolf whimpered at the sight and couldn’t help but curl herself into a ball as she mourned her fate.

Her wolf often warned her to ease up on the bullying and plotting, but Matilda never listened to her, and this was the outcome.

As Kyle had walked only a few steps, he received a call from the beta of the dark callisto pack and picked it up immediately.

"Beta Shadow," He said respectfully.

"We will be visiting in a couple of days to decide. The basic details about what you need to prepare will be sent to you through fax," Shadow said,

’Very well, beta Shadow. I will try my best to ensure her safety," Kyle said.

Shadow scoffed.

"You don’t need to worry about that, beta Kyle. Our alpha doesn’t trust anyone regarding her security, and she has her own army of 30 men who will always protect her. Besides, she won’t be coming alone. We will share the details," Shadow said before he ended the call.

Kyle looked at the phone and took a deep breath.

At the same time, Joseph, who heard the words and knew Valencia would be arriving, clenched his fists. He wouldn’t allow anyone to take away what belonged to his daughter.

So what if his daughter plotted a little? How can this pack forget the sacrifices she made for everyone, especially Alpha Tyler? She forfeited her chances of finding her true love to be with him. It’s okay if they forgot. As her father, he will do everything in his power to support his daughter.

Joseph nodded to himself before taking a deep breath, ready to make plans on how to deal with Valencia when she would arrive.
