Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 304: Black liquid
Chapter 304: Black liquid
I kept looking at the devil before me, waiting for his explanation or just a hint that he was kidding, and the words he said earlier were a part of some kind of twisted humor on his side.
However, he didn’t say anything to deny it.
My heartbeat beat that had already fastened was erratic now.
"W-what do you mean?" I finally whispered out, unable to breathe in the dirty smoke that was engulfing me again.
It was precisely how he had brought me here and was probably sending me back because his message was well-related. But I needed to know what he meant by such daunting words.
"Sweetheart, must I explain everything to you in detail and embarrass you? You know what I mean. The kind of woman you are, it would be such a waste if you die. I need people like you in my world to keep it fun. So, I came up with a better deal. I’ll impregnate you and take the heart of the baby you’ll deliver, the baby which will be the result of our love and will ensure our happy, long life," The devil smiled.
I hated Tyler. There were no lies to it, but seeing the devilish smug smile on this devil’s face that bore Tyler’s identity made me even more disgusted.
If Tyler hadn’t made my life enough daunting, the devil had to take his face too and extinguish the little sympathy I was feeling for him after he committed suicide.
Tyler wasn’t at fault for what happened at the end and the kind of fate he met, but it wouldn’t be wrong to say it was precisely his karma that pulled him to what he was doing.
The devil blamed it. With his evil mind that was easy to manipulate or with the kind of tap devil was keeping on me, it would’ve been much easier to take on Maverick’s face and fool me.
"Now, if you’ll allow me," the devil’s words snapped me out of my thoughts, and before I could understand what was going on, he appeared right into my personal space, grabbing my throat and looking me straight into the eyes.
His hand shifted to my jaws, forcing it open by pinching it, making me look at him with unease.
The dirty smoke around me started entering my mouth, and it made me gag at the feeling. However, I was too helpless in his arms to even move.
Tears brimmed my eyes, and I looked at him with frustration.
"Don’t be angry, sweetheart. This is for me to keep a tap on you more easily," the devil said, and I felt like I was passing out already.
"I...I will never let you have me," I mouthed to him with great difficulty, and the devil chuckled.
"Oh, sweetheart, your little brain can still not comprehend what’s happening. Who am I? What am I capable of?" The devil smirked before I was thrown back into the same room I was standing in.
"Valencia!"
"Talk to me, damn it!"
"What’s wrong with her? Why is she not responding?"
"Valencia, this is not funny anymore. Please talk to me,"
I could hear the concern and fear in Maverick’s voice as I snapped back.
I turned my head to look at him, and he immediately cupped my cheeks.
"Thank God, you finally moved. What was –" He started, but I couldn’t let him continue.
I pushed him as hard as I could before I rushed to the bathroom and vomited.
I kept vomiting whatever was in my stomach, my guts retching at the sight of the black liquid coming out of my system.
The more I looked at it, the more it confirmed that I had no dreams. I indeed met the devil.
"What’s wrong, my love?" Maverick asked me, his words consoling, and my heart trembled slightly.
"Go away," I wanted to break down, not wanting to show him this side of me.
However, he didn’t budge from his position and kept patting my back. He didn’t speak, probably understanding I didn’t want any disturbance at the moment as my mind was in a mess.
The devil’s words echoed in my head like a siren’s curse.
I clenched my palms on the sides of the toilet seat before standing and flushing the black liquid.
Walking to the sink, I rinsed my mouth with mouthwash twice to remove any hint of that liquid before washing my face.
I got a glimpse of my reflection, and it wouldn’t be wrong to say it was hard to recognize the fearful girl in the mirror.
It has been so long since I have encountered this fearful side of me, and it was ironic that Tyler was the reason behind it again.
I walked out of the bathroom with Maverick, and my gaze fell on everyone gathered in the room.
"I appreciate your concern, but–" I found it hard to say.
I didn’t want to be disrespectful toward their care because I knew they considered me one of their own and wanted to be there for me, but... at this moment, I wanted to be left alone.
"Leave her alone for some time and allow her to collect herself. I’ll let you know about it later, and she will meet everyone once she has calmed her nerves," Maverick did the work for me.
I looked at everyone, who gave me an understanding smile and left with a dejected expression, making me guiltier.
As soon as Greta left the room, closing the door behind himself as he was the last to exit, I fell on the carpet, feeling helpless.
Maverick sat close to me, holding me in his arms, and I finally broke out.
"No one can protect it from happening, Maverick. You ensured I was safe here with so much security, but how are we supposed to fight an entity who can call and take away my soul itself?" I asked him.
Maverick froze in his place, probably finally understanding what had happened in the time when they thought I was standing still in my position and not moving.
He didn’t say anything. I am sure he didn’t feel like it because it scared him too. He just tightened his hold on me, and I kept weeping in his arms to take out all the frustration I was feeling from the ongoing events.
Everything that was going on, overwhelming me, was becoming too much for me to take.
"He said he wants to impregnate me because he can’t have me killed. And then, he will take away the baby and use its heart to live a long life. He was bearing Tyler’s face with a scar. It was disgusting, Maverick. He is keeping an eye on me. Please don’t let me go," I fisted his shirt, not wanting him to release the hold on me.
Maverick kept rubbing my hands up and down to help me calm down, and I finally started relaxing into his arms and taking deep breaths.
I was glad he didn’t say anything hypocritical like everything would be fine or everything would turn out for good and things would be alright because we both knew it was going to be the most arduous journey and probably our most brutal battle.
"I am sorry for breaking like this," I said after some time, and the man sighed.
He merely removed the hair over my eyes and kissed my forehead, caressing my head like he was looking at a breaking art that he knew he could preserve. The love in his eyes made me look away.
Do I even deserve that love? From what I have seen today, to get me, the devil might target him and his pack too, and I inevitably brought baggage with me...
"And I dare you to think that one more time." Maverick’s words brought me out of my self-deprecating thoughts, and I realized he probably heard my thoughts because of the shared mark of mind link between us.
I looked down at my feet apologetically and was about to speak when I felt the presence of some other entities near us.
Maverick placed his hand on my back and pulled me closer in his embrace as if wanting to hide me from the world.
I didn’t make a sound and closed my eyes.
It wasn’t long before Maverick’s presence was felt in our room, and He helped me stand, still hiding me in his embrace.
"We got information that the devil has made his move and visited you. We are here to help you remove his influence on you so he won’t be able to –" the person who appeared said.
The voice was unfamiliar to me, but hypocritical words were all too familiar to me.
Help me recover, help me in locating, help me in dealing...
A scoff left my mouth before I started chuckling.
I felt humorless yet couldn’t help but smile at the words.
"I don’t need it," I said, turning around and coming face to face with a lady with blue eyes and golden hair. A blue veil cascaded on her back and collected around her legs as she stood like some deity before us.
"Excuse me?" She asked, probably shocked by my words, but I was done playing the nice person role.
"We don’t need your help; please see yourself out." I tried to stay respectful because we never know what kind of powers these people have.
"Have you lost your mind?" The lady asked, and I smiled before tilting my head and nodding.
