Chapter 303: Devil’s wish

VALENCIA’S POV

Falling into an endless abyss, where you know you are the prey, and you are the predator. You want to hide from this gnawing feeling in your heart and hold onto it simultaneously.

Have you ever felt like that?

Like you are lost, looking at one thing, feeling depressed, but then you are unsure if you are actually depressed or if it’s just hatred towards a scenario you are dealing with?

I licked my lips as I looked into the distance.

In a few hours, the blue moon will rise, and according to those Lycans, the devil will come to meet me soon.

It was making my hand sweaty; there was no lie to it.

We were back in the Dark Callisto pack. Yes, after Maverick and I marked each other last night, making the appearance of the entangled beautiful black and hazy white wolf with a silver moon behind it.

Maverick said the mark was one of a kind. He has never seen a hazy wolf in a mating mark like this. But then again, it was probably because my wolf or I was cursed, and she wasn’t showing around.

I sighed, looking around.

That was why I felt like I was falling into an endless abyss.

"Are you fine, Luna?" I heard a voice and looked down at Liam, who was looking back at me with a concerned expression.

I smiled at him before nodding.

"We will do everything in our power to save and protect you," Liam said with a determined glint in his eyes, and I smiled gratefully again.

"I am glad to have found such a humble troop of people who love me back equally. I will do anything in my power to protect your alpha and the pack," I said a silent vow in my heart.

Liam furrowed his brows.

"No," He said firmly, and I raised my brows.

"You need to focus on enjoying life. We are here for the rest of the things," He said, and I couldn’t help but chuckle at his childish words.

"It’s good to hear and great to see you smiling," He said.

I realized he was talking to me like that to make me smile, and I sighed.

"Thank you," I whispered to him.

"Anytime," he showed me his thumbs up, and I grinned.

He left shortly and continued his patrolling around the house.

’You are really happy here, aren’t you?’ Aurora asked.

I barely hummed.

’So you have finally decided to open your mouth now,’ I said, commenting on how she has been staying quiet since yesterday.

She hummed before curling into a ball again.

’I don’t feel good. It’s like we are being watched constantly, and it is making me want to unleash everything and confront whatever it is, but the thought that it will hurt you is stopping me from making any grave decision,’ Aurora said, and I sighed.

She was right. The feeling of being watched was indeed gnawing at my heart.

Walking back into the room, I turned around to shut the curtains.

On a regular day, I would’ve enjoyed looking at such a beautiful moon, but how could I when I knew this blue moon had arrived with some bad news, too?

I was about to shut the curtains when I felt it; coldness crept up my body.

I froze in my place. I couldn’t move.

Something was appearing or happening around me.

The dirty gray smoke had an aura that was hard to define. It was heavy, dirty, and impalpable. It started slowly but then started to slick around my neck, like a slithering serpent reaching for my throat.

I wanted to remove the smoke from coming closer to my face, but it was almost as if my hands were betraying me; my body was betraying me.

Just like it started, it suddenly stopped, and I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling at ease.

However, my relief was momentary. The next second, I realized I was not in the same room, Maverick’s private house.

I was somewhere else.

I looked around anxiously, my foot almost slipping from the edge as the rock under my foot broke and fell.

With my heart beating at the pace of a bullet train, I looked down from the cliff and saw skeletons sprawled all over.

I have never been to hell, I wasn’t a demon, but I knew this wasn’t hell.

There was no heat, lava, or anything I had heard or read of, but it was a dark place for evil.

There was no greenery in sight. Even the trees were dried up to the core. No other creatures were in sight. The soil was a dirty gray, and the rocks were like dried-up lava, brittle and weird.

And just when I thought things could go any worse, I heard the sound of vultures flying into the sky.

I looked up and raised my brows in surprise. Even the vultures weren’t alive. Their eyes were sunken, and there was only a red glint, like a lead, in them.

I realized that they were probably keeping an eye on me, so I looked around.

"I know you are watching me. Why have you brought me here?" I asked.

As oblivious as I am to things around me, I wasn’t stupid to know who brought me here, especially when the Lycans warned me he would meet me before Blue Moon.

He was indeed true to his schedule, and it was epic how pointless all the security was in the end.

"For someone who has no idea of where she is, you sure are cunning," I heard a slithering voice, like that of a serpent hissing and a shiver ran down my spine when I felt someone breathing on my neck.

I quickly turned around to see the person, but no one was there.

"Then again, I expect no less from the person who bears my heart. I mean, the heart that will make me live," I heard the whisper in my ears again, making me turn around instinctively.

I reached out for my dagger, but to my surprise, the dagger I had placed on my waist for self-defense was nowhere to be found.

"You can’t hurt me. Not when none of us are actually here," The whisper came again before the man appeared before me.

Ironically, it started with his hollow chest, the only part he was missing before his face finally formed.

My pupils dilated when I saw Tyler’s face on the devil’s face; the only difference was that he had a long scar on his face.

"Surprised?" The devil asked me, and I gulped.

’I feel like someone manipulated my thoughts,’ Tyler’s words echoed in my ears, and the man before me smirked.

"That’s very sharp of you to think. I am indeed the one who was the creator of the drama you went through in the royal palace, the person who was leading that stupid Alpha’s mind. Don’t blame me. He was easiest to manipulate with his evil mind," The man said, and I gritted my teeth.

I didn’t want to talk to him, not wanting to hurt my head with his useless talk, because I knew he was talking to provoke me.

"aren’t you curious why I called you here? Well, that’s kind of disappointing. Where is the fun? The way you fought back when Tyler, I mean, I was trying to take advantage of you, I knew we would have great chemistry," He said.

I still didn’t say anything.

"I won’t be taking your heart anymore. That red coral inside you is far more important and precious," he said, and this time, it caught me off-guard.

The Lycans clearly said he needed my heart to stay alive, then what was the matter?

"Now I want you as a whole. We will make a baby, and you will offer that baby’s heart to me. You will help me stay alive for longer as my bride," the devil said, and I widened my eyes when realization dawned upon me.
