Valencia didn’t say anything.

Though she was pretending to be okay, she wasn’t. She was pretending to be tough and unfazed but was indeed fazed.

After suffering Alpha Tyler’s betrayal, it was hard for her to trust anyone, but she still trusted Maverick.

However, these days, he was hiding stuff from her.

She got a call from Tory, who had their rogue spies near the Dark Callisto pack to ensure her constant safety, and he told her everything.

He told her how the Dark Callisto pack elders were planning on getting their alpha married to Amelia.

And he didn’t tell her such an important thing.

If this wasn’t enough, he had to bring the girl here.

She didn’t suspect his intentions, but what was he actually doing to let Amelia know he wasn’t with her?

The girl daringly held his elbows intimately; he almost hugged her to shield her before everyone.

If this wasn’t an insult to her, then what was it?

She bet if it had been her hugging any other man, his male ego would have indeed been triggered.

She thought she would tell him about everything she suffered once he was here.

That was the plan.

Valencia wanted to tell him everything about the rogues who almost attacked her today, how she met a weird rogue from the past, how she tackled all the issues, the truth about the flowers, her father, how the elders in the council perceived her before and now, everything.

When they had time with each other, they made out and didn’t get the opportunity to talk, but after seeing all this, she did not know if she had the heart to do it anymore.

’Don’t overthink so much, Valencia. I know you are hurt, and the past isn’t letting us trust anyone, but see this from his point of view, too. Aren’t you interacting with other males too?’ Aurora asked.

Valencia scoffed.

’Well, those males don’t want to mate, bed, and marry me, Aurora. Stop comforting me with these empty words. I do not suspect that he has ulterior motives. I am hurt, and I have the right to be,’ Valencia retorted before she took a deep breath.

Matilda and Tyler, who were standing at some distance and watching everything, sighed.

"Look at her. She can’t be satisfied with just one man. She loves this kind of attention. Did you want to go for her? That loose character?" Matilda asked, shading her character.

Tyler, however, had completely different thoughts.

He looked at her and wondered what was so special about her that everyone, including himself, was swooned by her beauty.

Why wasn’t he able to see her beauty earlier?

Before coming here, he thought he wanted her for himself because his heart changed after hearing about her powers.

Now that he knew she was powerful and would take him to higher positions, he wanted her back, but after seeing her today for the first time, he realized what he had missed.

It wasn’t her powers, it wasn’t her connections, and it was definitely not her sass.

He missed this: her soft era, her beautiful look, her smile, her aura, her attractive vibes, her radiating beauty, her charming face, her alluring body, and, more than that, her personality.

This was the real diamond hidden under all the gold in the name of her powers and connections.

Today, he realized that he had always been in love with her. That was the reason he was so hurt that she turned out to be his mate, so he went ahead and slept with the one person who bullied her most.

He wanted her to hate him because he loved her.

Because he was afraid that if she didn’t hate him, he would slip and accept her as his Luna.

Yes, he was power-hungry at that time and chose it over his love, but now he doesn’t have any reason to.

"What I can see is a girl who has so many powerful options but still chooses to keep her dignity. Yes, I wanted to choose her, but at least because she is clear in her conscience," Tyler whispered.

Though his whisper was barely audible, Matilda and his beta, Kyle, could clearly hear him due to the pack bond.

Kyle looked at Matilda from the corner of his eyes, clearing his throat when he saw the broken look on her face that she quickly masked behind her facade of nonchalance.

"I am sorry I dragged you into this," Valencia finally apologized to Dylan after she calmed her raging mind.

Dylan furrowed his brows.

"What is there to be sorry about? It’s my birthday. Of course, the first dance of the beauty of the night should belong to me," Dylan said.

Valencia smiled, and after dancing for a while with him, she bowed to him with respect before turning on her heels.

Prince Ethan looked at Alpha Maverick, who had calmed down and returned to his usual form. Sensing the disrespect from him, the man stepped ahead and walked to stand beside him.

"I have been wondering from where I remembered Miss Valencia," Prince Ethan said.

Maverick looked at the man briefly before looking back at his woman, who had been taken for another dance by her uncle. They were probably trying to make her feel good, something he should’ve done but failed at.

Instead, he ruined her mood even more.

Prince Ethan wasn’t a fool. He saw the look Maverick had in his eyes for Valencia. Besides, he had already heard about the rumors that Maverick was choosing someone as his woman.

And now that he was here, he could see who exactly this woman was.

It was the same woman who had caught his attention because of her liveliness.

"However, I didn’t know the council members would appoint a rogue for me. I had asked them to send me a spy to help me look into what Alpha Maverick was up to so I could know about his next moves. Guess who that was?" Prince Ethan asked.

Alpha Maverick paused in his thoughts.

What did he say?

"It was Miss Valencia who had been spying on your pack and giving me all the information about what was happening there. It was quite easy, and now I can see why exactly it was easy for her," Prince Ethan said.
