Chapter 240: The first strike

ALPHA MAVERICK’S POV

"Is this the place?" I asked Shadow, who looked at the directions on the phone and nodded back at me.

"According to intel, this should be the place," he said.

I hummed at him before looking out of the car window.

Currently, we are moving closer to the southern regions of the Country, which are known to be heavily populated by the rogues controlled by Glacier.

Since Valencia left for the council chambers for her acceptance ceremony, I thought this was the best time to make our first strike towards the rogue head who has started to haunt my woman’s life.

We weren’t going to attack the main head base of the rogue head.

Rather than that, we would attack a small subsidiary’s headquarters. According to the data Greta collected, this area contained around 300-350 rogues, and we were more than enough and prepared to fight this number.

Since they have already made a warning to me from their side by trying to touch my woman, it would only be fair if I did the same.

This would be serving as my warning to Glacier.

However, I won’t stop here. This was my first strike, which I led myself because of Valencia’s absence, and I had nothing better to do.

But starting forward, we would keep attacking Glacier’s small areas—or should I say the area he has illegally captured and taken under his control?

Valencia’s idea of freeing the packs from the rogues’ tortuous ways and using their teams to wipe them was also brilliant.

I told her to drop the idea because it was useless and was those alpha’s issues, but honestly, I didn’t want her to work on it.

Rather, I was going to work on it.

As one of the largest and strongest packs in the world, we had more than enough resources and manpower to act upon all those plans one by one.

I liked Valencia’s way of thinking. It matched with mine.

We need to weaken this rogue head named Glacier. When he thinks he is losing on all sides and makes a mistake in his panicked frenzy, that is when we will attack, too.

"We are here, Alpha," Shadow said, and we stopped near the forests before walking toward the van that was moving behind us.

"Grab your weapons," I said.

I wasn’t some fool who wanted to waste my energy on these lousy rogues. And that’s why, rather than practicing ancient swords and daggers, I let my men grab the latest technology ammunition that we bought from human companies.

Once everyone had gathered their guns, assault ruffles, and grenades, we started walking inside the forest with hushed steps to avoid immediately alerting them.

I nodded at three men, who nodded back at me and rushed ahead before hiding behind the trees.

We continued this process so that my men would spread throughout the forest near the head base and surround their base location.

Since there were no lakes or any other water bodies, the chances of them being able to run away were almost nil.

"Let’s go," I said to my men.

When I gave them the green signals, they used their bows and arrows and shot the drugged arrows towards the guards guarding the place.

Tracy, one of the best chameleon spies on our team, stepped behind the significant warehouse-like thing designed like a mansion and placed the machine of the mines we were about to spread all over.

"I am ready," Tracy said before she climbed the tree, blending into the leaves because of her green clothes.

I looked at Shadow and nodded back at his team.

They immediately threw the hooks with the ropes on the upper region of the warehouse.

Once our men climbed the warehouse, they took a few minutes before showing us a green signal.

As soon as they showed us the green signal, I raised my hand before giving everyone the signal to march and move forward.

"Hey! Who are you? " one of the rogues stepping out of the large doors shouted, and Shadow quickly rushed forward, ready to snap his neck, but I shook my head at him.

"Let him scream. Let him tell everyone they are under attack so they can come back at us. Or they will call it a cold-blooded annihilation," I said.

Shadow nodded at me and let the man go.

However, as soon as the man started to walk inside the warehouse, I pulled out my pistol and shot his back.

"Then again, isn’t that exactly how they like it? Cold Blooded murderers. This is exactly how they killed my parents," I said, stepping over the body of the rogue who fell on the ground, dead.

"Make sure not a single one of them runs out of here alive," I said, my voice loud and clear. The rogues who had been working earlier and probably smelt our presence started to come out with weapons in their hands.

I smiled, licking my bottom lip as Reaper stood from his place.

"Maverick, please let me take over. It’s been so long since I last drank some fresh blood," Reaper looked at all the rogues excitedly, wanting to bathe in their blood.

’What are you talking about? Look at all our men who have prepared so much for this attack. We have brought so many weapons. What will they do if you take over? All their efforts would go in vain,’ I said.

’Well, you should be happy instead. If I take over and kill all the rogues, your ammunition will be saved, and your men won’t be tired. Think about it. Please let me enjoy it a little. I am already sad because Valencia is no longer with me and has left me. At least you try to understand,’ Reaper pleaded with me, making a puppy face, and I sighed.

I took a deep breath before looking at Shadow. He knew exactly what was going on inside my head. After all, he was my right-hand man and best friend and had known me since we were kids.

"It’s okay. I won’t be scared," Shadow said as if comforting himself, and I smirked at Reaper.

"You heard him? He won’t be scared. You can go ahead with whatever you want to do to him," I told Reaper, and Shadow shook his head at me.

"No, sir. That’s not what I meant. I mean to say -"

"Stop speaking," I said when I saw the rogues finally starting to appear.

Well, it was definitely going to be fun.

’Take over,’ I told Reaper, who smiled at me like a happy animal.

I closed my eyes, feeling my body transforming.

Wait.

I was feeling my body transforming.

I opened my eyes and looked at Reaper, who smirked at me.

This sneaky bastard.

He wasn’t changing into his wolf form. He was changing into his beast form, which is half human, half Lycan, and possessing the capabilities of a werewolf.
