Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 239: No Skills

Chapter 239: No Skills

VALENCIA’S POV

I walked to the so-called training fields and looked at all the weapons displayed, scoffing when my favorite bow and arrow were absent.

"Did you not hear my choice of weapon?" I asked Carl who was responsible for arranging things.

The man turned to look at me before taking a deep breath and looking behind me at someone.

’He indeed heard your choice. It was me who denied it," Uncle Jonathan walked ahead.

I furrowed my brows.

"Reason?"

"It’s a close-range fight, Valencia. Do you think you will be able to counter the guards with bows and arrows? Think carefully," He said.

I had thought it through. It wasn’t hard for me to tackle these guards with bows and arrows. I have practiced a lot for it.

Though my practice was always about taking revenge on Alpha Tyler and destroying the Hazel Moon pack, that didn’t mean I wasn’t serious about this training.

However, I didn’t want to argue with him.

"What do you suggest I should choose then?" I asked.

"A spear," Uncle Jonathan said.

A spear? I could see where he was coming from. A spear was a perfect weapon to dodge the person’s attacks because of its long rod, and the sharp, pointed blade was a good thing to hurt.

"Okay," I said to him.

’So you are choosing a spear? I will bring one more," Carl said.

"No. I am choosing a dagger," I said.

"A dagger? Have you lost your mind?" Dylan asked.

I sighed.

"What will be the use in winning whatever training session this was if my own people don’t believe in me? I am saying things after thinking them through, too. And no, I am not underestimating anyone. I have read the rules, too. Once I choose a weapon, I can’t withdraw," I said.

The three looked at each other, but Uncle Jonathan nodded his head after some time, and I smiled.

I was about to thank him for trusting him when his following words stopped me.

"It’s okay if you don’t win. You are a hierarchical member anyways," He said.

I gritted my teeth at him, and he reverted with a smile, making me sigh.

It was useless to talk to them verbally. I would instead prove my capabilities to them through my skills.

After half an hour, all the council members appeared on the training grounds and took their seats around the training field so they could watch the match from the best vantage point.

I cracked the bones in my neck and was about to enter the ring when I saw an incoming call from Alpha Maverick.

"Give me a minute," I said to the host. I was about to leave to pick up my man’s phone when one of the elders, who had yet to go to his seat, walked out of the chambers.

He looked at me and scoffed.

"Do you think this ritual training is some kind of joke? We have taken time from our busy schedule for this, and you can’t keep your phone aside? Such a bratty attitude," the elder said, and I closed my eyes.

"It’s an important call," I said, but when I saw the contempt in the man’s eyes, my mood triggered again. This time, I wasn’t the only one; Aurora felt irritated, and I must mention that my wolf rarely feels like this.

Most of the time, she only tells me to calm down.

’Are you okay?’ I asked her, and she hummed.

’I don’t like the elders here. They are comparing us with your father repeatedly and calling you a brat and so many names. What was the use of that fake shitshow if they wanted to behave like this?’ She asked, and I sighed at her.

’Well, this is the reality of the world. They act nice before their leaders, but when the leaders leave, they show their true faces. It’s okay. Don’t be sad for me. You know I can handle things myself,’ I told her before turning my phone off.

If they want to see me become serious about this training, they will; in that case, they will get to see that only.

The host stepped ahead and told me the details of the first guard who was going to fight me. He was a new recruit, but Carl told me he was good with his skills and sword.

The host announced my name, and I noticed that he didn’t say anything about my strength or skills. I looked at Dylan. This was not only insulting but mortifying.

Then again, maybe it was part of the ritual since I wasn’t on the council, and they didn’t want to acknowledge my skills just by Dylan’s words.

It’s okay. I will introduce myself with my skills.

"I have a request to make," I told the host, who looked at Uncle Jonathan.

"What is it?" The host asked.

"I have to fight ten guards here to show my strength, and naturally, you guys will try to give me time in between to catch my breath. I don’t want that," I said to the host before looking at Uncle Jonathan.

"Send all of them regularly without pausing. Once I am done with the first guard, send the second one inside the ring," I said to him.

"For someone who doesn’t even know what kind of guards she is going to fight, aren’t you a bit too smug? Don’t underestimate the power of your opponent," The host said.

I looked at everyone sitting around the ring and hummed.

"It looks like ’smugness’ is your favorite word. I have heard this word more than five times from different people. Once I am done fighting, I will lend you a dictionary to increase your vocabulary," I said to the host before applying the bandages to my hands and grabbing my special dagger.

This dagger was special because I earned it through my fighting skills from the witch I had met last time when I wanted to send Alina back to her demon kingdom.

At that time, I didn’t know the witch had come to help Alina and not harm her. I fought her back even when she was using her magic on elements to attack me. I obviously lost, but she was impressed by my skills and gave me this dagger.

"Let’s begin," I said to the host and entered the training ring.

The recruit guard, who had joined the council four months ago, walked inside the training ring with the sword and cracked the bones in his neck before smirking at me.

"Attack," I told him.

"Why don’t you attack me? Since you are a girl, I will give you a head start," the guard said.

’I am going to drink his blood for acting sexist with me,’ Aurora said, standing from her place, and I widened my eyes.

’Aurora, what are you doing? Why are you standing? I can handle it. And what the hell is wrong with your speech? How can you talk about drinking someone’s blood like this? Didn’t we decide we would only drink Maverick’s blood and no one else’s?’ I asked her, but rather than answer me, she smirked.

I looked at the guard before me, who was smirking at me.

"What happened? Having second thoughts?" He asked as he saw me looking at my dagger.

I hummed.

"Well, I will if you want me to fight everyone and win. But no more talking about blood," I told Aurora, who hummed but didn’t sit down.

With a sigh, I used my speed, and before the guy could strike me with his sword, I hit the region below his ear with the back of my dagger, making him fall immediately.

"Next," I said without looking behind while everyone looked at me in shock.

I tilted my head, smiling at the elder who was calling me out on my ’smug’ attitude.

"Are you guys deaf? I said next," I said to no one in particular, not moving my gaze away from the elder.

Two men walked inside the training ring to pull the first guard’s body away as he was rendered unconscious.

I returned to my original place before looking at Dylan, who looked back at me with mixed emotions.

’One down, nine more to go,’ I told Aurora, who hummed.

’Who cares? I am going to feel down until I get to hear Mavericks’ sexy voice," she said, making me realize what was getting on her nerves, and I sighed.

Well, this was definitely going to take some time.
