Chapter 238: Personal Minotaur

Chapter 238: Personal Minotaur

VALENCIA’S POV

’You are certainly living your life happily. Have you forgotten about me?’ The familiar sound resonated around me, making me realize I was back in the same dream, and I sighed.

How could I forget one thing that has made my nights and sleeping a living hell?

It was the same cycle.

I would appear in this castle, the same castle whose walls seem dark and black but are painted with blood, and the paths everywhere are followed by death.

This voice depicted that the blood puddle was around me.

The blood puddle, which takes the form of a translucent human being, haunts me like a never-ending dream from god knows when.

I stood from my place.

Yes. Like all the time, I fell into this dream and sighed.

Looking around, I walked calmly in the opposite direction, this time to find my way out of this labyrinth.

"You are awfully calm today," the familiar voice said, and I suppressed the urge to scoff, still unsure how much such a dream affected me in reality.

The last time I tried to provoke this blood puddle person, he held my shoulder, and the burn on my skin had actually appeared in reality.

This scenario was weird and hard for me to make anyone believe in. That was the reason, apart from Alina, I haven’t told anyone about it.

Alina didn’t like what she heard, so she told me not to interact with this blood puddle in my dream. We don’t know if all these things were related to my curse.

’So you are not going to talk to me today? You are not going to scream in my face about leaving you alone or anything else? What fun would it be like that?’ The blood puddle tried to speak to me again, and I clenched my fists.

Though I couldn’t see it yet, I knew the disgusting thing was somewhere around me.

"Do you not want to know why I appear in your dream or what the significance of this dream is at all? I thought you were better than that. Well, if you are not interested, shall I go and see if Maverick would be -’

"What the hell do you want from me?" I shouted at nothing in particular.

As soon as I did that, the blood puddle appeared before me. It was faceless, yet I could feel the smugness and smirk on its face.

"And the chase begins. Run," The blood puddle said, and I clenched my fists, knowing all too well that if I didn’t start running this time, it would touch me again, and I couldn’t afford to bear more marks on my body than there already were.

"Why do you force me to speak to you when you don’t want to give me any answers? What kind of sick game are you playing with me?" I asked the blood puddle while running the fastest I could in my dream.

I tried to open multiple doors on my way, hoping this time I could enter a different room, choose a different path, and find a way out of this labyrinth.

I was about to turn to the right, the same direction where that lake was full of blood, because every time I fell into that disgusting liquid body, I was able to wake up from this haunting dream when I bumped into something.

Stumbling back at the harsh impact, I fell on my butt, looking up.

I have been into this castle many times but have never bumped into something... or should I say, someone.

Before me, standing in a black cloak, was a person. His face and body were completely hidden, but his gloved black hands extended towards me.

"I can save you," The person’s deep voice echoed, making me freeze in my place.

A chill ran down my spine when I realized the voice was similar to Alpha Maverick.

What was going on? Was this some kind of illusion? But I could touch this person, and it didn’t end with a burning sensation.

Seeing the puddle still behind me from a distance, I gulped and nodded at the man before taking his hand.

"Let’s go," The man said as he started walking in rushed steps towards another corridor, the corridor that never opened up for me.

The hope of finally being able to escape this labyrinth for good started to engulf my heart, and I breathed in relief.

"Who are you? Is this blood puddle haunting your dreams just like mine? How long has it been going for you?" I asked, not liking the silence as we walked through the blood-painted walls of this dark castle that had a weird stench and aura almost equivalent to death.

It was freezing.

The temperature was average, and I wasn’t feeling the cold physically, but it still felt freezing in my heart, and I needed some kind of distraction from this feeling.

The man didn’t speak and kept walking in directions I had never seen or been to.

’Sometimes what perceives our eyes and reaches out to us is the devil dressed like an angel to show us what our heart wants to believe in,’

Suddenly, this thought crept into my head out of nowhere, and I stopped, making the man stop.

The devil appears dressed like an angel to fulfill our wishes. My wish here is to get out of this labyrinth because I think if I am able to get out of this once, I will always be able to do it.

The man didn’t turn around to ask me what was wrong or why I had stopped. He just kept standing in the same position.

I looked at his hand, mine, and felt a weird liquid-like thing coming out of his gloves.

I pulled my hand out of his grip, looked at the liquid-like thing, and felt my heart start to drum in my chest.

The blood puddle was before me earlier, but the moment we changed the corridor, it was nowhere to be seen. This castle was its arena. Why did it not follow me?

A weird lightning resonated in the corridor, the thunderclap making me cover my ears, but I didn’t close my eyes. And since I didn’t, I could see what that red liquid was. It was blood.

This man was dripping blood.

I stepped back in horror.

In order to save myself from that blood puddle, I probably followed an even more powerful entity who wanted to hurt me.

"Who am I?" The man finally met, his voice still sounding the same.

"I am your personal Minotaur," The man whispered before it turned to me, his face hidden, but the black aura around him started engulfing me, and I couldn’t help but scream in pain.

~~~~~~
"Hey, hey, it’s just a dream; you are fine," Someone shook me violently, and tears brimmed my eyes.
"Maverick," I spoke his name before pulling him close.
"Thank God you are here. I was so scared, and—" I paused when the scent registered in my head.
This wasn’t my Maverick.
I pushed the person away, my gaze falling on Aarav, who smiled awkwardly.
Quickly covering my chest with the duvet, I glared at the man.
"What are you doing in my room?" I seethed through my teeth.
"Uhh, Dylan asked me to call you for the training. When I came here, you were whispering things in your sleep. I called your name a few times, but you started screaming, so I shook you to bring you out of the nightmare. I am sorry for crossing the boundary," Aarav said.
I took a deep breath before nodding and dismissing him.
Once he left, I placed my hand over my heart. As if one monster wasn’t enough in my dream, one more had to appear.
And what did he call himself? My personal Minotaur?
Wait...Wasn’t this the same syllable Alina had used to describe the monster of my dreams? She knew about it before I met him.
But how was that possible? Wasn’t she just a demon girl?
