Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 237: Prove your worth

Chapter 237: Prove your worth

VALENCIA’S POV

"Who are you? Show yourself," I said to the rogue as it stepped ahead.

The rogue wolf wasn’t a regular wolf. Its size was almost comparable to Alpha Maverick’s wolf, and his wolf was the largest I had ever seen.

He was a beast alpha for a reason, and for this wolf to be almost equivalent to him, I knew I would be in deep shit if I did not tackle the situation appropriately.

My hand on my dagger tightened, and I was about to pull it out when the rogue suddenly sat like a tamed animal.

I furrowed my brows.

This... Why does this feel like a Deja Vu?

I watched as the rogue wolf started to write something on the ground, making me press my lips.

What was the obsession of these animals around me who liked to write on soil?

They can clearly turn into their human forms and talk to me like a normal person would.

With a sigh, I was about to step ahead when the rogue stepped backward to give me enough space to come and read what he had written, but before I could do that, I heard a hooting sound, and my gaze went toward the sky where Happy appeared out of nowhere.

Seeing his sharp eyes as he looked at the rogue wolf, I knew what was going through his head.

"Happy! No," I told my ancient bird to stop him before he launched a fire attack on the rogue wolf.

The bird didn’t react but kept hovering over us, probably to ensure the wolf wouldn’t harm me, and I smiled in gratitude.

Sometimes, I feel that no matter what I go through or what kind of situation I am in, I always have people helping and protecting me who appear out of nowhere.

With a sigh, I read what was written on the ground.

"Do you remember me?" The wolf asked.

Do I remember him? Of course not. How was I supposed to remember anyone in this wolf form? Especially a wolf this size?

"I don’t know," I said.

The wolf looked at me for a few seconds before he wrote something and stepped back again.

I walked ahead to read what was written, not loosening my grip on the dagger, just in case this wolf suddenly thought it was a good idea to attack me out of nowhere.

"You gave me hope. You gave me life," The wolf said, and I furrowed my brows.

I gave him hope and life. To a rogue wolf? This size?

Was he someone from my team? If Theo, Tory, and Jason had sent someone my way, they would have informed me.

Did he come here on his own?

"Be clear," I said to the wolf. The wolf sighed before shaking his head. I thought he would write something for me, but rather than that, he left.

Once the rogue wolf left, I considered things, but I couldn’t think of any person I saved or had any hope for.

This rogue is undoubtedly playing tricks on me...

Wait. My pupils dilated when realization dawned upon me.

I felt Deja Vu hitting me because this was the same scenario that happened in the forests of the Dark Callisto pack, too.

That wolf that had appeared out of nowhere and told me he didn’t want to harm me and I belonged to him.

He was about to tell me who he was, but before that, Alpha Maverick appeared, and the wolf left.

This was the same wolf.

Does that mean this wolf was one of my stalkers and came here from the dark Callisto pack?

For him to know I came here and follow me here, just how precise his stalking was?

How did he know about me being here? And how did he enter the forests belonging to the council chambers?

Many questions started swirling in my head as I turned around and went back to the council chambers.

"Miss Valencia, Sir Dylan has been looking for you," One of the guards walked to me, and I nodded at him before entering.

"What is it?" I asked when I noticed Carl, Uncle Jonathan, and elder Mason standing inside the office and looking at me seriously.

"You know the rituals of council member acceptance?" Mason asked me, and I shook my head, unsure if that was a good thing.

Dylan sighed before looking at Mason with a ’told you so’ expression, and then all of them sighed like I was some kind of lost case.

"Let’s begin the first session tonight itself. You will be training and have to prove your worth to be a council member by fighting a few guards. The time you take to beat the guards will decide your position in the council chambers since you are not a hierarchical member," Mason said.

He pulled out what looked like a sheet containing information about all the guards and the weapons they used while fighting, making me realize it was more like a dual contest. I looked at Dylan for an explanation.

"You will get the time to choose one weapon you are comfortable with," He said.

Hearing his words, I couldn’t help but scoff at them.

"Are you sure I can choose the weapon I like? Will that even be legal?" I blurted as I looked at the guards’ names and specialties.

"You can’t use any modern technology. Wouldn’t that make it useless?" Another elder walked in, and remembering he had mocked me back in the day, I smirked at him.

"Oh? I wasn’t thinking of using any modern-day technology. Then again, I assure you if I start to use the one I like, none of your guards will come out of that ring alive," I said, looking directly into his eyes until Dylan cleared his throat and held my hand to pull me back by his side.

"And what would that be?" The elder looked at me arrogantly, and I looked at Uncle Jonathan, who shook his head at me.

I would have definitely given him a demo to wipe the smugness off his face, but I didn’t want to go against one person who always believed in me.

"I will be ready. Just tell me what are the options. I can use daggers, swords, spears, anything that’s allowed," I said.

"You know, despite being the daughter of the council head, Dylan has never shown this kind of smugness to his elders. A woman should know when to stay low, or you will definitely see your low soon," The elder said, and I took a deep breath.

I shook my head and was about to leave when I remembered what Mason said.

Since he wasn’t that old, I looked into his eyes.

"I agree with all the things you guys said, but let’s not forget I am indeed a hierarchical member. Also, this kind of smugness comes with practicing, living in the woods, and surviving alone. If you think it’s wrong to be smug, how about I challenge you of authority?" I asked once Aurora gave me a green signal to go for it.

"Valencia," Uncle Jonathan looked at me, and I shrugged just like the elder had.

"I am just saying," I said before leaving the room, feeling my mood spoiled already.

I don’t think it was a good plan to come here two days ago. I should’ve instead gone to handle my team instead.

Without wasting my time, I went straight to my father’s room, which now belonged to me.
