Chapter 235: Everyone will be punished
Chapter 235: Everyone will be punished
VALENCIA’S POV
"Can you explain?" the old man asked again, and I nodded before clicking on another file that showed how I was planning to attack the rogues in solitude, targeting one location at a time.
They will think that they are being attacked by another group of rogues, but they won’t be able to figure things out until the truth about who the leader is is revealed.
The truth that a council member is behind it will not be revealed until we deal with at least 10 of the pack’s problems and get their army under control.
I showed them the entire timeline and map of how I was planning to do it.
"Thus, all I need is your permission to attack. It’s a win-win situation. If I win, you get to keep the success under the council’s name, and if I lose, you don’t need to claim it since another set of rogues will attack the rogues," I explained to them.
Uncle Jonathan wasn’t pleased with my idea. I could see it in his eyes.
Alpha Maverick wasn’t pleased when I told him a gist of what was going on inside my head.
I didn’t even tell him anything in detail, and he straightforwardly told me to leave those packs because they had brought them upon themselves.
I didn’t want to help them either.
I wasn’t that kind of Saint. Though I was on the empathetic side and felt sympathy for people way too quickly, I wasn’t a fool to meddle in something that wasn’t going to benefit me.
This was my open challenge to Glacier and his team for attacking me.
I was just using the council’s name for it. Will their names not be involved? It was a fat chance when I was already a council member.
These council members knew who I was, yet the last time I was here, they looked at me with contempt as if I were a piece of dirt. They could’ve treated me like a human even if they didn’t know I was Theodore’s daughter.
I was a petty person, and I know Uncle Jonathan and Dylan could sense something else brewing in my head.
’You are truly vicious. Aren’t you going to leave this place?’ Aurora asked, smiling at me gently, already knowing the answer.
’I told you. I will avenge my humiliation from everyone who looked down upon me. This is just the beginning. The people who did me terribly will pay with their lives, and the people who laughed at me...’ I looked at the couple of elders whose faces were clearly etched in my memories, which was the reason I didn’t accept their respect either.
They all were double-faced jerks, typical stupid men characteristics.
’Well, not everyone can be like Alpha Maverick,’ Aurora reminded me, and I hummed, remembering that I had yet to turn my phone on and contact him.
It was almost night; he must be accessible.
"And do you have the kind of people who will help you in this mission?" Another old man asked.
I looked at him and remembered him to be one of the sensible kinds, according to my research.
I nodded at him.
"I know enough people even to destroy these council chambers if I give them the kind of money they would want for the job," I smiled, letting them know I was joking.
However, the look on some of the elders’ faces was worth the joke.
"Val," Uncle Jonathan cleared his throat, and I shrugged.
"You guys can reach out to me if you have any questions. Take your time thinking about things. Carl, you can take the presentation from me and circulate it if they need any help with the data," I said before closing the file.
I obviously didn’t tell them I had an army of rogues who were ready to work for me. I merely hinted that I was going to contact some rogues and bribe them to do the work.
I could hear them whispering sentences like,
’Can we trust this new girl?’
’Well, she is Theodore’s daughter, and her methods indeed match with his,’
’We knew him for more than half of our lives. What do we know about her? Besides, don’t you know she is a rogue currently?
I felt my lips twitching at the choice of words before taking the pen drive and stuffing it in my pocket.
"When will dinner be served? I will be back by then," I asked Dylan, who walked to me.
Rather than answering me, he held my hand and pulled me out of the meeting room, not harshly but gently, like he was taking me away from the harsh sentences the council elders were spouting. I couldn’t help but smile at his gesture.
He was really protective of me.
"Do you think their words are going to hurt me? I expected better from you," I mused, and he rolled his eyes.
Rather than taking me back to my room, he took me to the garden, and I noticed the large flower fields. The fragrance immediately relaxed my nerves.
"I know you are strong enough to take care of everything. I pulled you out because I am not. You know how protective I am over you. As much as I respect these elders, they can get on my nerves too," Dylan said, rubbing the back of my knuckles.
I looked into his crystal-clear eyes, which held the same emotions I could never understand. But today, I could.
Dylan loved me. And it wasn’t the romantic kind of love. He loved me like a normal human being, someone he didn’t want to lose and wanted to protect. These emotions finally made sense.
"I can’t believe you told me you have enough space on your bed for two," I blurted out.
"Hmm?" He asked me, confused.
I smirked at him, letting the words sink in, smiling when I saw the red tint on his cheeks.
"In my defense, I wanted to keep you close without letting the secret know that I was your cousin," Dylan whispered.
"And you were fine with me crushing on you? Wanting to kiss you, make out with you, touch you in places no one ever had?" I asked, stepping closer to him and looking directly into his eyes.
His pupils dilated. He didn’t step back. He looked at me directly, and the way his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down, I knew, before knowing the truth, that he had the same thoughts about me.
"You had such thoughts?" He asked. Not wanting to embarrass him anymore, I rolled my eyes.
