Chapter 234: The council meeting
Chapter 234: The council meeting
VALENCIA’S POV
"And this is your father’s room..."
I stopped outside the room, my heart feeling emotional.
I don’t know if I was seriously overreacting. It was just a random room.
’It’s okay to feel these emotions, Valencia. It’s not a regular room. It’s your father’s, the one you wanted to meet and wished he could be there with you,’ Aurora said, and I hummed.
"I will check the room later. Can we go through the meeting first?" I asked, and Dylan looked at Uncle Jonathan, who was excited for me to look at the room.
Feeling they would misunderstand my intentions, I sighed.
"I want to enjoy the beauty of my father’s room in solace. Please give me time," I said, and Uncle Jonathan nodded at me.
We went straight to the meeting room that I asked Uncle Jonathan to schedule.
The ceremony took three days, and it happened to coincide with Dylan’s birthday, which was in three days.
It was decided that the rituals would start today, while the final acceptance would be done on his birthday before everyone so that no one would call me a rogue ever again.
"What are we going to discuss in the meeting?" I heard Carl ask Dylan, but I just sighed.
As soon as we reached the council meeting room, I looked at all the important members sitting around the large round seating and bowed to them to pay my respects.
The elders and other members bowed back as I walked to the podium with Uncle Jonathan, who knew the content of today’s discussion.
Tapping the mic, I looked at the elders for a brief second.
"Let’s not waste time on introductions. We have other pressing matters at hand," I nodded at Uncle Jonathan, who inserted the pen drive into the laptop connected to the projector. As soon as he did that, I went to the drive section and clicked the file that Jason had prepared for me.
The presentation appeared on the large screen.
"Can you guys see what this is all about?" I asked.
I moved a few slides and went straight to the important content.
"This presentation is about the rogue head of the southern regions. I am sure everyone has heard of him. He goes by the name Glacier, which we aren’t sure if it’s his real name. Recently, he has been seen buying multiple illegal things from the black market. Things like..."
I changed the slide and showed everyone pictures of chemicals used to hide scents create bombs, weapons, and ammunition.
"This is Glacier’s right and left-hand man, Zues and Parker," I displayed the images of both of them before showing them some of the other leadership images Jason collected.
I explained to them how these rogues were involved in the recent attack and that they had been planning major attacks on the Dark Callisto pack.
Many people would think that Alpha Maverick could care for such things and were right in thinking that, but that wasn’t the most essential part.
To attack Alpha of the Dark Callisto pack, the rogues have been preying on smaller packs to gain power over the armies of the other packs, which gives them an added benefit.
For that purpose, they have already started infiltrating packs.
That was the reason Alpha Maverick held an alpha meeting recently. Still, before that, he had conducted a private meeting, calling alphas from various regions and those who wanted to participate.
I told them about all the packs currently facing issues from the rogues. A couple made a mistake by colluding with the rogues so they could climb up the ladder of social norms and political power.
However, the rogues cunningly took over the authorities of their pack, and now, the women in their packs were suffering terribly.
They had asked for help from Alpha Maverick, but with the increasing rogue attacks on the city, Alpha Maverick can provide limited assistance.
As council members who have always sworn to the well-being of all werewolf species, we should help those packs first to maintain law and order.
This will include eliminating the rogues from those packs and taking the alpha’s armies under us.
We can help them train better and take a few of them to fight against the rogue head who has been persistent for over a decade.
This will not only send them into a panic frenzy because no one has directly challenged their authorities apart from Alpha Maverick.
Faced with such opposition from all sides, he is bound to make mistakes, and that would be our chance to strike harder.
I know it wasn’t as easy as I was telling them, but I knew this way was going to work. This will at least eliminate the rogues from the packs one by one and weaken them.
The enormous strength he has under him will start weakening.
They can attack so freely because they think no one is daring to go against them, and that is why the alphas have started to trust the council less than before.
This was something that I found about recently.
When I talked to Theo and Tory about joining the council, they asked me if I was sure about it because they knew I craved dominating power. They told me how even the smaller alphas have started to distrust the council members of lower ranks because they never help them.
As the smaller alphas, they barely get a chance to meet the council members other than the occasional parties, and most of the high-ranking leaders are busy with strong alphas.
The lower-ranking council members don’t even look at them because they think the alphas will only yap about stuff they are not interested in.
After I had finished speaking, I looked at all the council members, and they raised their eyebrows at me.
"Where did you gather all this information from?" One of the council members asked.
I took a deep breath.
"I have my resources," I answered before looking at Dylan and Uncle Jonathan to see if they liked my proposal.
If the council head and his son agree with the proposal, the deal is considered 50% done.
Seeing the neutral expressions on their faces, I gulped, unsure about how to perceive their reactions.
Was it too much to handle in one single go?
"The idea seems fine," Mason, the one person who knew about a spy named V working for the council, said, and I took a deep breath.
Well, I at least have one person in my favor.
"It amused me," Uncle Jonathan said.
I narrowed my brows. What amazed him? He knew I was working on rogues for a long time. That was the reason I took care of many missions hidden under the name V.
What was so surprising about it?
"It amazed me how you came to the council chambers and took over your responsibilities immediately. You are just like your dad, even better," Uncle Jonathan said.
My heart skipped a beat at the compliment, and heat crept up my neck.
Was my dad like this, too? There were so many things I wanted to know about him. It was so unfortunate that I was getting to know him at a critical time like this and had so many things on my plate.
If not, rather than holding this meeting, I would’ve gathered information about my dad, heard stories about his work, and how he used to act.
I would’ve roamed the attic and searched the databases where all the information about him would’ve been.
It was really stressful how I was so close to where my father was but far from it at the same time.
"I like the proposal, but how are you planning to execute it? Things like these sound good in theory and such presentations. Do you have any idea how we should act? I hope you have the basic idea of the number of soldiers we have," one of the elder council members asked, and I nodded at him.
His question was genuine. I was glad someone was talking about the presentation rather than my dad because I didn’t want any distractions.
"We will tell you about the council army and its roles. You can form a plan and present it to us. This information you gave us is wonderful, and we will surely consider it," Uncle Jonathan said.
He probably thought I had no plans, and I couldn’t help but smile.
"You don’t need to do that. While I don’t have all the information about the council army, I don’t need that either," I said.
"Aren’t you acting too proud? Do you want us to permit you to use the council army without any pre-plans?" The same elder asked, a scoff leaving his mouth.
I shook my head at him.
"No. Rather, I want you guys to permit me to take action against the rogues at a personal level," I said, my words evidently surprising Uncle Jonathan, Dylan, and Carl, who looked at me with disbelief.
