Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 144: His aura
Chapter 144: His aura
VALENCIA’S POV
I was surprised.
Honestly, surprise would be a smaller word to describe what I felt.
How can an Alpha have more aura and dominance than the Lycan itself even though we all know the Lycans are the supreme beings?
How can he have more confidence and power in his walk than anyone I have ever seen?
And I assure you this was definitely not because I liked him or something.
The way he stood there after killing the last remaining rogue who came to abduct me, I didn’t know what to think of it as I averted my gaze from him.
This was my chance to leave.
I wasn’t ready to face him. Not because I did something wrong but because I didn’t know what to say to him. This wasn’t related to him either way.
I stepped ahead, ready to leave when I heard his cold dominating voice.
"If you dared to move another step, I promise you what will come next, you won’t exactly be able to escape that,"
His voice was dangerously alluring with a hint of threat and warning which immediately compelled me to pause.
He was calm. Even though he was standing so far from me, I couldn’t feel any angry or annoyed vibes from him, which meant he was calm.
I looked at Asher, who was also looking at the man behind me before he shifted his gaze toward me.
"Are you okay?" He asked and I nodded my head.
"Our conversation wasn’t over," Asher said and I nodded again.
The conversation would have to be completed later for sure.
"Alpha Maverick," Asher nodded at Maverick, who was probably nearing me and it didn’t settle with me as it was a Lycan who was greeting him first and not the other way around.
Was Alpha Maverick really that powerful that not only the council, the royal, and even the Lycans respected him and tried to stay on his good terms?
How come I didn’t know about such a man until I saw him?
"Asher," Maverick’s cold voice resonated not too far away from me and my heart skipped a beat at the realization that he was deliberately moving slowly towards me.
He was probably enjoying the reaction my body was having, the anxiousness that was probably seeping through my aura.
"What are you doing here?" Maverick asked Asher, who looked at me as if silently asking whether he could tell the alpha about what we were talking about or how we met.
I wanted to shake my head at him. Maverick knew nothing about my situation or what was going on with me.
However, before I could shake my head, Maverick snuck his hand around my waist, making my pupils dilate.
He wasn’t doing this in public in front of the Lycan and his men, right? What was seriously going on inside his head?
Maverick turned me around so I was facing him.
"Look at me," He said when I forbade myself to look into his eyes.
I didn’t comply.
"I said look at me, Mitsuki," Maverick’s voice thickened with underlying anger that didn’t look like it was directed at me, and I clenched my fists by my side.
He sighed loudly, his warm breath almost fanning my face before he gripped my chin and forced me to look into his eyes.
I looked at him with tearful eyes.
’Are you seriously that emotional?’ Aurora smirked at me, knowing all too well how I was trying to pretend to be scared and sad.
Maverick kept looking at me for a few seconds before he brushed my cheeks with his knuckles, a small smile appearing on his face before he leaned forward, his lips almost touching my earlobe, making my heart fasten its pace.
"Look at me with those tears in your eyes when I am buried deep inside you, tearing up your walls, consuming you, sucking every inch of you. I would surely love that," Maverick whispered in my ears.
Something skipped. I don’t know if that was even possible, but I almost felt like even my pussy skipped a beat at his choice of words and I gulped.
What the hell?
His voice was barely a whisper and I was sure no one else could hear him, but still, how could he....
"Stop pretending to be sad. I know you aren’t," Maverick continued to whisper, making me pout now.
Well, that was annoying. It wasn’t good that he was able to see right through my facade.
But was I going to give up so soon?
"Do you think I am pretending to be sad?" I asked him, and he stood straight to look at me for a few seconds before humming.
"You have been a very bad girl, Valencia. First, you broke laws, then you went ahead nullifying my orders about not leaving the city until the investigation was over, and got into a problem with rogues, risking not only the council’s intel but mine too. You came here without a permit, almost causing a problem for the council and me because I was handling your case and then you got a Lycan into problem with you. So many crimes. How am I going to punish you?" Maverick asked me.
Now that he was mentioning all these things, honestly even I was pretty amazed that I was able to neglect so many rules at once.
’This is not something you should be proud of,’ Aurora reminded me and I grinned at her.
’Well, being sad isn’t taking us anywhere so...’ I trailed off before nodding at Alpha Maverick.
"You are right. I did all those things. How are you going to punish me, Alpha?" I asked, licking my bottom-chapped lip which immediately caught his attention.
He looked back into my eyes with a smile before he looked behind me.
"I will have to take her with me. We apologize for the trouble," Maverick said. Though he was apologizing, I was amazed at how powerful and dominating his aura was and how easily it shifted when he was talking to me and when he was talking to Asher.
Asher walked ahead and I turned my head to look at the Lycan who looked at me for a brief second before looking at Maverick.
"I am afraid we can’t allow that," Asher said.
"What do you mean?" Maverick tensed a little.
"Miss Valencia here was having a conversation with me before we were disturbed by the human gang attacks. I don’t have a habit of leaving important conversations in between," Asher said.
Maverick averted his gaze from the Lycan to me before raising his brows.
"Important conversation?" He asked, probably wanting to be a part of it too, but how could I tell him about it?
"It’s nothing worth your attention," I said before taking a deep breath and stepping back from Maverick. I should’ve done it long ago.
I saw the emotions in his eyes flickering for a second before it was gone as soon as it arrived.
"In that case, you will have to meet her when I or my men are there. I hope you understand how the law works," Maverick said and without waiting for anyone’s reply, he turned around to walk some distance as he pulled out his phone and called someone.
He wasn’t too far and I could clearly hear what he was saying.
"Yes, I found her. What was she doing? What do you think? Creating trouble as always. Yes, blood is there. Like an angry little bird," Maverick said on the phone.
Me - "..." What did he mean by that? Do I always go around creating trouble? I wondered but the look that Asher and Aurora threw at me made me realize, he was probably right.
