Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 145: Bird throwing a tantrum
Chapter 145: Bird throwing a tantrum
VALENCIA’S POV
Something was definitely wrong.
Even if they were able to know I was here because of my passport details that the council had because I was working for them, how were they able to find me in this place two hours away from the airport?
I can believe Dylan guessed everything right and knew I was here to meet the Lycans. The Lycan region was spread in an area that would take 3 hours to roam.
How come they found me so easily? I wondered as I followed Maverick, who was walking towards his car.
As I was busy in my thoughts, I suddenly saw a shadow in front of me, the shadow of a bird, and I remembered that there was one more thing that was very well capable of spotting me.
So Happy indeed betrayed me, huh?
I walked a little while glaring at the bird who looked at me a bit too innocently as it came down and sat on my shoulders, my gaze shifting to Asher who didn’t look like he was too surprised.
Shrugging my shoulders, I looked back at my bird, narrowing my eyes at him.
"Happy, you betrayer. You call me your lord and you betrayed me like this. How could you expose my location like this?" I asked him and he looked at me as if he got offended.
Seriously? A bird was now offended.
He flew some distance beside a tree and grabbed a small stick in his beak before writing something.
I walked to where he was when I saw Asher and Maverick talking among them about how to deal with the rogues and humans they killed, I mean the humans that I killed and the rogues that Maverick and his team killed.
I looked at what Happy was writing, and as soon as I did that, Aurora burst out laughing, making me seriously smack her head.
One of these days I am surely going to consult a witch to know more about how to beat your own wolf.
"Lord left me. No choice."
This was what Happy wrote, and I glared at the bird.
No choice? Wasn’t he a bit too human-like for someone to be called ancient?
"Well, I left you because I didn’t want you to travel so much. It was a 7-hour long flight. Would you have flown that long?" I asked him when in honesty, in my fit of anger, I had forgotten about him.
Happy looked at me for a few seconds before he stepped aside.
"Lord could’ve taken me. Humans take their pets all the time!" He wrote furiously in his messy writing and I glared at him again.
He was showing me the attitude!!
"I was coming back in a day. But you sold away your lord just like that? What for? For some sticky worms that Maverick offered you to eat?" I asked and Happy stepped back.
Disbelief was written all over his face as he widened his eyes at me.
’I think you’ve offended him for real,’ Aurora commented, and I pressed my lips into a thin line.
No shit Sherlock. Even I could see it.
But what was said was said. It wasn’t like I could take back my words. And I was furious too. Maverick said the Lycan can talk to me only in his or his men’s presence. How will I get my answers?
Lord mentioned something like a curse. How will I find out more about what this curse was? If there was a cure to this curse or something that would make my life easy?
I looked at the bird. I thought it would flow away but rather than that, he stood beside the tree, facing away from me as he placed its head on the tree’s trunk.
Seeing him suddenly getting sad, I sighed.
"Fine. I am sorry. I know a divine ancient creature like you doesn’t eat such pesky things. Come, we have to leave," I said to the bird, but when it didn’t move from its place, I groaned inwardly.
Seriously? I walked to it and bent to pick it up into my hands, but it walked a little away from me, walking awkwardly with its wings spread and I couldn’t help but chuckle.
He looked too funny while trying to run like that. He immediately stopped and glared at me again, making me press my lips into a thin line as I tried my best to not laugh at him.
But was it really so easy? I grinned before throwing myself ahead, catching the bird off guard.
I moaned in displeasure when my body hit the rough ground, but at least I got hold of the bird who struggled a little in my hold.
"Calm down. I am sorry, okay? I promise I will ask you about things before leaving next time. Don’t be angry anymore," I said, kissing his forehead, and after a few seconds, he started to calm down, making me roll my eyes inwardly.
Not only humans and wolves, but even birds also get angry and I have to coax them. Was anything really normal in my life for real?
"What are you doing?" I heard Maverick speak and turned to look at him, smiling awkwardly knowing how weird I must be looking, lying on the ground while hugging this bird in my hands and getting my clothes soiled.
"Umm, did you guys find any relation of any sort?" I asked to deviate from the topic.
Just like always, he didn’t answer my question immediately. Rather, he extended his hand for me to take.
I stood with Happy still sitting on my shoulders as he tried to stuff his head in the crook of my neck, making Maverick look at it again.
"So you have started to use my people against me now? You probably found I was here from Dylan and then you brought my bird here to locate me precisely," I said, noticing how Asher sat inside the car with Harold and left.
As soon as the sound of the car leaving arrived, Maverick didn’t waste a second in pulling me close.
He gazed into my eyes for a second before leaning forward.
"I am going to use everything I can to get to you, and I assure you, nothing can stop me from doing so," Maverick whispered before he placed his lips on mine, more like pressed his lips on mine, making me stumble back, but his hand around my waist stopped me from moving.
He didn’t move, nor did he move his lips. He just stood there with his lips pressed against mine as he breathed heavily, Happy long gone to give us some privacy that I am sure Maverick didn’t care about.
"Don’t you ever leave like that with me having no idea about what’s going on? It’s not a plea, Valencia. It’s a threat, a warning, whatever you want to consider it. The next time I find you, I won’t think twice about who you are with or what the reason was, you will be naked under me within five minutes while I punish you for your insolence," Maverick threatened me, his lips moving slightly as he talked.
I gulped, unsure if I was supposed to feel this excited as I was feeling right now.
This wasn’t sane at all.
"I had my reasons -" I started but he shushed me.
I thought he was going to kiss me, but rather than that, he stepped back and looked at me.
"A kiss won’t suffice and definitely not in a place like this. I guess it’s time we go back to the hotel to have some rest," Maverick said meaningfully.
A blush crept up my neck and I cleared my throat, following him nonetheless.
Why? Because he went too easy on me. I am sure someone was waiting for me who was definitely going to throw a tantrum and threaten me with more meaningful words.
