Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 143: Not a simple day anywhere?
Chapter 143: Not a simple day anywhere?
VALENCIA’S POV
"Stay back. I will handle them," Asher said.
I looked at him with raised brows as he stood in front of me like a protective shield.
Well, this feeling of being protected was good, but... It was definitely not something I enjoyed, not until it was my favorite man standing in front of me to protect me.
’You mean our Alpha Maverick?’ Aurora wriggled her brows at me, and I seriously doubted if a wolf was supposed to do this.
’You either help me or stop distracting me,’ I glared at her, making her pout.
’I was just saying. You don’t need to be so mean to me,’ She whispered and I rolled my eyes before humming, looking back at the Lycan.
I am sure he thought I was some weak ass who needed protection, but what he didn’t know was that I was a pro thief too.
I grinned at the Lycan who widened his eyes at me.
"I am sure you would’ve done the same if you were in my position," I said to him with a smile.
Shot! Shot! Shot!
I shot the three men who were standing in front, straight in the chest before I used my werewolf speed and hit the remaining ones with the daggers I always carry with myself.
I wasn’t letting them live.
Aurora already sensed the dark energy around them, and I was sure they didn’t hold any good things in their life resume to beg for mercy.
I wiped the blood from the dagger before looking at the Lycan who was looking directly at me.
It was hard. I swear I was trying but it was hard.
I needed some kind of distraction from the fact that my gaze was being drawn to this blood repeatedly. Licking this blood because that was exactly what my instincts were telling me was the last thing I could do right now.
Mentally shaking my head at myself and scolding myself to stay in the character, I sighed before averting my gaze back to Asher.
His gaze was curious and held questions and I am sure he was surprised as to why I wasn’t acting like the weak pitiful omega I was pretending to be in the cafe. I guess I could only counter it with being scared and survival instincts kicking in.
Call it my wariness or untrustworthy of this Lycan, but I was definitely not going to put my life at the mercy of someone who was suspicious of me and was threatening me earlier.
"Well..." I started and was about to say more when I observed the gun in my hand.
It wasn’t just any normal gun. To say I was surprised would be an understatement.
Shifting my gaze back at the Lycan, who looked like he knew I understood everything already, I cleared my throat.
"A cop?" I asked and he walked to me before literally snatching the gun from my hand and wiping it from his handkerchief to remove my handprints probably.
He held the gun before shaking his head.
"Helps with hiding some of our adventures," He said, his gaze not meeting my eyes.
And why not?
Even if I wasn’t well versed with the human and werewolf laws, I am sure I knew well enough that the supernatural wasn’t allowed to participate in any armed services that involved humans because healing our wounds and other powers can expose us to the world.
Even if they were high super beings, it didn’t mean they didn’t need to follow these rules. Besides, it wasn’t just a matter of werewolves. It concerned the entire supernatural world.
A smirk appeared on my face, looking at the Lycan.
"So I guess I am not the only one breaking rules here," I smiled while he looked at me annoyed.
"Let’s leave. I don’t want to explain this to others," Asher said and I pretended to be shocked.
"The others don’t know about it?" I asked.
He rolled his eyes at me.
"I don’t want them to know that I let a girl kill eight people under my watch," He said and I smiled.
We were about to leave the alley when out of nowhere, I felt someone pressing their blade into my neck.
The sharp object dug into my skin and I froze for a second.
What was this? How could it be possible that we didn’t sense this person’s presence?
I could understand that I was being lenient and incapable because I am not even a complete wolf, but there was a Lycan with me for god’s sake.
"If you move, I will kill this girl," The man said and I shook my head at Asher.
’He is not human. You weren’t entirely wrong. Some rogue wolves indeed move around despite knowing they are in Lycan territory. But the main question is...now that this man is standing so close to us, I think I have smelt this scent before,’ Aurora said and I raised my brows.
What did she mean by this statement? How could she have smelt this scent before?
Don’t tell me the rogues from back near the Dark Callisto pack have arrived here following me.
I clenched my fists.
"What do you want from me?" I asked.
I could practically feel the man smirk as he placed his lips on my neck, making me clench my teeth.
I looked into the Asher’s eyes and the way his eyes were moving behind me, I was sure this man wasn’t alone.
Just like I had guessed, I could feel around 10 more scents, all having the same after-burning scent of rogues, wafting through my nostrils.
’Seems like you can’t have a normal day no matter where you go,’ Aurora commented and I couldn’t help but smile at her.
Well, thanks for telling me the obvious, Miss Aurora, I wanted to say but bite back my tongue as the dagger dug deeper into my skin.
The familiar scent of that metallic liquid made me realize that I was starting to bleed and I sighed.
The smell of blood was already thick in the air, making things hard for me, but now these rogues have to come out of nowhere and ruin it all.
If they kept drawing my blood like this, the psychotic bitch inside me would snap and do something that would land me in the kind of problem that would be hard to come out of.
With a deep breath, I looked around, trying to find anything I could use to save myself.
Asher moved his feet as if taking his position to fight and save me, but the rogue holding me scoffed.
"If I were you, I wouldn’t make that mistake, Lycan Asher. I know you guys have speed and move and powers above us, but it will take me a millisecond to move this dagger across her throat and gift her soul back to the moon goddess," The rogues threatened Asher.
Seeing him pausing and not taking action, I looked at him, a little disappointed.
"What are you doing? Don’t think about me. Attack them," I said.
"Shut your mouth, bitch. You have been quite a nuisance, haven’t you been? Every time our boss sends someone to get you, you kill them all. That was the reason I have been following you for quite some time. I was waiting for you to come out of the pack zone and look, we finally got you," The rogue said.
I scoffed at him.
This was plain stupidity, but I couldn’t control it anymore.
"You got me by playing tricks. What are you flexing for? That around 10 rogues be deployed to catch a simple college girl? I didn’t know I was that tough," I said, hoping he would get angry and throw me away in anger which would be the right time to react.
"Shut your mouth or I won’t think twice before plunging this dagger straight into your neck," The rogue said.
I shook my head at him.
"We both know that’s a lie. Your boss wants to meet and see me. There is no way you are going to kill me," I said.
He was probably nodding his head from how his body moved behind me.
"You guessed it right. I am not going to kill you, but I can do something that would be worse than that," The rogue said before he shifted his other hand close to my top and I froze in my place for a brief second.
Something snapped inside me. I don’t care if I was going to die, but I wasn’t going to let anyone take away my self-respect and dignity just like that.
Without thinking twice, I grabbed his hand and was about to throw him when I heard the swoosh sound and the rogue’s body suddenly turned heavy on me.
I looked into the sky, my pupils dilating when I saw that one thing I didn’t expect to see.
Happy? I smiled.
"Even I would like to see who touches her on my watch," The voice followed and I froze.
The sounds of people moving behind me were loud, but they felt like fading away as I turned around to face the man, who looked into my eyes.
"Happy, you betrayed me!" I said to the bird, who looked back at me as if saying I deserved that.
