Chapter 130: Her call

THIRD PERSON’S POV

"Welcome to the occasion, sir," The current beta of the pack Joseph Brooklyn said as soon as Alpha Maverick’s entered the pack and stopped in front of the pack house.

Alpha Maverick looked at the man, his eyes dark and unpredictable before he nodded his head.

He looked around the place that was just so-so average. The place was green, no doubt but it still didn’t compare to the advancement in his pack or the packs of the top 5 alphas he had seen.

"This way, sir," Joseph said, already sweating as he was faced with the monster of the werewolf world, and his stiff neutral expression wasn’t helping much.

If looks could kill, the entire pack would’ve been 6 feet under the ground judging from how he was looking at everyone.

"Hmm," Maverick said before he looked behind him.

Unlike earlier, he only brought two of his most trusted men with him since he didn’t want to attract unnecessary attention.

Every alpha was usually expected to bring his beta and Gamma with him, but Maverick didn’t think this event was that important for everyone to leave their work and join it. That was the reason he left Shadow and Greta behind to handle work when he was absent.

As Maverick looked in front of himself again, he couldn’t help but feel something was off. It was just his alpha senses going into alert mode, but he could feel something terrible around him.

"You guys keep a lookout for everyone around. I don’t want any mishap like the last time," Alpha Maverick used his mind link to contact his men.

The two guards immediately nodded, knowing all too well what their boss was referring to.

Last time at a similar event the rogues had colluded with the people from the pack and the event has gone pretty horrible with many people getting injured. Unluckily, two alphas had died too because of the explosions.

He wasn’t interested in such events and that was why he hadn’t gone to that event, luckily saving himself from a hell lot of trouble.

Without delaying a second, Alpha Maverick followed the beta of the pack to the inside of the venue where most of the alphas were already talking to each other, most of them throwing fake smiles at each other, something that wasn’t hard for him to see through.

"Everyone, Alpha Maverick," The beta of the pack said and everyone’s attention immediately snapped to the man who walked inside, his aura speaking louder about his power and dominance in the nation and the room.

Everyone nodded at him in respect, making Maverick nod back.

Alpha Tyler, who was talking to his men about something related to security measures, immediately snapped his attention to the man.

He didn’t waste a single second and walked to the alpha.

"Alpha Maverick, thank you for gracing our pack with your presence," Tyler said Alpha Maverick was about to reply to him when his phone vibrated and he looked at the number, his body freezing in its place.

Almost everyone who was observing him saw the shift in his energy from nonchalance to anxiety.

Just who was the person on the phone who was capable of turning the most dangerous person into a worrying fit? Everyone wondered at the same time as they saw the man walk to the side to have some privacy while he picked up the call.

"Mitsuki," he said, not wanting to use her real name just in case her identity goes into some kind of crisis because of that and the girl on the other side sighed.

"Are you busy?" Valencia asked as she was walking out of her apartment with her bike keys, ready to do that one job Carl asked her to do.

She didn’t want to do it at all, but since it was a royal order, she wasn’t left with any choice and got ready for it.

"Not for you," Maverick said and Valencia paused in her steps, a blush appearing on her cheeks.

"Has anyone ever told you how annoying you are?" She asked, the amusement clear in her eyes and Maverick suppressed the urge to smile at her words.

"No one ever dared. Be my guest to be the first one," He said, keeping his words limited.

"You... Anyway, I haven’t called you to talk about this stuff. I, actually, think I would like to take up on that offer of training. Will you be able to help me? I don’t think I can train for a combat battle without practicing with real people and I can’t exactly test my moves on humans despite their strength. It’s illegal," Valencia said.

Maverick walked out of the venue and moved to the forest at some distance to be able to talk to her.

When he saw his guards following her, he asked them to stop at some distance so he could have some privacy.

"When do you want to start?" He asked, imagining all the scenarios in his head that he would be able to use to annoy her, to take advantage of the situation, and to get close to her.

Even the thought of it made him excited and he took a deep breath, wanting to calm his heart that was beating a little faster in happiness.

"As soon as you return from that engagement. Has it already started?" Valencia asked, her tone turning a bit stiff that Maverick, who was lost in his happiness couldn’t identify as she masked her emotions quickly.

"The lady had arrived only a few seconds ago while I moved out to talk to you. I think it will take place in a few minutes. Do you want to see it? I can actually do a video call for you," he said without thinking twice.

Valencia couldn’t help but shake her head at his suggestion.

"I think I am good. We don’t need to shake up your strong and unbothered image, do we?" She asked and he was about to nod when he heard a scream, making his head turn to the side.

"What’s wrong?" Valencia asked, immediately alert.

"I will call you soon," Maverick said as he watched the scene in front of him in surprise.

What the hell was this?
