VALENCIA’S POV

’Val, are you sure about this?’ Aurora asked me before she furrowed her brows.

’Why does it feel like I am asking you this question more than half of the time?’ She asked me, and I shrugged.

How would I know why she keeps on asking me if I am sure about something or not when she knows if I am here, I am definitely doing it?

I hid behind the tree, bending down into the bush as I looked at the Alpha pack, wanting to see what he was up to tonight.

’You are not really curious about him. We clearly heard that he and his team aren’t going to be in the pack tonight. They are looking for some kind of evidence for some kind of act,’ Aurora said, her words making me feel caught already.

Well, she really had me here. It was true.

The reason I was here was because I knew Maverick wasn’t going to be here.

However, I wasn’t here to hear them talk. I need to go to the alpha’s cabin to spy on what his plans for the future are.

Was he really thinking about taking over the throne or something after the death of the main royal family?

I was about to move when I heard the soldiers talk.

"I understand what you are talking about. It was truly horrific. That’s what I am talking about. Guess, why isn’t our alpha in the pack tonight? Our team has found the link to the place and they have gone there to give those rogues a fitting reply."

It was clear that they were talking about some kind of horrifying incident that occurred in the Dark Callisto pack.

As far as I know, the council wasn’t informed about it or Carl would’ve definitely mentioned it to me since he knew I would be moving forward with my mission of collecting information on him.

"What fitting reply could be thought about the heinous crime they committed? It was dead but they deserve a death worse than anything. That little four-year-old girl was molested until her intestines fell out, her jaws broken, limbs twisted, and -"

The guard said, and I froze in my place.

What did he say those rogues did to that little girl?

’Rrrrrr!’ Aurora growled inside me as her protective instinct grew, and I widened my eyes when that growl actually left my mouth.

I knew she was angry, heck, even I was, but how could she forget that we were actually hiding here?

I quickly got up from my place and ran out of the pack.

It was a good thing I hadn’t entered much deeper and was lurking near the borders only.

’Aurora, you fool!’ I growled as I turned around and saw around 10 pack soldiers running in my direction.

Left with no choice, I transformed into my cat form and ran as far as I could to save my ass.

’I am sorry,’ Aurora apologized, not meeting my gaze.

She wasn’t sorry at all. It was clear from her body language, and I sighed.

I know what she was feeling at the moment.

It was a feeling of Deja Vu hitting her that really got to her.

I still regret that day.

’Let’s go,’ Aurora said, and I raised my brows.

’Go where?’ I asked her.

I kind of had an idea of what she was talking about, but I didn’t want to believe it. She can’t be serious.

Didn’t she hear the guards? Alpha Maverick and his team were already there and handling the case.

What did she want me to do? Go there and get caught?

’I want you to correct what you couldn’t all this time,’ She said and I gulped.

Though I was a risk lover myself, for some reason, I did not feel like this was a good decision.

If even one rogue recognized me, things would be tough to handle, especially when I am now working for the royals too.

’Are you sure about it? It’s like so far and even if we leave with the bike, it will take us one hour. Also, didn’t you say I should be holding back on adventure and -’

’Are you going to do it or not? Don’t tell me you are going to act like a coward,’ Aurora said and I took a deep breath.

She knows very well where to hit me to get a reaction out of me for sure.

I closed my eyes as I saw all the soldiers looking around for me before they discussed among themselves and left one by one, not before looking back one last time.

I jumped down from the tree I was hiding at before evening my hair, I mean my fur.

’Are you leaving?’ Aurora asked, and I smiled bitterly.

’No, shit Sherlock. Just remember if something happens to us after that, it’s all on you,’ I said to her and she nodded her head as if she would really be able to handle everything without even changing.

I swear she finds all the ways to get me into trouble.
