Chapter 106: Shamelessly smitten

ALPHA MAVERICK’S POV

You’re all I am going to ever need. You don’t understand how much you have started to mean to me. That I care for you and desire you every possible second of my life. That you are amazing and I crave your presence.

I wanted to say all these words to her but held back as she looked at me with wide eyes just because I mentioned living together.

It was a quick cover-up. Earlier I had indeed wanted to say something like for her to live with me outside my pack if inside the pack made her uncomfortable. It wasn’t like she was a rogue that I couldn’t invite in my pack.

But when I saw the look of pure shock in her eyes, I knew I had to cover up things.

And then there was this smell on her. She might think that I didn’t notice. But the way she pushed me back as if she was covering up for something got me intrigued for real.

Why? Because after interacting with those alphas, I knew I had smelt this scent before too, and it definitely belonged to an alpha.

I was just unsure exactly who it was. The scent of blood was also thick in the air. She was naive enough to think that an Alpha as strong as me who leads the most dangerous pack wouldn’t notice little changes in her from the moment she left the room.

The little sprinkles like blood drops on her clothes were something that even she probably didn’t notice because her clothes were dirty because of Angela’s blood already.

What surprised me was the fact that it wasn’t her blood or Angela’s blood. It was the alpha’s blood.

For a girl who is related to the council to hurt an Alpha and that alpha not creating any ruckus was surely worth suspecting.

And this wasn’t the only thing.

How can I forget how she had entered her home, looking all tired and wretched on the day Alpha Samuel was attacked because he kidnapped a pregnant rogue woman?

There were just so many theories around her that were worth sending her to the dungeons and locking her in, not letting her out until all the truth about her was uncovered.

But then what can I really do when my heart has been knocked down by her charms and I can’t find anything wrong in her anymore?

She can walk in front of me soaked in blood of all the strongest alphas and I would still back her up. I might not want to put my pack in danger’s way because they are my people, but I can’t say anything about my life anymore.

I looked into the eyes of the little ifrit who had possessed my heart like some demon she was and couldn’t help but shake my head.

I swear she has some kind of voodoo powers.

"Are you not going to leave me?" She asked me, and I looked into her eyes intensely before leaning forward and kissing her jaws.

"I am never going to leave you, my little devil," I whispered to her, the flicker of emotions in her eyes making me smile inwardly.

This is exactly what I talk about when I say she had the most expressive eyes I have ever seen, and I want all those expressions for me only.

Never have I ever wanted anything like I want her. And it’s the fact that she doesn’t support this that makes me go even more crazy for her.

"Alpha Maverick, I feel you speak words without thinking twice these days. Are you sure it’s okay for the strongest and most dangerous alpha to act like this? I never commented on this earlier because I always thought you were a mere beta, but I must say, you have no control over your mouth and it’s not a good trait for an alpha," Valencia said to me.

I smiled at her.

Oh, girl, you have no idea what exactly are the words that I want to say to you. If I really start saying what goes inside my head, either you will push me away or get infatuated with me completely, and it wasn’t a risk I was ready to take yet, not until I have you smitten with my charms.

’Tell her we want her pinned under us on that bed without any piece of cloth between us while we caress every inch of her body, worship her like the goddess she is,’ Reaper said.

I felt my ears turning red at the kind of image he was putting inside my head.

I squirmed in my place a bit, not wanting her to see the erection that I was already having.

She already saw it a couple of times and I don’t think I would be able to dodge and control it all the time. At the end of the day, she might end up thinking I am some kind of pervert who just wants her for her body.

And though half of it is true that I indeed want her and lust over her, it wasn’t the entire truth.

"I say what I think because I don’t think there is a person in this world who can hold it against me and stay alive," I said, calculating my words carefully and she smiled.

Her smile turned to a smirk, and I knew I was in for a fitting reply. She always smirks right after saying something snarky.

"What about me? Don’t I have that authority over you, Alpha Maverick?" She asked, stepping close to me, looking me straight in the eyes and I knew I was gone.

My throat immediately felt dry as I felt mesmerized by her grayish-blue eyes which captivated me for the umpteenth time.

Don’t do it. Maverick. You know how bad this can get. If you say yes once, there is no going back. She will get her way around you every single time by using the same method. You can’t give in like this. Be a man and say no. Or at least just don’t agree with her.

My mind told me all the plausible reasons why I shouldn’t say yes to her and how it was going to go against me in the long run.

However, one sentence from my heart and I knew there was not a single reason that my mind could give me anymore to pacify me.

’You have started to fall for her. She is your woman,’ My heart said, and I took a deep breath.

"You do," I said, shaking my head at my stupidity.

I had never thought there would be a say when I would openly say yes to such words for anyone. Heck, this was what made me so confused.

I was an alpha male, not bowing in front of anyone even when my mate was around. Then what is so special about this girl that I can’t say no to her ever? Why does all my alpha male attitude fly out of the window the moment she looks into my eyes?

My heart melted while my wolf just smiled at me.

’I know you have a lot to say and laugh about. You can do it. I am not going to say anything,’ I said to Reaper, who smiled at me before sighing and just looking at nothing in particular.

’Why would I give you a hard time and laugh at you when this is exactly what I have done for my woman too? You still went a little easy. If it had been me, I wouldn’t have even hesitated if she had asked me to get on my knees and beg her,’ Reaper said, his words strangely comforting me.

That I wasn’t doing anything shameless.

I raised my gaze to look at the woman who was the cause of it, but to my surprise, along with her smile, I could see a scarlet blush rising to her cheeks and my smile widened when I realized my affirmation probably made her more shy than I was.

She was such a cute sweetheart. Huh...what am I going to do with my heart?

I was about to ask her if there was anything else that she wanted to ask me to know how much she meant to me.

However, before I could say anything, I received a mind-link tap from Shadow, making me immediately open the link for him.

"What is it?" I asked.

"You were right, Alpha. There was indeed an alpha who got hurt in the hospital. The hospital staff who treated him didn’t know his name, but they said he had one wound on his bicep and another sound on his side. The bicep wound even had wolfsbane. Surprisingly when they asked him if he wanted this incident to be reported to you, he denied it," Shadow reported, and I looked back at the woman in my arms, a smirk spreading on my lips.

So another alpha was smitten enough by my woman to not complain even when she stabbed him with a knife?

Doesn’t it call for the destruction of that alpha?

Only one King can have this queen. And that king was definitely going to be me. I smiled at Valencia before tucking her hair behind her ears.
