Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse
Chapter 408: Where Are You Going?

Chapter 408: Where Are You Going?

I didn’t have much trust or faith in humans in general. Of course, there were always the exceptions, but this seemed a little too... stupid... for even them. A human run human farm for creatures that we have all just agreed were no longer an issue?

"Any human caught by these rebels is collared and forced to join the farms," continued the guard as he opened the door to the last room on the floor. "We were lucky that they failed in their attempt to get the people in the Sanctuary, but they keep trying. You really can’t be too careful nowadays."

Tank furrowed his brows but nodded his head. "I guess the outside isn’t nearly as safe as I thought it was. We are lucky that we have made it this long."

"You really are," agreed the guard as he walked over to the metal lockers against one wall. There really wasn’t much in the room. A locker and a bed, and that was it. Pulling out a set of sheets, he handed them to Tank. "I hear that they are even looking for little girls," he continued, his eyes drifting over to me. "They can produce a lot of children in the shortest period of time with the least health concerns. Keep your sister close at all times. If you see someone even remotely suspicious, report them to the first security guard you see. ’A safer tomorrow starts with you’."

After saying his peace, the guard quickly left, locking the door behind him.

"Don’t drink the Kool-Aid," grunted Tank, looking down at me. Gently, he stroked my hair as if trying to offer me some level of comfort. "I will keep you safe."

"Please, big brother," I smirked at him. "Even if there were human farms, do you really think anyone is dumb enough to try and kidnap me? They’d be begging you to come pick me up in a matter of minutes."

Tank hummed and smiled at me. "You would cause a Saint to lose his mind," he sighed before going over and making the bed.

"It’s a good thing that you aren’t a Saint, now isn’t it?"

"The man who stopped you, what did he look like?" asked Réne as he studied Alex. They needed to get the food and supplies back; there was no other choice in the matter. Alicia wouldn’t be at ease until she had at least a year’s supply of food at any given time, and the greenhouses and farms weren’t up to that amount of demand.

"Black hair, green eyes, neatly trimmed beard," stated Alex, his eyes glazing over as he tried to picture the man. However, no matter how many times he tried, no matter how hard he tried, the image wasn’t clear. "My height, slim, unimposing."

Alicia and Réne let out a sigh of relief. At first, it sounded a lot like Bishop, but there was no way he was the same height as Alex, let alone slim and unimposing.

"Oh," exclaimed Alex. "He also had a little girl with him. She appeared later, but the two of them seemed to know each other."

"Could one of them be a space user?" wondered Alicia out loud. She had killed almost every other space user that she had come into contact with, but that didn’t mean there weren’t more outside the Sanctuary.

With the rumors that she was purposefully cultivating, she knew that people were too terrified to stay outside. Whoever had taken the supplies would eventually walk into her Sanctuary. When the space user was dead, everything in their space would be released, and Alicia could get her supplies back.

After all, what she had claimed could never belong to someone else.

"The girl did mention our supplies... like she knew a secret that we didn’t," muttered Alex as he tried to run through the conversation again. Like trying to picture the man, his voice and anything he had said slipped through his fingers, but the girl... the girl he remembered clear as day.

"I thought space users had to be able to touch what they wanted to bring into the space. Even the most powerful ones were rumored to be able to take anything that they could see. The supplies were completely hidden in the jeeps. How would she be able to take them?" whispered one of the soldiers to the man standing next to him. "She would have to be the most powerful space user in existence."

Alex, overhearing the comments, shook his head. "She was just a child. There is no way she had that much ability."

"Unless the man is Luca LeBlanc," said Alicia, her eyes going wide. Of course! How could she have forgotten about those five? In her past life, Luca didn’t have to see supplies before taking them. He just had to think about what he wanted, and it simply disappeared. The man Alex remembered was probably Luca.

Réne turned to look at Alicia, his face turning pale. "I thought they were dead. We haven’t heard anything about them for years. Besides, Luca is too upright to steal supplies. It would be too far beneath him."

Alicia frowned, frustrated that Réne wasn’t seeing the bigger picture here. If it was Luca, and they managed to find him... then maybe they could use him. He was military trained, had an unlimited space, and could be sent out on missions.

"You said that there was only one male?" pressed Alicia, her brain going in a hundred directions at once, trying to figure out the perfect plan.

"Yes," nodded Alex. "He was completely alone until the girl came."

"What are you thinking?" asked Réne as he studied Alicia. "We haven’t spoken to Luca in years. Not to mention the way we parted after that fight, there is no way he would be willing to work with us."

Alicia scoffed at that. Who said anything about willing or not? As long as he fell in line, then that was all she needed.

Looking back at Alex, she let out a long breath and relaxed her features. "Those supplies might be gone, but the rest of the ones in the house are still there. We’ll head out tomorrow to grab them. With them in my space, no one would be able to take them from us again."

Alex nodded his head, and his team was quickly dismissed.

"Where are you going?" asked Réne, grabbing Alicia’s upper arm as she tried to bypass him and leave the bay.

"To talk to Adam, of course."
