Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse
Chapter 361: What’s The Plan?

Chapter 361: What’s The Plan?

It wasn’t until that moment that I realized that everything I had built up about Sadie was all in my head. She hadn’t offered her friendship; she simply treated me like everyone else around her. The whole hot chocolate and marshmallows were something she had probably given to everyone else.

Cocking my head to the side, I watched her trying to save the man who couldn’t be saved as she continued to demand that Ronan come to the rescue. But was I really going to stay here for the rest of my life? Getting these humans out of whatever trouble they had found themselves in?

If I hadn’t been there, they would have drowned in the apartment. Wait, that isn’t true. The flood was a result of Sadie’s wish for heat. Instead, it would be more accurate to say that they would have either frozen to death or starved to death.

Either way, they would have long been dead.

And yet, here they were, treating us like tools for them to use in order to ensure their own survival. How could I have forgotten that humans were like that? So far, only Elizabeth hasn’t disappointed me yet.

"No," I shrugged, forcing her attention to me. "If you want him to live, do it yourself."

There was an echo of gasps around us even as the water under this ship started to churn in excitement. "You can’t just walk away," sneered one of the survivors. He was probably the most well-off of the humans on the deck. There wasn’t a single injury on him.

I wonder where he hid to ensure his safety like that.

"Watch me," I sighed, rolling my eyes. I could feel the eyes of hundreds, if not thousands, of creatures on us at this very moment. The fact that the humans didn’t seem to be able to almost amused me.

"Fine," replied Sadie with a sigh. "You can do what you want; however, I still think it would be smarter to stick together as a group; there is strength in numbers, after all. Ronan, if you aren’t available, Salvatore will do just as well. I just need some mutant here with healing powers."

"I mean, you could always make a wish," smirked Colt, dragging his eyes away from the jungle and back to me. "You have to grant wishes, right? That’s your thing?"

"It is," I agreed with a nod of my head. It wasn’t like what he thought, though. I wasn’t obligated to grant any wishes. I wasn’t a genie bound to a master; I was the mother fucking devil. But power was power, and a few souls here and there was always a good thing.

"Then I wish that everyone will be healed," sputtered Sadie, now up to her elbows in blood. "I want everyone who came here with us to be alive and well."

Nodding my head, I smiled at the woman. "Whatever you want," I agreed. I used to walk people through wishes, pointing out where the magic would go wrong, but I was done with that. If she wanted her people alive and well, then that’s what I’ll give her.

Closing my eyes, I took in a deep breath.

In Country M, the gate between Earth and Hell had opened, subjected everyone to demon seeds. Well, demons were alive, and they could keep their host alive for a long period of time. Of course, there were limitations, but for the most part, they could experience eternal life.

Focusing my energy on my core, I thought about the seeds, I thought about what I wanted to do with them. While normally, I wouldn’t put this much effort into a wish, I was feeling a bit petty at the moment.

Knowing that no one other than me and mine would be able to see them, I conjured 26 demon seeds onto my palm and blew them forward. It only took a second for them to take hold of their new hosts and bury deep into their hearts.

Unlike those in Country M, there was no downtime. Instead of letting the human adjust slowly to their new reality, these demon seeds completely took over their hearts, changing the humans for all time.

Ah, this new world was going to be a lot of fun.

"Thank you," breathed Sadie as she watched the man in front of her ’miraculously’ heal from the gaping wound. Even the splinter seemed to have been absorbed into him. Would you look at that? A gluttony demon with an affinity for Earth. Today was just getting better and better.

It felt good to create something. I should do it more often.

"Don’t thank me," I replied with a bright smile on my face. "It was your wish, after all. If people want to thank anyone, it should be you."

The temperature around us continued to climb, but I was still feeling right at home in the heat. Don’t get me wrong, the heat and humidity left me more than a little cranky, but it still wasn’t any hotter than hell, so I could still work with it.

The once humans would have been dead in under an hour, but thanks to their hearts now being completely consumed by the demon seeds, they, too, were a lot more adaptable to the climate.

Walking over to the shattered railing, I looked out into the distance and the jungle that awaited us. I wasn’t a big gardener, but the plants were bigger than I ever thought possible. Even the smallest of shrubs could easily be made out from this distance.

"What’s the plan?" asked Dante softly from where he stood beside me.

"What else?" I replied, my voice just as soft as I felt an invisible pair of eyes staring at me from the foliage. "I think I am going to plant a garden of my own. Let my own seeds grow and see how things turn out."

Dante remained silent as Beau came up behind me and kissed me on my shoulder. "What should we do about the others?"

"Nothing," I sighed, closing my eyes as I melted into his embrace. It was weird, feeling him around me like this. I realized that while he had always been by my side, I had missed him. "Whether they live or die will be on them from now on."

"How are we going to get off the ship and onto the land?" asked one of the female survivors as she came up the stairs below and onto the deck. "The belly has started to flood."

"How else?" smirked Colt, turning his attention to me. "We make a wish."
