Chapter 232: The War Room

The second the humans left the house, it was like I could breathe again. While, at first, the idea of being trapped in a single place for a long period of time was enough to set me off, now it was all I wanted to do.

I had everything at my fingertips; why would I be stupid enough to leave it? No, I’d stay here for a while longer, and when I got bored, I would just see where some of the doors led. The universe was literally on my front porch... oh the games I could play.

"You seem a lot more relaxed," smiled Ronan as he strolled into the living room where Chang Xuefeng and I were watching television. Even at the end of the world, there was nothing to watch and no way for us to agree on a movie.

"I am," I replied, returning his smile with one of my own.

"Relaxed enough for a nap?" he asked, his voice dropping just enough to cause tingles to go straight to my pussy.

"You just woke up," sneered Chang Xuefeng, not bothering to turn his head to even look at the demon. "You can’t seriously be tired again."

"Sloth demon," Ronan replied with a yawn as he pointed at his chest. "Napping and sleeping is what I do best."

"Aren’t those two the same thing?" I asked, more than a little confused.

"Of course not," gasped Ronan, more than a little offended. My issue was that I couldn’t tell if he was faking it or not. "Those are two completely different things."

Nodding my head as if I completely understood him, Ronan collapsed on the couch and put his head on my lap. "A nap is anything amount of time under five hours, and it is not as deep of a sleep as pure sleep. To sleep is a minimum of eight hours but under twenty. That one, it is impossible to wake up from, and normally, I require a cuddle buddy for it."

"A cuddle buddy?" I repeated, my inner demon turning ever so slowly to look at Ronan. "Do you have a lot of cuddle buddies?"

Ronan’s eyes shot open as he looked up at me absolutely terrified. "Nope," he replied vehemently as he shook his head back and forth. "There has been no cuddle buddies until you. But now that I have spent an entire night with you in my arms, I will never be able to sleep without you again. You are my cuddle buddy, and only you."

"As long as you remember that," I smiled at him.

"I’ll remember, my Queen! I’ll definitely remember!"

Réne looked at the men and women sitting at the table in front of him.

The war room was just that, a war room. Maps were posted all over the place. as well as hand drawings of the office building that Bishop called the Dragon’s Lair. Honestly, it didn’t seem to be that hard of a place to infiltrate, but there were too many cooks in the kitchen.

Bishop and Sophia were sitting down at the far end, her eyes wide as if she had never seen such organized chaos before in her life. And, in her defense, she probably hadn’t.

Adam and Eve were seated on his right-hand side, with Adam directly beside him and Eve on his other side. To his left were a bunch of other commanders and military leaders who had found their way to him in the past few months.

At the far end of the table sat Alicia, a proud look on her face as she stared him down. She had seen this coming, she insisted. She had seen him taking his place as the head of Country M, and this was his correct path.

"We are just talking in circles at this point," announced Eve as she rose to her feet. Putting her finger on one of the ’x’s on the map, she looked up at everyone. "Our main concern is the food supplies. Without them, we are all on borrowed time. This is where they are, according to Bishop, and that is where we hit first."

Adam clearly wanted to disagree but wisely bit his tongue as he looked at his wife. "Fine. But we all know that they aren’t just going to hand them over to us. We need to be prepared for war. I say we hit the armory first and then go after the food. We have a few hundred men and women; they have five. They don’t stand a chance as long as we get to the weapons first."

Eve sighed and studied the map again. "The storage facility for the guns is at the other end of the compound. It would take us too much time to hit one first and then go to the next. I think we need to prioritize. We take their food, and they will have to bow down to us or risk starving."

"Dante might choose to starve first before he gives up any territory," announced Bishop. "Remember, he is used to people coming and trying to take what is his. He doesn’t mind getting his hands bloody, and Tank is no different. Those two men can take out at least 50 civilians on their own."

"But by your own admission, Dante isn’t the one we need to worry about," replied Eve. "You said that he is taking orders from a child, and no child will go without food for any length of time. We hit them where it hurts her, and if she is the one in control, they will have no choice but to make her happy."

Over in the corner, Max closed his eyes and turned off his brain. The twenty or so people in this room could argue all they wanted, but that didn’t mean shit if they refused to make a decision.

"Enough!" called out Réne, bringing everyone’s attention back to himself. "We leave here at dawn. Alert your men and make sure they get a good night’s sleep."

"Which location are we going after first?" asked Adam, cocking his head to the side. It was clear that he hated taking orders from anyone, even the leader of the base he was currently staying in.

"Both."
