Chapter 194: Saying No To Hattie

Ever so slowly, Beau turned his head toward me. "Excuse me, Suga’ Bear, you can do what now?"

"I might be able to transport us straight to the Dragon’s Lair," I repeated. "But that is only a maybe and not a definite yes. I could just as easily transport us into the middle of the bayou or the Arctic. I haven’t actually tried it yet."

Beau and Dante exchanged a look before they both shrugged their shoulders. "I’m game if you are," they said, holding out their hands to touch me. "Anything to stop the walking," sighed Beau. "I don’t want to walk anymore."

"Baby," I sneered at him with a smile on my face. Walking over to the gator, I narrowed my eyes. "Okay. I am going to transport us so we don’t have to do so much walking. But that means I need to touch you. No biting off my head, or I am going to be very cranky and walk away with a new purse. Do you understand me?"

If I were a betting woman, I would have sworn that the gator rolled his eyes before nodding his head. However, I was willing to overlook the clear attitude coming from the reptile just this once. He really was more than adorable.

Reaching forward, my arms outstretched, I waited for the gator to crawl up into my embrace. "Ooph," I grunted, leaning back to accommodate his size. I knew the frigger was big, but his stomach didn’t even clear my height, and his head was way above mine.

Feeling awkward, I waddled back and forth to where my four men were standing with a huff. "I’m going to have to put you on a diet," I grunted, feeling a sharp pain in my lower back. In response, the gator snapped his massive jaws over top of my head. "I don’t care what you say! You are huge!"

The gator seemed to vibrate and I had the weirdest sensation that he was laughing at me.

Stupid gator.

"If you aren’t nicer to me, I am going to call you ’Bitey McBiteface," I grumbled under my breath. "But I kind of like Tink or Buttons better. What about Mittens? I can even get you some mittens when it gets cold, so you don’t have to worry about it."

-----

"Sweetness," sighed Chang Xuefeng, pinching away the pain in his head as he watched the love of his life struggle to carry something that could swallow her in a single bite. "What are you doing?"

"Tink is coming with us," she shrugged like it wasn’t that big of a deal. "I’m going to build a moat, and he will live in it, and I’ll feed him every day! I’ll even take him for walks and clean up after the dead bodies he eats! Please, Daddy? I’ll take good care of him! I promise!"

The way Hattie’s eyes turned big as she looked at him broke his heart, and Chang Xuefeng couldn’t tell her no. What made matters worse was the image in his head of their daughter looking at him like that, wanting her own alligator added to the moat.

Fuck, he was so screwed.

Looking over at Pride, Chang Xuefeng raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to step in. Pride nodded his head in agreement. "Mon Ange," started Pride, his face completely serious, however, the second Hattie had shifted to look at him, all of Pride’s arguments flew right out his head. "If that is what you want, then, of course, we’ll find a place for him."

Chang Xuefeng’s jaw dropped as he turned to Tank. Certainly, the Hound wouldn’t accept a creature like this in their home. When the Angel of Death looked inside of the alligator, he couldn’t find any soul. There was nothing living in that thing in Hattie’s arms, and there was no way for it to die.

While the zombies didn’t have a soul, there was still a tiny thread of life for the Reaper to reap, but this creature? There was nothing.

Neither completely living or dead... he really had no idea what the scientist had managed to do to it.

Tank simply shrugged his shoulders like it wasn’t that big of a deal. "As long as she is happy, she can have as many gators in the moat as she wants."

"Are you serious right now?" demanded Chang Xuefeng. "Are any of you man enough to tell your woman ’no’?"

"Nope," replied Tank with a shake of his head. "When it comes to Hattie, I will never say no."

"Nope," answered both Beau and Gluttony. Neither being was willing to have Hattie turn that face on them. They were fucked either way, so they might as well be on her good side. Besides, that gator was terrifying. It had to be at least 15 feet from nose to tail, and yet it was being carried around like a lap dog.

Nope, Beau and Gluttony weren’t going to make enemies where they didn’t have to. Pride, on the other hand, was clearly not as smart. The Sin scoffed at Chang Xuefeng’s statement. "I don’t see you telling her no, so does that not make you man enough for your woman?"

"I’m not a man; I’m the Reaper. It’s completely different," replied Chang Xuefeng as he straightened his back. "And I’ve told Hattie ’no’ more times than I can count."

"Mmmhm," hummed Pride rolling his eyes. "I have yet to witness that."

"You didn’t say no, either," pointed out Chang Xuefeng.

"Okay," sighed Hattie. "Tink is getting heavy. Can we please go now?"

The four men stopped talking and looked at the woman in their center. "Of course," agreed Chang Xuefeng. "If you want to transport us somewhere, you just have to picture where you want to go. It’s really simple."

Chang Xuefeng didn’t know if Hattie had the power to transport all of them at the same time or if she could even transport any of them. He had been the one shifting through time and space in Country K, but he had no idea where this Dragon’s Lair was.

Hattie hummed as she thought about it. "Okay. Everyone touch me and I think we can get going!" Tank and Cheng Xuefeng touched Hattie’s hands and arms while Pride and Gluttony were stuck, trying to dodge the gator’s snapping mouth as they held her from behind.

"I wish to go home," smiled Hattie, and suddenly, everything turned white.
