Chapter 189: Responsibility For His Own Actions

Chapter 189: Responsibility For His Own Actions

"We’ll take that room," I announced, pointing at the door right beside Dante. I had no idea what was behind the mystery door, but there was no way my bed was fitting in this hallway, so I had to try.

Besides, there was no way I was going to be comfortable with everyone around me.

"Oh, Sweetie," sighed Eve. "I don’t think you were listening. The doors don’t open, no matter what we do." As if to prove her point, Eve pressed down on the handle, only for the door to swing open.

"What?" she sputtered, looking down at the handle before looking back up at the open door. "How is that possible?"

One of the fathers who had been watching what we were doing stood up and tried to open the door behind him. It didn’t budge.

"We should get that room," announced the male, turning his attention back to Eve. His eyes narrowed as he tried to suppress the rage inside of him. Looking at him from the corner of my eye, I could see the smallest red dandelion seed inside of his chest, right over his heart.

Yeah, that pretty much cemented it. I wasn’t sleeping out here with even one demon, let alone the possibility of everyone in this building having their very own seed.

"No one is getting any rooms," sighed Eve as she looked at me with disappointment. She was acting like this was all my fault, but if she had simply let me do what I had wanted in the first place, everything would have worked out just fine.

"And why not? Clearly, the doors open. I also know for a fact that you aren’t sleeping in the hallway upstairs, so why should you get special treatment?" The man was now walking toward us, his wife looking around worriedly as she clutched their toddler to her chest.

Dante, ever the smart one, closed the door. "If you can open it, it’s all yours," he smirked at the man. Ah, Pride would never willingly sit back and have someone try to stand on his head to get ahead.

The man shouldered Dante and Tank out of the way as he stared down Dante. Gripping the handle, he ever so slowly pushed it down, a smirk on his face.

However, nothing happened. The handle moved, but the door didn’t budge. "Having trouble?" asked Dante, cocking his head to the side. "Or are you going to say that this is some conspiracy against you?"

"Obviously!" sneered the man as he started to shake the door back and forth. "It was just opened, so how is it now won’t work?" The father was breathing heavily as he backed away from the door. If looks could kill, the door would have been in a million pieces right now.

"Probably because you don’t deserve it," shrugged Beau with a slight smile on his face as he reached around Dante. Gripping the handle with just two fingers, he easily opened the door. However, the moment the man stepped forward to go in, Beau slammed it shut in his face. "See?"

"One of you must have some type of power," sputtered the man as he desperately looked around. "You and your fucking privilege."

"Excuse me?" murmured one of the men down the hall further away from us. "Did you really go there? Cause that is a lot like saying that those who became a zombie because of their genetics were privileged as well. Is that really what you want to say?"

"Please, the zombies are clearly those inferior humans who were already at the dredges of society. All I’m saying is that those with powers seem to think that they should be lord and ruler over all of us. And I don’t agree." The man with the wrath seed in his heart started to turn red as more and more people stood against him in the hallway.

"Look, Jamie," sighed Eve. "I really don’t feel right about kicking people out, but I think it would be best for you and your family to leave."

I had to bite my tongue at her comment, but the drama was way too much fun to watch. Even Pride and Gluttony seemed to be getting into it. In a small way, it was a great team-building exercise; fucking with the humans. We really should do it more from now on.

"Why should we leave?!?" demanded Jamie, getting up into Eve’s face. The woman was about a head shorter than him, but she didn’t back down at all. "We have been here longer than even you have," he continued, pressing his finger into Eve’s chest.

However, before he could do it a second time, the offending digit was snatched away from Eve and bent backward. "Who are you to touch my wife?" growled a man, looming over Jamie from behind.

I mean, this man was massive. Easily as big as Dante, and while not as tall as Chang Xuefeng, he had a lot of muscles on him that more than made up for it. His brown hair was cut short, and he was starting to sport a good-sized beard.

"I wouldn’t have to if she didn’t fucking pick favorites," sneered Jamie; however, Eve’s husband was putting up with it. Bending back Jamie’s finger even more, Eve’s husband forced the man to his knees in front of his wife.

"You will apologize, and then you will get the fuck out of here. We don’t need anyone stirring up shit," replied the man. It seemed that his voice was so deep that it caused the earth to tremble around him. I really wouldn’t be surprised if he were a strong Earth user.

"I’m not starting anything!" protected Jamie as he pointed a finger at me. "She started it! She demanded a room for herself."

The moment the new man’s eyes swung around to look at me, I couldn’t prevent my face from twisting in disgust. While moments before, I was cheering him on, the second our eyes met, I knew exactly who this man was.

"Adam," sighed Eve, resting her hand on his arm. "Let it go. He is literally blaming a child when he should be damn well old enough to take responsibility for his own actions."
