Chapter 143: My Bad
Chapter 143: My Bad
It was amazing how a perfectly good morning could be ruined by a male opening his mouth, and yet, here we were. My happiness flew right out the window, thanks to Chang Xuefeng.
"I don’t share, Wish Girl," snarled Chang Xuefeng as I walked down the hallway, my Teddy in my arms as I tried to figure out if I was being fed in this house. The condition that my space wouldn’t suck in anything in a place where I was planning to sleep at night was great for people I liked...
But right now, it was just another thing to piss me off.
"Congrats?" I replied, not too sure where he was going with that statement. "I don’t recall asking you to share."
It bothered me when people thought the world revolved around themselves and then blamed someone else when things didn’t fall perfectly in place. I simply told him a list of men I considered to be mine.
I did it because I didn’t want to have to kill him, but if he was going to keep up with this attitude, I might as well put the two of us out of our misery.
Walking downstairs, one hand on the railing, I narrowed my eyes at the man in front of me. "Xian—" I started, not remembering his first name at all. Then again, I was shit at it, so that really wasn’t a surprise.
"Xian Wuying," the man introduced himself for a second time. "I thought you might be hungry, so I was coming up to get you for breakfast."
"And that makes you my favorite this morning," I smiled up at him, nodding my head. "Feed me, please, and thank you." Thinking about it for a minute longer, I cocked my head toward Chang Xuefeng. "And feed him too... he’s a bit hangry this morning."
Xian Wuying dropped his head and chuckled for a moment before stretching his hand toward me. "Oh, I remember. Xuefeng never has been a morning person."
"You know Daddy?" I asked, skipping toward the offered hand and taking it.
Xian Wuying raised an eyebrow at the cranky shadow behind me when it let out a low growl. "He’s family," Xian Wuying said after a minute. Helping me down the last few steps, he wrapped his arm in mine as he led me to the dining room.
"My deepest condolences," I nodded sagely. "I have... had (?) two step-brothers like that, so I understand the pain you are going through."
Xian Wuying tilted back his head and laughed out loud, his laughter so joyous I couldn’t help but smile. "He’s my oldest cousin on my father’s side," he explained as Chang Xuefeng stomped after us. "It’s a long story, but yeah... you definitely have to feed him every two hours if you don’t want him to be cranky."
"You sure you don’t want to keep him?" I asked, looking over my shoulder and sticking out my tongue at my Handler. "I can even offer you a discounted price to take him away."
"Sorry, Sweetness," chuckled Xian Wuying as he opened a set of glass doors. "My family is pretty strict. There are no refunds or exchanges. You are stuck with him for a lifetime."
Letting out a huff, I smiled up at the man beside me before turning around and seeing at least fifty men in front of me, all sitting around the table. There were only two open chairs and three of us, so I wasn’t sure exactly what was going to happen next, but at least things weren’t boring here in City B.
The old man, who had at least pretended to be nice to me last night, seemed to have switched bodies or something because the second he saw me, his face turned thunderous. "The Red Dragon Syndicate doesn’t allow for any women to sit at the table with the men."
"Good thing I’m a kid then," I sneered at him, taking the first empty seat closest to me. It was only four seats away from the old crank, but that was fine.
"Bitches sit in the corner and eat off the floor if they aren’t in the kitchen cooking," snapped the man beside me. Chang Xuefeng stiffened as he came to a stop behind me, both his hands resting on the back of my chair.
"Then what are you doing here?" I asked, my eyes wide as I pulled a lolly-pop out of thin air. "You are the biggest bitch I’ve seen, but surely you can fit in the kitchen. You seem to be spending most of your time there, anyway."
It was amusing watching the man’s face go from red to purple to blue, as my statement registered. Almost amusing enough to put me in a better mood.
The old man at the head of the table slapped his hand on the surface, causing all the dishes and drinks to rattle around. "You are not worthy," sneered the man. I swear to god, it was almost like he had gotten a lobotomy while I slept.
Or a zombie came to eat his brain and found nothing.
"Awe," I purred, pulling the lolly-pop out of my mouth and pointing it at him. "Do I threaten you?" I asked, blinking my wide eyes. "Do I make you feel less like a man?"
The old geezer jumped to his feet in anger which freaked the men out that were standing on either side of his chair. Swaying, he pointed at me, sputtering words that didn’t make any sense at all.
"I see," I nodded. "You must be having a stroke. That’s okay. You’re old enough... you had a good run. Might as well leave the end of the world shit to the younger generation."
Gasping for air, Liu Haoyu grabbed his chest and fell back into his chair, pointing his shaking finger at me.
"Oops," I smiled up at Chang Xuefeng. "It wasn’t a stroke; it was a heart attack. My bad."
"It’s fine, Princess," chuckled Chang Xuefeng, changing his hold from the back of my chair to my shoulders. "Either way, he might as well just roll over and die. Like you said, he lived a good life."
Xian Wuying rolled his eyes as he sat down beside me. "Really," he sighed, looking at me from the corner of his eyes. "Don’t encourage him. He’s worse than a toddler when it comes to smiting anyone who so much as looked at him wrong."
