Chapter 130: Nothing Out Of Place
Chapter 130: Nothing Out Of Place
Nodding my head, I called for a lollypop, loving the fact that it was one of those extra large ones with the swirl. I had no idea where my space had managed to pick this thing up, but I really wasn’t going to argue.
Handing it over to my Handler (Ha!) I waited for him to unwrap it as I stared at the Alpha in front of me. As soon as it was handed back, I took a few licks, loving the way the sugar hit my bloodstream.
"Not quite," I chuckled. "You need to say the word, all the words, just as I told you."
"And if I don’t?" chuckled back the Alpha. There was something in his tone that made Chang Xuefeng to straighten behind me, stepping forward so that his back was pressed against my own. "The men in the stands today didn’t have any conditions on their wishes."
"Are you so sure of that?" I replied, tilting the lollypop to the side so the Alpha could see the smile on my face. "Because I’m pretty sure that the majority of them are dead right now. Unless you would prefer to have that be the condition of your wish? Your soul in exchange for never having laid eyes on me? Because that wish isn’t going away. You put it out in the universe, and so it stays."
The Alpha glared at me, his eyes narrowing as he studied my face. Not caring about him, I continued to lick at my lollypop. It would have been nice if it was small enough to fit in my mouth completely, but this was giving the perfect look for the Alpha who thought he was in charge.
"What words do I need to say?" grumbled the Alpha, leaning back in his chair.
"I wish it was like you were never here. I wish that no one remembers anything about you and that everything goes back to the way it was before you entered Camp Hell. In exchange, I will let Chang Xuefeng have his freedom, promising to forget about him completely and have everyone forget about him, too," I say, a bright smile on my face.
"Do you need me to write that down, or can you remember it?" I continued, my smile twisting into a smirk.
The Alpha repeated my words perfectly; each syllable was pronounced so that there was no mistake about exactly what he wished for.
"Deal accepted," chuckled the woman’s voice in my head. "You are getting good at this."
Honestly, it felt like I was making these types of deals forever now, so I simply shrugged my shoulders.
"Deal accepted," I announced to the Alpha. "It’s a pleasure doing business with you."
"And yet, you are still here," sighed the Alpha, his face twisted in a sneer. "I knew it was too good to be true."
"Our agreement starts the second Chang Xuefeng, and I pass through your front gates," I replied, rolling my eyes. "You know, in case you went back on your word."
"I am the Alpha of Camp Hell," announced the Alpha, coming to his feet. "I don’t go back on my word."
"Of course you don’t," I agreed. "Which is why we will be leaving now." Turning to Chang Xuefeng, I looked at him. "Do you have anything you want to bring with you?"
"Nothing," replied Chang Xuefeng with a shake of his head. "I’m ready to leave now."
"Then let’s get a move on," sneered the Alpha, waving his hand in front of him so that we could exit his office first.
Still, more than happy with my lollypop, I skipped as far ahead as the leash would allow me, the Alpha leading the way.
"Alpha," growled the guard as he looked at me and Chang Xuefeng. "Is there an issue?"
"No," replied the Alpha. "Open the gates."
"Sir," grunted the good guard, not once asking his Alpha any questions.
As soon as the gate was open, Chang Xuefeng and I slipped through it and started to walk down the road in front of us.
----
The Alpha stared at the gate for a second, his eyes narrowing as he turned to the guard.
"Why is this gate open?" he demanded, his voice nothing more than a low growl. "Is this how you protect your Alpha? By letting anyone in or out?"
"No, Alpha," sputtered the guard, looking between the opened gate and the Alpha. "I have no idea why this thing is open. I promise! I have been standing here the entire time. No one has come in or out. I stake my life on it."
The Alpha snorted before tapping his foot, waiting for the guard to hurry up and lower the gate. "I’ll be doing a cage check personally. If we are missing anyone, you will die. Do you understand?"
The guard gulped but couldn’t do anything more than just nod his head. "Of course, Alpha. My life is yours to do with what you want."
That night, the Alpha did a personal check on every cage, from the fighters to the whores. Something was bothering him, something had happened, but for the life of him, he couldn’t figure out just what it was.
"Where is Silent But Deadly?" he asked suddenly, his eyes narrowing on an empty human cage. He couldn’t remember the human’s name, but he also couldn’t remember the last time he had seen Silent But Deadly.
The Reaver beside him paled. "We don’t know, Alpha," the Reaver answered, his eyes darting around the camp as if Silent But Deadly was going to pop out of the woods and save him. "We don’t know."
The Alpha grunted low, his voice nothing more than a rumble of displeasure. None of his horde could actually leave him; he would feel it, but the spot that Silent But Deadly normally stood inside of him was nothing more than a blank slate.
He wasn’t alive; he hadn’t escaped. But why couldn’t he remember how his best fighter was killed?
"He’s dead," he stated, his face blank. "Find a new Reaver to be our fighter. Tonight’s fights are done, we’ll need to have one ready to go into the pits as of tomorrow."
Cutting back through the fighter’s section, the Alpha stopped in front of the pit. Everything looked exactly how it should have; nothing was out of place. So what was bugging him?
Something shiny in the ground caught his attention. Crouching down, he picked up a single gold coin. Where the Hell did this come from?
