Chapter 129: That’s It?

Cocking my head to the side, I looked at him. "If you could do that, why are you still under his thumb?" I asked. It seemed stupid. If you knew you could kill someone you didn’t like, why wouldn’t you?

"Because then I would have to take over his horde, and I don’t want to deal with half the idiots in it," grunted Chang Xuefeng as he turned me around so that I was looking at the exit once again.

Right. Because there were consequences to your actions. I kept forgetting about that minor detail. Meh, no big deal.

Still holding onto my leash as if that was really going to keep me from going batshit crazy and killing everyone, Chang Xuefeng led me to what looked to be a cabin. I was beginning to think that calling this place Camp Hell wasn’t because it was hellish but rather because it was once an actual summer camp.

Personally, I had never been to one, but it looked similar to what I had seen on TV, so it wasn’t that big of a stretch.

"Be good," Chang Xuefeng muttered right in my ear. Even then, it was hard to hear him. Shrugging my shoulders, I just gave him a big smile. It was like he didn’t know me at all.

Nodding my head, Chang Xuefeng let out a long sigh as he lifted his hand and knocked on the door.

"Enter," growled a voice from the other side. I didn’t know if I had ever met the Alpha before, but it was fun pissing someone off without intending to. I should try it more often.

As soon as Chang Xuefeng opened the door, he pulled me off to one side as a knife came hurdling out of the opening. It was still at least two feet above my head, so I would have been completely fine... but it would have landed in Chang Xuefeng’s neck if he hadn’t moved.

That was a lot less fine.

"You," hissed the Reaver behind the desk. It was weird. Besides his height, there was nothing screaming Reaver to me. His black hair was perfectly done, not a stray hair anywhere to be seen, and his skin was flawless.

Hell, he was even sitting there in a three-piece suit and tie. Well, I assumed he was wearing dress pants; he seemed the type, but he could have easily been wearing pajama pants, I guess. His bottom half was hidden by a desk, after all.

"Me?" I asked, cocking my head to the side as I continued to stare at the Reaver. "What did I do?"

"What did you do?" hissed the Reaver, coming halfway up, his hands pressed so hard to the top of his desk that I could hear the wood creaking. The good news was that I could see that he was wearing tan pants to go with his tan vest and jacket.

The baby blue shirt and polka dot tie didn’t seem to match the Alpha air that he was trying to go for...but to each their own.

Nodding my head, I bit back my smile. My head stayed tipped to the side as I waited for him to keep going. This was more entertaining than I thought it would be. By the way, everyone spoke about the Alpha; I expected some terrifying boogeyman...

But this Reaver couldn’t seem to even finish a sentence.

"You have completely destroyed my Camp," continued the Reaver. Taking in a deep breath, he visibly tried to control himself as he sat back done in his office chair. Fixing his suit jacket, he folded his hands in front of him and stared me down, his face impassive.

"Do you know how much it is going to cost me to rebuild everything that you have destroyed by your little stunt?" sneered the Alpha, the mantle of power draping his shoulders again as he took control.

Too bad it wouldn’t work on me.

"How did you do that?" he continued when I refused to reply to his rhetorical question. "The gold coins."

"I grant wishes," I shrugged. "It’s what I do."

The Alpha snorted, leaning back in his chair as he looked me up and down. "Try something else," he sneered at me, clearly not believing a word out of my mouth. "You have killed my best fighter, destroyed my pit, killed my patrons. I wish I had never laid eyes on you."

My ears perked up at his words. "I can make that wish come true," I smiled at him, skipping forward, only to be jerked back by my leash. Turning around, I glared at Chang Xuefeng.

He raised his eyebrows but refused to let me get too close to the Alpha in front of me. I didn’t know if he was trying to save me from the other Reaver or if he was trying to save the Reaver from me, but either way, he wasn’t letting me go forward.

"What did you say?" demanded the Alpha, his voice soft and threatening. "Say that again."

"I can make it so that you never laid eyes on me. Hell, I can make it so that the second I leave this office, your pit is back in order and no one will even remember me or what I did here," I dropped my voice as I continued to purr.

"Just think about it. Everything will be exactly how it was before, and you won’t have to offer an explanation about what happened. Everyone will just forget the past week or so. What do you say? There is only one small condition to that wish. It’s really nothing if you think about it."

"Everything will go back to how it was before?" repeated the Alpha, a gleam in his eyes. "And no one will remember the gold coins or anything about you? What is this condition?"

"Then, when I walk out of the front gate, I take Chang Xuefeng with me," I shrugged. Could I have just left? Of course I could. I was pretty sure that nothing could stop me when I really wanted something, and I was more than done with this place.

The stench of fear whenever anyone saw me was starting to make me nauseous.

"That is? You take your Handler, and everything goes back to normal?"
