Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse
Chapter 128: The Alpha Wants You

Chapter 128: The Alpha Wants You

You would think that someone getting their throat slit, with blood pouring out of the semi-decapitated corpse, would put a damper on the people’s enjoyment.

You would be wrong.

If anything, it made the crowd go even more wild as they swarmed the almost-dead man, trying to get the gold coins from him. Some of the men even fell into the pit as they scrambled over the protective barrier, trying to get closer.

Men cheered, and others groaned as the gold continued to fall straight down. Clearly, the man wasn’t dead yet if the wish was still ongoing. I wondered how he felt about being trampled down under the feet of those around him as he struggled to breathe his next breath.

"It looks like we are no longer the center of attention," I muttered, crossing my legs in front of me as the human under me tried to fight through the pain. "Does it really hurt that much?" I continued, calling some pre-popped popcorn from Teddy as I watched the show in the stands.

More men were trying to get in on the wealth, and I could feel the deaths of the audience members as others killed them for what they had. It really wasn’t surprising that they were willing to kill to get the gold; after all, they were more than happy to watch me do it.

Finally, the gold stopped falling from the sky, and cries of protest rose from around me. It took them even longer to realize that there was no gold in their hands or in their pockets, and when that realization hit, they turned to me.

"Where did it go?" demanded one of the men. His hands were clutching the barrier between us while he stood stories above me. Did that make him feel more powerful? Being up higher than me?

Such a shame.

"When the person making the wish dies, so does the wish," I answered with a shrug.

You would think that knowing that, the men in the audience would have settled down and gone back to betting on a sure thing... me winning this match.

But once again, you would be wrong.

As soon as they realized what I had said, everyone started to wish for more wealth than they could imagine, which resulted in gold coins pelting down, injuring the men trying to grab it. But when thousands of men wish for wealth...

The weight of the people and the gold coins was too much for the poor coliseum. The stands crumpled under the weight of everything, and people screamed as everything collapsed around them.

"Now," I sighed, making my popcorn disappear. I was a little disappointed that all my fun had disappeared, but it was time to get back to business. "As for you."

Looking down at the man who was glaring at me, I let out a long sigh. "I have to poke you in the eyes with my fingers and remove your eyeballs at the same time." The look of horror on the man’s face should have made me laugh, but I really didn’t want to do that.

It seemed so unsanitary for me to put my fingers into his eyeballs. Like... ewe.

Letting out a second long sigh, I grumbled under my breath. The woman in my head didn’t have to do the dirty work; she just had to agree to the deal. But me? I think I was going to have to be a bit more picky when it came to wishes.

I was definitely not doing this a second time.

Letting out a string of French curse words, I crouched low beside the man. "But you should be grateful," I continued, psyching myself up for what was to come. "The Healer could probably heal this... if you let her. But speaking from experience, it’s not all that bad being blind. It’s not like you could see all that well to begin with."

The Crusher started begging as tears and snot poured out of him. "Please," he whimpered. "Please don’t do this. The audience is distracted; they won’t know either way. Please, don’t do this."

"Because the audience is distracted, I don’t have to kill you," I pointed out. Sticking out my two fingers, I stared at my nails, wrinkling my nose as I did. "But the one who made this wish is still alive."

Shrugging my shoulders, I stuck my two fingers into his eyes, trying not to puke.

The texture was a lot like peeled grapes or jelly, as I felt around his sockets. A tiny ding let me know that I had successfully stuck my fingers into his eyes. (Thank you, wish-granting powers, because I clearly wouldn’t be able to know the wish had been granted without that tiny ding). But I still needed to be able to pull the eyeballs out of the socket.

Which really wasn’t all that easy. Mostly because they were connected by little stringy bits that were connected to the brain.

Wiggling my fingers, I found the stringy bits and started to cut away the cord.

As soon as I felt the snap, I pulled my fingers back, taking his eyeballs with me.

"Well," grunted Chang Xuefeng, entering the pit. "That was a bit excessive."

"You’re telling me," I complained, waving my hand so hard that the eyeballs went flying across the pit. "You weren’t the one who had to do it. Now, I have to wash my hands like a billion times to get rid of that feeling.

"You can do that after," sighed Chang Xuefeng as The Crusher’s handler came moaning into the pit. "The Alpha wants to talk to you."

Shrugging my shoulders, I let Chang Xuefeng clip my leash back on me like I was some type of rabid beast. "Might as well see what Daddy wants," I grumbled under my breath. It wasn’t even like I could get something to eat, not with slime-covered fingers.

Next time, I would use my left hand.

"Wish girl," paused Chang Xuefeng. Gripping me by my shoulders, he bent forward so that he could look me in my eyes. "You don’t have to be scared. I will protect you. I might not be known for ripping people apart, but I can take on the Alpha and win."
