Chapter 123: A New Puppy
The sound that came out of Brittney’s mouth was something between a child being abandoned by their mother or a dog being abandoned by its owner as she watched Dante walking away from her.
And it was the sweetest sound that Tank had ever heard.
It took him a while to come down here, to calm down enough to be able to give Hattie the justice that she deserved. For the longest time, he was worried that he would just slit Brittney’s throat; his rage was so great.
But then, today, in the shower, he had come up with the sweetest of torments. Add on a new pet zombie that he didn’t even know he had...
Well, the possibilities were endless.
"Since you don’t know anything, then I guess there is nothing I can get from you," sighed Tank, taking something from his pant pocket. Holding the little thing up to the faint light, he squeezed the top and bottom.
"Do you know what this is?" he asked, his concentration still on the contraption in his hands. When Brittney whimpered, he took that as his answer.
"You’re right, it’s a cigar cutter. Smoking is a nasty habit, but one that I just can’t stop right now. It’s the stress, you know. Making all these promises to the most perfect girl in the world only to have her vanish... it causes stress."
Walking forward, Tank reached up and grabbed one of Brittney’s hands in his own. Moving her fingers aside until only the index finger was between his, he threaded the finger through the cigar cutter until it was at the first joint.
"Did you know that the human body has 360 joints?" mused Tank as he quickly applied pressure. The sound of a snap echoed throughout the room as Brittney’s strangled screams followed quickly after.
Letting go of her hand, Tank bent down to pick up the tip of her finger. "Well, I guess you now have 359. That’s almost one joint a day for the entire year. Isn’t that fantastic?"
When Brittney whimpered, begging for forgiveness, Tank simply rolled his eyes. "I guess you aren’t nearly as happy about it as I am. But then again, I don’t really want to see your face every day for an entire year, so I am going to cut you apart, joint by joint, until I get bored. Then I’ll come back tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that until there is nothing left to you."
Throwing the digit to the zombie, the creature that was once Antoine snapped it out of the air, chewing on it vigorously until there was nothing left.
Calm now that it had been fed, the zombie simply stared at Tank, completely unmoving.
"Huh," murmured Tank as he studied the zombie chained to the pillars of his basement. "I wish I had you a few years ago. It would have been so much easier hiding the dead bodies if I had someone to eat them. Seriously, it would have saved so many chiropractor appointments, trying to get my back feeling better after digging all those graves."
The zombie didn’t so much as move, its eyes never leaving Tank’s for a single moment. It was like a duck that had imprinted on the first person it saw. Only in this case, the zombie imprinted on the first person who fed it.
Just like a puppy.
Tank, feeling bad for the poor creature, walked over to Brittney as she begged and pleaded for him to stop.
"I bet Hattie begged just like you are, didn’t she?" he mused. As soon as the words were out, he knew they were wrong. Hattie never would have begged; she was too strong for that.
"She didn’t beg," gasped Brittney as, this time, Tank two joints, completely removing her index finger from her hand. Taking the finger, Tank tossed it toward the zombie.
Just like before, it snapped the digit out of the air, munching on it happily like a dog with a bone.
"Ah," nodded Tank sagely, moving onto the next finger. "I assumed as much. And I guess you were here to listen to her. But I don’t need you to tell me what happened. When Hattie comes back, she’ll tell me herself."
Brittney shook her head mutely as, with three snips of the cigar cutter, she lost her middle finger.
The zombie moaned happily with every offering, its entire body focusing completely on Tank as if Tank was its new God... or the Alpha of the pack.
"Don’t worry," smiled Tank, looking over at the creature beside him. "There are enough treats for you to have."
It took Tank two days to completely and methodically dismember Brittney one joint at a time. And he made sure that she was alive for every snip and cut of his knife. While she might not have laid a hand on Hattie herself, she was still a part of it and needed to be punished.

"I’ve got a fight lined up for you tonight," announced Chang Xuefeng as he approached my cage. "It’s not the best one, but it should be enough to keep you entertained... especially if you play with your food for a while."
Letting out a jaw-cracking yawn, I turned over and looked at the Reaver. "Okay," I murmured softly. The weird thing about being locked in a cage with only one key was that I slept better than a baby.
No one could get in to surprise me or attack me, so I no longer had to worry about anything. This cage even came with an upgrade... a bucket in the corner! I mean, it wasn’t the Ritz, but it was definitely a step up from the first cage I had found myself in.
"That is? Okay? Do you know how much work I had to put into this fight? The only reason why it was accepted was because the human is like four times your size," sputtered Chang Xuefeng, clearly upset that I didn’t give him the recognition he deserved.
"Fine," I replied, my eyes still half closed as I sat up in bed. Making sure that Teddy was safely tucked away back in my tattoo, I finally gave my ’handler’ my full attention. "You granted my wish, so I’ll grant one of yours. What is it that you wish for... or glorious one?"
