Chapter 106: A Magical Kingdom

Gluttony stared at the woman in the mirror, poking at the grains of rice in her porridge.

She looked nothing like the woman he had fallen in love with. The air of confidence and mischief was nowhere to be seen. Instead, there appeared to be an adult, weary with the weight of the world on her shoulders.

Her hair, while still a light color, was now more white than pale blue, and it hung down to her waist. Strands were twisted together as if she hadn’t bothered to brush her hair in a while, but while it would have suited the Hattie from before, it didn’t suit this woman.

She was wearing a white long-sleeve shirt with dried blood on her right forearm. The sleeves covered half of her hands, with her thumb sticking through a hole in the cuff. Even her pants, a tight leather-looking pair, didn’t suit the Hattie he knew.

All around her, men stared at her hungrily as if she was their next meal. They seemed to be in a camp ground of some kind with trees all around them, but there was also a hard cover roof covering the area where Hattie was eating.

This was nothing short of a crime for his woman to even step foot inside a place like this, looking like that... and yet, she wasn’t complaining at all.

In fact, if Gluttony didn’t have the ability to see her through the mirror, he really would have continued to think that everything was perfect.

She found someone to heal the wounds she had gotten while under the care of Dante, and yet, new wounds had already replaced the old ones.

"Are you sure you are okay where you are?" asked Gluttony, gripping the frame of the mirror on both sides. He would give up everything to be there beside her, to be able to hold her again. Instead, he was stuck on this side of the mirror.

Fuck the Devil for locking them inside Hell. It was supposed to be an exchange... when the Devil ruled, the Sins were free to come and go as they pleased. But in order to make sure that the power was always balanced, the Sins were required to stay in Hell if the Devil wasn’t there.

Wrath had escaped seconds before the Devil had disappeared, and now the Sins were stuck, weak, without the ability to recharge on Earth.

Fuck his life, and fuck the Devil. He was going to give that man a piece of his mind when and if he ever showed up again.

"This is like a vacation," chuckled Hattie. "I don’t have to worry about anything, and there is free entertainment whenever I am in the mood. Seriously, what more could I possibly want? Well... that’s not true. There is something I want."

"Tell me, and if it is in our power, I’ll make sure that you have it," promised Gluttony, leaning forward until his nose was pressed against the cold surface of the mirror.

"Take care of yourself. Do whatever you have to do so that you and the others are safe. I’ll collect more wishes, and hopefully, those will help Greed heal faster."

Forcing himself to let go of the frame, Gluttony reached out and touched Hattie’s reflection in the mirror. Forcing a tiny bit of power into his hand, he let it sink into Hattie’s realm.

Smiling brightly, Hattie tilted her head to the side, letting him cup her cheek.

"Soon enough, you will be by my side," Gluttony promised her, his voice nothing more than a whisper. "And as soon as that happens, I am never letting you out of my sight again."

Hattie nodded her head, closing her eyes so that she could enjoy his touch even more.

Gluttony had closed his eyes, too, so he missed the attack.

----

I was so lost in Gluttony’s touch that I had completely forgotten about my surroundings. It was a rookie move, but there was no one to blame but myself.

"Give me your meat," growled a voice behind me. The man was bigger than I was, even with my new body, and the hand wrapped around my neck made me believe that he wasn’t going without meat too much.

"Okay," I shrugged, holding up the plate with the bun and meat to him. "I can even throw in the bun if you want."

There was no way I was going to waste the energy needed to fight him over something I wasn’t going to eat anyway.

The man grunted and pulled the plate away, releasing my neck at the same time.

"I’m sorry," grunted Gluttony in my head. "I shouldn’t have been distracted like that."

His words made me realize something very important that I had overlooked until this moment. "You can see me?" I asked out loud, completely forgetting that I wasn’t alone.

One of the men nearby snorted at my statement, and I rolled my eyes. "I was talking to the voice in my head, Silly, not you." Seriously, how conceited did he have to be to think I was talking to him?!?

"I can see you," admitted Gluttony.

’What do you think of my new look?’ I hadn’t actually seen myself in the mirror, so I had no idea what I looked like, but... I hated this new body.

"I hate it," chuckled Gluttony as if he was reading my mind. "You don’t look like you."

’I agree,’ I replied, nodding my head. ’I have no idea how I am going to do it, but I am going back to how I was before.’

"There is another person coming. I’m going to go so you can concentrate on staying safe, okay?" murmured Gluttony.

’Don’t tell Greed. Tell him that his sacrifice worked, and I am completely healed, even my eyes,’ I grunted just as I heard the approaching footsteps. ’I don’t want him to feel guilty for anything. Plus, think of all the wishes! This is practically a magical kingdom of wishes just ready to be granted.’
