Bastards Ascension: A Playground of Gods
Chapter 45: Getting a weapon 2

Chapter 45: Getting a weapon 2

Kieran stood in front of the blade, his hands barely some meters away from it, when he heard the loud voice.

"Are you sure it’s that blade you want, my lady?" the old man, dressed in a butler’s wear, asked with a wry smile.

He didn’t see anything special about the sword.

If he was to say, then the sword was probably the most simple weapon in the entire room.

There was no profound aura around it.

No energy emitting from it.

And it didn’t look as grand as the other weapons either.

It was just... normal.

"Yes, I want the bl—"

While she was still mid-sentence, Kieran moved the sword down from the rack.

Catching her attention immediately.

She stared at him blankly, shocked that he had carried the blade after hearing that she wanted it.

Kieran observed the clean blade, the edges sharp and thin... perhaps too sharp, sharper than a normal blade.

He glanced down to the price tag and description.

{Gefforth’s Blade}

{Description: A sword formed from a very special metal}

{Price: 20 Doperium}

The information on the blade was vague... too vague.

But he could sense the humongous amount of Aetheris pouring out of the blade.

While the others couldn’t sense the energy coming from the seemingly normal blade, Kieran was different.

He knew both the importance of Aetheris and its uses.

For a blade to be emitting it, and at the same time a large amount, then it definitely couldn’t be your normal blade!

Even Alexa was shocked, sensing the amount of energy in the sword.

"This definitely can’t be a normal blade... if you’re taking any weapon, then it has to be this one," Alexa said with a deep frown on her face.

Any clues to find the missing gods, then she was willing to take it.

Kieran looked at the price tag again.

’I guess they don’t have any idea what the sword is either, else the price would’ve been much higher than this,’ Kieran thought to himself, looking at the blade with a satisfied smile.

While the others would spend lots buying fancy weapons, he could spend little knowing the actual worth of the blade in his hands.

Aetheris wasn’t an energy to be taken lightly.

Kieran carried the sword calmly. Surprisingly, the blade was lightweight.

It didn’t put any strain on his arms at all.

Kieran walked towards the exit, not even sparing a glance at the girl behind him.

"Hey you! I said I want that blade!" she shouted from the back, but Kieran didn’t spare her a glance as he continued out of the gallery, ignoring her as though she was a dog barking.

Gasps escaped from the mouths of everyone watching.

It was even at this moment they all realized who had been demanding for the weapon.

Natasha Garmine.

She was from the Garmine family, a branch of one of the main Origin families that had been separated and ruled out from the main family.

Her father, Hilston Garmine, was once the head of the main family. But after his death in a conquest of an S-rank realm, he died.

The family was thrown out after it was discovered that they hid a resourceful realm stacked with Doperium.

The information was backed with proof, and ultimately they were expelled from the family main branch.

Regardless, their status within society—although depreciating—they were still looked at with high reverence.

Even without the main branch’s support, the family still had lots of awakens, and not just that, but awakens with high ranks.

However, since they were restricted by the AFO to start up their own faction, the Garmine family could only merge their members with other factions in hopes of getting high ranks there.

Natasha was a testament to that, as she had awakened an S-rank talent.

They were not to be looked down on at all.

And that was the same for Natasha, who was the current star of the family.

Natasha was stunned by the boy’s courage.

Her eyes were left wide open in shock as Kieran walked out of the gallery, taking with him a weapon she took interest in.

Her lips twitched in annoyance.

"Are you going to watch him leave with the weapon?" Natasha asked, her blue eyes burning with anger as she turned to the butler.

"My lady, he got to the weapon first... Taking it from him would be—" the butler was still mid-sentence when he sensed her burning gaze latched onto him.

He swallowed back his words, answering with a calm and earnest voice.

"Very well, my lady. I’ll go get the weapon from him," he replied, quickly following behind Kieran.

Natasha was left in the gallery hall... when a young man approached her.

It was the same boy that Kieran had ignored.

He was looking for the perfect opportunity to get back at Kieran. It seemed one had just presented itself.

"That boy, he is truly arrogant... disregarding your statement and taking the blade. I’m sure he doesn’t even have the money to pay for it," he scoffed, looking towards the door where Kieran exited.

Natasha looked at the young boy by her side, her gaze sharp and cold.

Sending chills down the boy’s spine.

She ignored him, following the exit to get to Kieran as well.

"Ha, he probably thought he could get to her," a man commented with loud laughter from the side after witnessing their interaction.

Natasha wasn’t just strong, but a high-class beauty!

Everyone had their eyes on the beautiful star of the Garmine family.

His purpose was mistaken, leaving him embarrassed in the grand gallery.

Muffled laughs coming from the side as they looked at him.

John gritted his teeth angrily, tightening his fist.

’None of this would’ve happened if not for that poor brat!’

Meanwhile, Natasha followed behind her butler, her thoughts churning.

’That blade... it had it right... the energy Grandpa used to talk about... my pendant reacted to it,’ she thought to herself as she walked hastily through the corridors, trying to catch up with Kieran as fast as she could.

She glanced at the beautiful pendant locked to her neck.

Its stone gleaming with a faint light.

Kieran reached the receptionist who had guided him to the gallery earlier.

"Miss, I’m taking this," he said with a warm smile.

The woman looked at him, then replied warmly.

"Very well then, let’s bag it up for you," she replied as she carried the blade, heading over to the counter.

"This should cost you twenty Doperiums," the lady said, flashing her never-fading smile at him.

"Yes, I’m aware," Kieran replied calmly, handing over the card Jacob had given him.

Just then, the butler walked up to him with hurried footsteps.

"Young sir, please wait," the butler said warmly.

Kieran turned, looking at him indifferently. He recognized the butler instantly.

"What?" Kieran asked with a calm expression on his face.

"Young sir, please. Can you hand me the weapon? My young mistress needs it... Do not worry, we’ll pay you as well for the blade."

"No," Kieran replied curtly.

Not even giving the butler a second chance to talk.

If it were any other weapon, then probably he would’ve considered and sold it off... he was still going to earn, and this would’ve been the perfect opportunity to drag in another fortune from their desperation.

However, unluckily for them, the weapon contained a very crucial element that Kieran needed.

"Young sir, we could offer you ten times the price if you give us the weapon," the butler offered without hesitation.

Kieran’s breath hitched.

That was two hundred Doperiums!

’I could use that to get a good customized battle suit!’ Kieran cried inwardly.

Which was the same as twenty thousand dollars.

A price enough to make him reconsider.

But then again... he couldn’t hand it out.

"Sir, you can check out our other weapons... I’m certain you’ll find something better than this," the lady chipped in, after packaging the blade for Kieran.

"The blade was a weapon found in a different realm by our founder. Although it is sharper than most swords and made with a special steel... it has no other special qualities attached to it," the lady urged.

She couldn’t watch her customer fight to bargain over an average sword when there were better weapons in their gallery.

The butler smiled bitterly, as he already knew this, but Natasha thought differently.

Kieran didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at her shamelessness.

’She didn’t tell me this because she felt that it was the only weapon I could afford,’ Kieran thought to himself.

While she was explaining all this to get the butler to buy from them, she didn’t care to give all this information to the buyer who was purchasing the item.

It was a clear sign that she had disregarded him from the start.

Her smiles were simply courtesy.

A lie furnished over time to look like truth.

He didn’t care though. If there was one thing he knew, it was that the seemingly normal sword must’ve been the most valuable weapon in their entire gallery.

"Thank you," Kieran replied, taking the wrapped weapon, his tone not as polite as the first time.

He made his way towards the exit.

When he heard Natasha’s voice again.

"Please wait!"
