Bastards Ascension: A Playground of Gods
Chapter 44: Getting a weapon.

Chapter 44: Getting a weapon.

Ra’Gul Weapon Store.

One of the greatest stores in the merchant streets of the Megacity Varlc.

...And definitely not a place for someone like Kieran to get his first weapon.

But since he had enough, he decided to treat himself well.

Kieran walked up the grand stairs...

Since this was a high-class store, the store wasn’t flocking with people.

As most preferred buying more materials for survival rather than buying just one.

In a different realm, where one didn’t know what he would face... quantity at times was much better than quality.

Survival didn’t need quality... What it needed was materials, and quantity seemed to offer more of that.

The electronic doors slid open as he got closer.

"Good day, young sir. Welcome to Ra’Gul... Please, how may I help you today?"

Kieran was greeted by a young lady immediately he stepped into the store.

She was dressed in corporate wear.

One that fit perfectly with the class of the store.

From mere look, he could tell that this was no normal weapon store.

From the cleanly tiled floor to the golden paint on the wall.

The entire store gave off a scent of luxury.

"I would like to purchase a weapon," Kieran replied.

"Alright, please this way," she said, gesturing for him to follow her.

She led the way.

Suddenly starting a long speech on the history of the Ra’Gul... one that Kieran was certain she had rehearsed over and over again.

"The Ra’Gul store has existed since the first gate opened in our world, becoming the first-ever weapon store to be sited in history."

Her voice was calm, confident, and seemed to carry an air of intrigue as she continued.

"Our store, now known far and wide in all the realms, has created a standard for great quality... I’m certain that you won’t leave today without finding a weapon that would suit your taste," she declared confidently.

Her speech ended as they made their last turn in the passage, finally stopping in front of a large double door.

"Young sir, this is our gallery... You can pick any weapon you wish for," she said, pushing the door open with little to no force.

The double doors creaked open, revealing a large gallery.

The ceiling stretching almost a thousand meters high.

Kieran looked in awe as he stepped into the gallery.

The place exuded a profound aura.

The weapons were neatly arranged in the room.

Some kept in showcases, while some were simply placed on holders.

"Their descriptions and price tags are placed there with them. If you find any weapon you like, don’t hesitate to meet me... I’ll be in front," she said with a soft voice, exiting through the door.

Kieran looked around. He could find some people looking at his corner, their gazes condescending.

Apparently, his presence raised a lot of questions.

"Tch, seems like someone lost his way," a young man said, barely restraining his voice.

Kieran didn’t look towards the fellow and merely ignored him.

He was still dumbstruck by the sheer amount of weapons in the gallery.

’It’ll be difficult to pick a weapon here,’ Kieran thought to himself, as he took gentle strides through the store.

He caught sight of a double dagger, placed inside glass.

The daggers were placed crossing each other.

The hilt had a jade-black color with intricate, intertwined patterns of gold drawn across it.

The dagger looked beautiful.

The edges sharp, giving an enchanting feeling.

{Twin Snake Daggers}

{Description: Blades carved from the remains of the king beast >> Twin Serpent.}

{Enchantment: Poison Ivy}

{Price: 100 Doperium}

Kieran was reading the description of the dagger when he saw the price and almost coughed up blood.

’What?! A hundred Doperiums for just one weapon?’

That was a crazy sum... enough to get him an apartment for two months with change left.

Alexa chuckled at his reaction.

"You should’ve known it would be costly before you came in... At home, there was a store similar to this... You’d be surprised how much they’d take for a toothpick."

’I only managed to get five hundred Doperiums from the faction for this month... I can’t spend a hundred like that, since I would still have to get other equipment as well... I’ll have to manage,’ Kieran sighed.

Now he could see why many avoided the Ra’Gul, but leaving wasn’t an option either...

’I’ll definitely find something go—’

"No! Hmph, I don’t like daggers."

Kieran’s thoughts were cut short by the loud voice that came from his side.

He looked to his side to find a young girl.

She looked to be around the same age as himself.

Her hair tied into a double ponytail.

She wore a long black gown, walking with a confidence that made it seem as though she owned the place.

She didn’t even stop to read the description as she passed Kieran, going deeper down the gallery to check out the other weapons.

’Probably just awakened as well... I guess she’s looking for a weapon for the recruits’ training,’ Kieran thought.

His gaze lingered on her for a while longer.

He turned his head and continued his exploration.

Swords, spears, axes, bows...

There were no limits to the weapons he saw in the gallery.

’Why are all the swords and daggers so costly?’ Kieran thought, the frustration finally getting on his nerves.

Leaving the second sword he had seen.

’It was even worse than the dagger, a hundred and fifty Doperiums.’ As much as he wanted quality, he knew he didn’t have much to spend either.

Axes weren’t an option for him, since he had a lean build.

Arrows—he didn’t fancy them... and that was the same for spears and gauntlets.

The boy who had commented earlier had already picked his weapons and saw him walking past another weapon.

The boy laughed.

"When will you know this place isn’t for people like you?" the boy finally said, his voice dripping with mockery.

Kieran turned his head to look at the boy... a deep frown on his face, but he didn’t say a thing as he continued his exploration.

His silence left the boy standing there in embarrassment as the others looked at him, muttering side comments.

’That bastard brat!’ the boy thought, enraged.

He wasn’t going to leave without making Kieran pay.

Kieran was walking through the hall, yet to see any other weapon that piqued his interest.

’If I don’t see any other sword, I guess I’ll just have to pick one from the other two I saw before,’ he concluded in his mind.

At best, he would only have to manage the remaining money till the end of the month.

As he moved through the gallery, he felt the hairs on his body stand, as though reacting to something.

It wasn’t just him.

"I sense Aetheris... over there," Alexa pointed in the direction.

Kieran walked towards the weapon with slow strides.

It was a tall sword...

Its steel-plated blade glistening.

Reflecting his face like a mirror.

There was something about the sword. It looked normal, with no designs whatsoever.

But it was calling to him.

Kieran reached out to take it, when he heard the familiar voice from earlier.

"Yes, I want that!"
