Awakening of the Scheming Wife
Chapter 95: Tease? Yes!

Chapter 95: Tease? Yes!

Vernon blinked and slowly nodded, "So now Grace had ’insulted’ Professor Jones for not raising her daughter properly?"

He lowered his voice and whispered softly when he asked that.

Jemma immediately nodded and sighed in relief that he finally understood what happened while Helena smiled and winked playfully.

Vernon took a moment of silence before raising his hand to give her a thumbs up.

Helena smiled happily at his gesture, and the trio laughed happily.

"Where is Vincent?" Jemma asked Vernon when she realized that he did not come along with his brother.

Vernon replied, "He said he had something to deal with and will be here in a while."

Jemma just nodded and did not ask much.

She knew that whatever he went to do had something to do with what Vernon talked to him about.

The trio started greeting all the guests and mingled with everyone.

After a while, they saw Grace coming out of the washroom with her eyes turned red.

Helena frowned and looked at her, but the latter did not notice her at all. She just took her purse and talked about something in her mother’s ears.

Madam Hedworth’s expression changed and she talked something back to her daughter. Grace just shook her head and used her finger to point at the entrance of the venue.

Helena understood that she wanted to leave now.

Helena looked at Vernon and smiled at him. Vernon had seen everything along with her. So he understood why she was looking at him and smiling.

He shook his head and sighed, "I did not think Minister Morris would act so quickly this time."

It hasn’t been even an hour since the issue earlier and Grace was already ’punished’ by him.

Helena crossed her arms and chuckled, "Never underestimate the power of a henpecked husband."

Vernon pursed his lips and nodded his head, "Hmm."

Jemma’s lips twitched. These both... looked comical.

She thought the topic ended there, but did expect that it would actually continue.

Helena said, "Look at Brother Vincent, for example. How far would he go if Sister Jemma lost even a single hair on her?"

Vernon continued nodding seriously, "Hmm. You are right."

Jemma was stunned. Why was she involved in this topic all of a sudden?

She raised her hand and flicked both their foreheads, "Why are you both pretending like I am not here, huh?"

Vernon and Helena rubbed their foreheads and stuck their tongues out in unison, mischievously.

Clearly, they intended to tease her when they said those words.

She shook her head helplessly. She saw Vincent coming in their direction and looked at him with a smile. "Vincent is coming. See how he will deal with you two after he finds you were teasing me."

"Oh no! I already said a henpecked husband is dangerous. And now my sister-in-law wants to prove to us that my brother is one of them? Don’t worry, sister-in-law. We both already know that. Not now or a day before but long long ago." Vernon continued teasing her while Helena nodded her head, agreeing with his words.

"..." So, now she shouldn’t even complain to her husband about them? What a dilemma!

"What are you talking about?" Vincent asked when he reached them.

Vernon and Helena blinked their eyes and shook their heads. They just looked at Jemma. The latter took a deep breath in anger. She shook her head as well but she did not forget to glare at the troublemaking couple.

Vernon and Helena grinned cheekily when they saw her shaking her head. They conveniently ignored her anger and glaring eyes.

Vincent looked at his wife and then at his younger brother and his wife. He could see that something was going on but he did not delve into it.

He understood that they were just playing around like they always did.

"Let’s go. We should meet some of the guests," Vincent said.

Jemma nodded immediately and grabbed his arm. She should stay by his side so that she wouldn’t be teased by this couple anymore.

Seeing her actions, Vernon and Helena chuckled softly.

"What are you laughing at?" Vincent understood that they were laughing at his wife and immediately glared at them.

"Ehem," They immediately behaved like obedient children and shook their heads, "Nothing."

"Are you coming or not?" Vincent asked them.

Vernon looked at Helena, who shook her head, "No, Brother Vincent. You take Sister Jemma. We have to meet someone else."

Vincent nodded. He did not ask them anything and took his wife away.

"Let’s go?" Helena asked Vernon. He immediately agreed and they walked towards Grace.

"Grace. Where are you going? The party had yet to start," Helena smiled as she called for Grace who almost stepped out of the venue.

Grace stiffened as she did not expect someone would notice her leaving or calling her at that specific moment of all times.

She turned back to face Helena and smiled, "Helena? What are you doing here? Aren’t you busy greeting all the guests?"

Helena smiled, "Of course I am busy. But that doesn’t mean I would let my friend leave, right? Where exactly are you going at this time?"

"I have something to do. I am sorry but I have to leave now," Grace said and then gave a nod to Vernon before turning around to leave.

"Hey, wait. What is happening? Is everything alright? Why are you in such a hurry?" Helena called her and asked again.

"Yeah. Everything is fine. But I really need to leave right now. Let’s talk later, okay? Bye." Grace greeted her in a hurry and turned around once again.

This time she did not delay for a second and fled from the venue as if she was being followed by a ghost.

It was clear she was scared that Helena would stop her again.

Seeing her fleeing back, Helena couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "I wonder what Minister Morris had done to her that she was running like that. I am really curious."
