Chapter 94: Naughty? Yes!
Chapter 94: Naughty? Yes!
"What did you do?"
"Huh? What do you mean?" Helena acted innocent and asked him back.
Vernon’s lips twitched, "Okay, stop acting in front of me and tell me what you have planned just now."
"Hehehe. You noticed? When did you become so smart?" Helena chuckled and asked back.
(Woah! She accepted it directly?) He was stunned for a second and continued looking at her, waiting for her explanation.
Jemma, who was standing with them, laughed out loud. She pinched Helena’s cheek and chided softly, "You naughty little girl."
"Sister Jemma, you understood as well?" Helena asked before sticking her tongue out.
"How could I not see your little acts? Anyway, that Grace looks weird. I always thought she was a good and sensible child. How did she turn out like that? You better be careful around her from now onwards. Do you hear me?" Jemma advised her seriously.
Helena took a deep breath. She bit her lower lip and nodded seriously.
Jemma understood what she was thinking. Even though what Grace had done earlier wasn’t a big deal, her actions were similar to that of an enemy.
Helena had always treated Grace as her best friend. Such actions from such a friend was akin to being betrayed by backstabbing.
Helena is obviously sad and stunned by this.
She hugged Helena and gently patted her back, "It’s okay. So what if you lost a friend? It isn’t actually you lost a friend. It’s her instead. She lost the greatest friend she could ever meet in her life. You on the other hand, lucked out. You found her true colors and could keep your distance from such a person and be safe."
Helena heard her words and hugged her back. She sniffled softly, "But, Sister Jemma. She has been my friend since I remember. How could she change so much after being with me for so many years? It is not like I have done something to her, right? Or have I done something wrong to her and I have not realized that? Am I a bad friend who couldn’t see through my friend’s pain?"
"Shhh!!!" Jemma caressed the back of her head while shushing her, "What nonsense are you talking about? Why are you blaming yourself for what she had done? Why are you so silly?"
"Seriously! I never knew you are this silly." Vernon spoke in the middle and both the women looked at him, breaking their hug.
"What did you say?" Helena looked at him with anger. Jemma could scold her for being silly but Vernon couldn’t.
Vernon scoffed, "Am I wrong? Why are you blaming yourself for the actions of others? If you are not silly, then what are you, huh?"
"You!!" Helena glared at him and raised her hand before turning it into a fist.
Vernon took a step backwards and raised both his hands in surrender. He did not dare to go against her, alright?
"You show all your power only in front of me. While, how did you handle that friend of yours, huh? She was going around trying to bring you down while you were acting all silly and siding with her in front of everyone," Vernon grumbled under his breath.
"You called me silly again?" Helena raised her fist to punch him once again but Vernon easily dodged it.
Vernon went behind Jemma to hide.
"You deserve a beating." Jemma pulled him forward by pulling on his ear.
"Sister-in-law. This is not fair. You all side with Helena all the time and leave me alone. I became so lonely, you know?" Vernon pouted while he placed his hand on her hand which was still pinching his poor ear.
"What can I do? When you like this, who will support you?" Jemma did not pity him at all and scolded him.
"But what did I do? It is not like I said something wrong, right? She should have someone to open her eyes," Vernon continued to defend himself.
"Of course you are wrong. Which eye of yours saw that Helena let Grace be and defended her, huh?" Jemma released his ear and asked him.
Vernon rubbed his ear to ease the pain while he looked at her, "Huh? Isn’t that what happened? Even Professor Jones said that, right?"
"That is why we call you silly and stupid. How can you trust what you see on the surface?" Jemma shook her head.
"Huh?" Vernon blinked his eyes. He then recalled the first question he asked Helena and asked it again, "What exactly did you plot just now?"
"I did what everyone calls two birds, one stone," Helena smiled.
"Huh? What do you mean? What exactly did you do?" Vernon was more confused by her words.
Jemma facepalmed herself. She asked him, "Didn’t you see the look Minister Morris gave Grace before he left?"
"Huh? He looked at Grace? I didn’t notice. But even if he looked at her, what is it?" He asked.
Helena punched him on the arm, "You, really! Did you forget how Minister Morris reacted when ’someone’ talked bad about his wife before?"
That ’someone’ was actually Helena herself. Since Jemma was there and she did not know what happened, she used such a discreet way to talk to Vernon.
Vernon immediately understood what she was talking about and nodded, "Yes. I remember." He then thought for a few seconds about why she brought that out and asked, "You mean, you want Minister Morris to deal with Grace? But why? Grace talked bad about Faye and not her mother, right? And Minister Morris never actually cared about his daughter as much as he did his wife, right?"
Even though it sounded a bit rude, that was how Minister Morris was and everyone knew about that already.
Helena nodded, "Yes. You are right. That is why, when I saw Faye’s parents coming towards us, I talked about how Grace praised her mother’s way of raising her while insulting Faye. Now, do you understand what I did?"
Vernon blinked.
