Awakening of the Scheming Wife
Chapter 92: Understanding? No!

Chapter 92: Understanding? No!

And Professor Jones nonetheless?

Grace’s entire body stiffened. There is no way she would have a good outcome if she compared her mother to Professor Jones.

Professor Jones is the only female Professor who has taught in almost all the top universities in the country. She was also the only female professor who was a candidate to become the Education Minister.

How could she compare her mother, who was nothing but a graduate but did not achieve anything more than that, to a person as almighty as The Professor Jones?

"No. I didn’t mean that," Grace trembled as she shook her head.

Helena looked from the corner of her eyes at someone and smiled. She grabbed Grace’s hands and nodded, "I know. You didn’t mean that. There is no way you would insult Professor Jones, right? You just did that subconsciously without thinking too much. I understand."

Grace looked at her and blinked her eyes. ’Isn’t she being a bit too understanding? What is she planning?’

She saw that Helena was looking at someone behind her back and had a bad feeling about it.

She slowly turned around to see who it was.

Before her head was completely turned, she heard Helena’s voice, "Minister Morris. Madam Morris, you are here?"

Grace stiffened. She did not dare to turn around completely anymore. She just stuck like that.

But she couldn’t stay like that forever either. She had no choice but to slowly turn her head and awkwardly smile while greeting the older couple, "Minister Morris. Madam Morris."

"Mom, dad," Faye greeted them with a smile and went forward to hold her mother’s arm.

Madam Morris smiled and gently caressed her daughter’s hair.

She then turned to look at Grace, "You are Grace, right? What happened? What did you say about me?"

"Professor Jones, Minister Morris, please forgive Grace for her words. She did not mean what she said." Helena answered instead of Grace.

"What exactly happened?" Minister Morris asked. Unlike his wife, he wasn’t smiling. His face was dark and he was gritting his teeth a little.

He was clearly angry for his wife’s sake. How dare someone scold his wife?

Everyone knows how much Minister Morris loved his wife.

Whoever was around them and had heard everything that had happened since the beginning stopped breathing as they looked at him.

"Umm.. Nothing. Nothing happened. Really," Helena said while shaking her head. But by how she repeated the words, it was very clear that she wanted to hide something from him.

Minister Morris looked at Helena, and his lips twitched. He raised an eyebrow at her, "Really? Then why did you say that she did not mean what she said, and we should forgive her?"

Helena smiled sweetly to his question, "I just thought that you heard something and would misunderstand what she said. But nothing really happened."

Minister Morris frowned. He felt that he wouldn’t get an answer from this lady anymore.

So, he changed the target and looked at his daughter, "Faye, you tell me. What exactly happened before we came here?"

Faye blinked her eyes. She turned to look at Grace and then at Helena.

Helena blinked her eyes back at Faye. The latter seemed to understand what she meant and gave a slight nod.

She immediately grabbed her father’s arm and smiled sweetly, "Dad, you know Helena and I are good friends, right?"

"..." He was stumped for words. He wanted to ask her: ’Since when did that happen?’ but he stopped himself.

Since his daughter started with those words in front of everyone, he understood that she had her reasons, and he nodded to go along with her.

Faye sighed in relief in her heart and continued saying, "As usual, Helena and I started bickering with each other. Then Grace asked me to apologize to Helena for my words, and she said that her mother had taught her good manners since her childhood."

As soon as she finished her words, both her parents instantly understood what exactly had happened. They also understood why Faye and Helena started to act as best friends out of the blue.

"Oh? Meddling between two friends and making one apologize to the other in front of so many outsiders. Is that the manners your mother had taught you, Miss Hedworth?" It was Professor Jones who asked.

The moment she heard that someone made her daughter apologize to someone, she was enraged. And Grace even hinted that Faye did not have the manners?

She knows her daughter. She was immature and would speak nonsense from time to time. But she would never do that to someone she wasn’t close to.

She also knows about Faye’s relationship with Helena. They had this weird love-hate relationship that no one understood.

On one hand, they will scold each other without caring about anything, but when someone else scolds or looks down on one of them, they somehow become one and destroy the other.

Even though she did not understand their weird relationship, she never meddled between them because that was how they always got along, and they never harmed anyone else because of their ’bickering’ or whatever they do is called.

Anyway, whatever they did, it had always been between them.

With what right did Grace get involved and even ask Faye to apologize?

If she had apologized in front of all the guests at the party, what face would Faye have had later?

She also understood that Helena helped Faye get out of this situation. So she smiled at Helena and gently patted her hand as a gesture of appreciation.

Helena smiled back and gave a nod.

"No... no... Professor Jones. That wasn’t what I meant. I never knew that Faye and Helena were friends. I just wanted to calm both of them before the argument between them grew bigger. That’s all. Somehow, the matter escalated and turned into this." Grace stuttered for a second before explaining herself. There is no way she would let herself fall in the eyes of everyone.
