But this hug was way different. This hug was filled with his fear, his care and his worry for her.

He had never felt this way for her. Maybe because she had hid everything from him, he never got the chance to feel all these feelings for her before this.

"Vernon? What happened? Are you alright?" He subconsciously hugged her tight, and Helena was worried and confused as she asked him.

"Mhmm," Vernon did not dare to speak. He was worried that his fear would be revealed through his voice if he spoke out loud.

No matter how much he hated her, he had been Helena’s husband for ten whole years. There is no way all his feelings for her would disappear just like that. When he found that she had suffered without his knowledge, how could he not feel bad for her?

He gave an awkward smile to everyone and whispered softly, "Let’s leave this area first."

They both walked backward in unison. There is no way Helena would come out in front of the others. Vernon wouldn’t let her, as well.

So, while shielding her, they worked as a team to walk step by step backward until they reached the end of the ’old people’s zone’.

Just when they were about to leave the zone successfully, someone hollered, "Where are you eloping to? We don’t mind you youngsters having a little more fun in front of us."

Just like that, the entire hall erupted into laughter.

Everyone forgot about their age and made fun of the new couple.

"Yes, yes. How can we be satisfied with just a hug? We need a kiss as well."

"Right. I couldn’t attend your wedding. So, I missed your kiss. Come on, now. Show me what you did at your wedding, will you?"
