Just like that, he was now in his wife’s arms as Helena held onto him so that he wouldn’t fall.

Helena wrapped her arms around Vernon’s torso and looked at Faye in anger.

[This woman. Didn’t she already have that creep, Leon? Why does she have to have her eyes on my husband? Vernon is mine and mine alone. I won’t let her look at him.]

After thinking that, she immediately spun Vernon so that now his back was facing Faye and Leon, while all she had to do was to shift her face from the front of Vernon’s body to his back, all the while still wrapping her arms around him.

Vernon was stunned by this sudden action, but because of her inner voice, he was able to stabilize himself in time.

He did not know if he should laugh or cry at his wife’s possessiveness.

But if she continued like that, how would she agree to his request for their divorce later? He was suddenly conflicted by this issue.

"You!! Why are you holding onto Vernon like that? You really are a parasite. Leave him," Faye grumbled and scolded Helena as she pointed her finger at the latter.

"I am hugging my husband. What is it to you? If you are jealous of me and want to hold onto someone, then go ahead and hold onto Leon. Don’t you dare to look at Vernon. He is my husband," Helena warned her.

Then, without waiting for Faye to say something, she dragged Vernon away from the crazy duo. She doesn’t want to spend a second more with either of them.

"Hey. Helena. Where are you going? Where are you taking Vernon?" Faye shouted behind her back but helena acted like she couldn’t hear anything and continued dragging Vernon far away from her.

"Helena. Where are you going?" This time, the voice belonged to Leon.

When she heard his voice, Helena felt that it was all more reason to escape them. She sped up with Vernon in her tow.

"We are away from them. They can’t catch up to us anymore," Vernon said.

Helena stopped walking and looked around. As he said, Faye wouldn’t be able to catch up to them anymore.

She breathed a sigh of relief.

Then, she looked at Vernon and asked, "What were you doing with Leon earlier? Why did you two come together?"

"Did you forget the event we came to attend? It is his birthday. Of course, I have to wish him first, right?" Vernon felt his lips twitch.

Helena pursed her lips and nodded. She knew he was right.

"Fine. But don’t stay alone with him too long later. He is scary," Helena warned him.

"What did he do to you? Why are you so scared of him?" Vernon wanted to laugh out loud when he heard her words but stopped himself and asked her in amusement.

Helena froze. She looked at Vernon. Slowly she shook her head, "Nothing. I just don’t trust him. That’s all."

Vernon nodded and did not ask much anymore.

But he suddenly heard her inner voice again.

[How could I tell him what Leon tried to do before? That creep! He tried to block me in the bar, surrounded by all his friends and did not let me leave. After fully drunk, he even tried to drag me into a room and molest me. If a kind passerby had not found me and rescued me in time, I don’t know what I would be by now. But how could I say something like that to Vernon?

With his innocent mind, he thinks everyone around him is as pure and as innocent as him. If I said this, I am sure all his world would shatter just like that. Sigh! Anyway, it happened a long time ago. There is no use even if I told him that anyway. let’s just keep it like that.]

Vernon, who was amused and tried hard to stop from laughing earlier, now froze.

Even a mature woman would be scared when facing such a thing. But she was just a young lady in her teens and yet she suffered so much.

He suddenly came to a realization about Helena.

The more pampered and childish she looked, the more mature she actually was.

He felt his breath hitch and he grabbed her hand.

Helena looked at him in confusion as she did not understand why he looked so different all of a sudden.

He pulled her arm and hugged her body.

Her petite frame snuggled inside his arms just perfectly.

He had hugged her many times in his previous life. But this time felt very different from anytime before to him.

This is different.
