Awakening of the Scheming Wife
Chapter 23: Scolded? No!

Chapter 23: Scolded? No!

The man did not reply immediately, but smiled mysteriously.

The friend was dumbfounded. He said, "Well, at least from your smile, I can be sure she didn’t reject you."

The man chuckled and shook his head, "Yeah, she didn’t."

"Then? She said yes immediately?"

"Yes, she did. But that wasn’t all. She said something else as well," The man continued with his mysterious smile.

The friend couldn’t help but be more curious when seeing his expression.

"She said Yes. Then she smiled softly as she continued to say that she had been hearing this violin music whenever she looked at me. From that, she knew that I was the one for her. I got so excited that I exclaimed that I heard that music as well. Just like that we got together," The man said his story.

The friend blinked his eyes. "What? That was sweet but is there really such a coincidence in this world? I never heard anyone else talking about this violin nonsense before. Yet you heard it and even that girl heard it?"

"Ha ha. Yes. It is pure nonsense, right?"

"Yes," The friend nodded subconsciously but suddenly felt something amiss and stopped before looking at the man, "What do you mean by that? You did not hear that violin music?"

"Oh, we did hear it, alright? After we started to date, we heard that music for days. No, it was actually weeks."

"Then? What happened? Where is the prank?"

"Wait for the story to end. Just like that, we reached our hundred-day anniversary. We thought of celebrating and went to a café near our school. Surprisingly, the café was empty with no other customers. We didn’t think much of it and thought we were lucky.

"Then suddenly, out of nowhere, we heard the violin music once again. But this time, it felt different. It felt more nearer to us than before. It was like someone was playing it right beside our ears. We were confused and looked around.

"Then, out of the blue, the lights went out. There were some decorative lights switched on. My best friend entered with a cake and our school’s music band followed behind him. I am sure you would have guessed by now. They were holding violins and were playing the same music that my then-girlfriend and I had been listening to for the past few months.

"Then slowly almost all the people I know from my school were there. I was sure that the café was too small or everyone would have been there. I heard that actually it was being broadcasted in our school live at that time so that everyone could watch it."

"..." The friend was shocked, "You mean that the violin thing was the prank made by the Second Master Jeffery? It sounds more like being your wingman than a prank on you, right?"

The man laughed out loud, "Ha ha. What do you know? We were in high school. How old were we? We weren’t even allowed to date. And our anniversary celebration was broadcasted in the whole school. Even the teachers had seen that. What would you expect had happened the next day to us? Both our parents were called to the school and the principal had lectured us for a few hours before we were let off."

"That was... wow," The friend did not know how to describe the ’prank’ at all.

To say it was cruel for letting him be punished by the principal, Vernon helped him get his girlfriend in the first place. From what she said to him when he proposed, it was clear that she fell for him with the effect of the violin music in the first place.

But to say that he was being a good friend to a random student in the school, he got the boy and the girl punished by the school.

"So, did you thank Second Master Vernon? Or did you scold him?" the friend asked him in confusion.

"Ha ha. Of course I thanked him. So what if I got scolded by my principal and my parents for a few days? I got the girl I loved to be my girlfriend. That was the most difficult part, alright? Since he helped me get my girl, I have to thank him." The man smiled in nostalgia as he recalled what had happened. It has been more than a decade since all that happened.

The friend nodded and smiled back. "It was really... Ha ha ha.."

"So, what is that girl doing right now? Are you still in touch with each other?" The friend couldn’t help but ask him.

"The girl? She married the man she loved. And now? Well... she is pregnant right now." The man smiled and answered.

"Wow, pregnant? Wait a second. Didn’t you say that the sister-in-law is pregnant? So, you both are pregnant at the same time? What a coincidence?"

"Are you stupid?" The man took a random tissue on the table, crumpled it into a ball and threw it at his friend. "Didn’t you get what I said? The girl is your sister-in-law. Idiot."

"What????" The man was beyond shocked for words as he shouted out loud. When he realized what he did, he placed his hand over his mouth and looked around in embarrassment as he softly muttered a few ’sorry’s at the other customers who were looking at him like he was crazy.

"You mean you married the girl you loved in your high school? Wow, then you must be really thankful to Second Master Jeffery even now, right?" The friend asked him in shock.

"Of course I am. So, when I heard that what had happened at their wedding was a prank made by him, I was shocked but also felt it wasn’t too shocking. I mean, he would do something like that. But I think his new wife didn’t take his prank as well as we all did," The man laughed out loud as he recalled how Helena pinched Vernon earlier while glaring at him.
