Chapter 81: Chapter 80 To Be Forgotten

(Back in the domain. Lucian’s Memory)

Little White sat beside Olivia’s unconscious body. He carefully wiped away the sweat that was dripping down her face with the edge of his sleeve. His brows furrowed in worry. It had been almost three hours since Eritrea had left. Why isn’t Olivia back?

He heaved, letting out a deep breath, his eyes locked on her sleeping face. His hand unconsciously traced along her face. He felt a strange sensation running down his spine; his hand froze.

"Beautiful," he muttered.

[SYSTEM ALERT]

Little White blinked mindlessly at the screen. "It had appeared again." His lips pressed into a thin line.

His expression suddenly brightened up. "Maybe it has a reward for me," he thought inwardly.

[Olivia is about to die. You have two choices: Save her or let her die.]

Little White’s brows furrowed, his expression darkened, his teeth gritting. He shot daggers at the screen before casting a soft gaze at Olivia’s unconscious body.

’What does it mean by that? Is Olivia in danger?... I have to save her.’ His heart raced in his chest.

"What do you mean?" His voice was a little pitched.

[I have no time for explanations. Choose one,] the system replied curtly.

"I want to save her," he replied at a speed faster than a heartbeat.

[The host had chosen to save Olivia.]

[Consequence: Olivia will forget about you, and you cannot reveal your past relationship to her, or else there will be a heavy price to pay.]

Little White blinked a couple of times to confirm if he was dreaming. ’What the heck did it say?’

"Don’t play tricks with me... How can you do that? I can’t live without her. How can I be forgotten?" Little White’s hand clenched, his nails tugging into his palms. His heart hammered in his ears.

[This is the price for saving her.] The system’s stern voice felt like nothing but a dream to him. A lump formed in his throat, his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down.

Little White felt torn from inside, but if this was the only way to save her life, then he was willing to be forgotten by her. His eyes stung, but he steeled himself, not letting a drop fall from his eyes.

[I would advise you to stay away from her. You shouldn’t be the first person she sees after gaining consciousness.]

"I can’t leave her alone," Little White growled at it. His eyes turned to a shade of gold.

[Your anger has nothing to do with me. Hmm... You can stay a few metres away. And lastly, your name is now Lucian Drakenhart.]

Little White stared daggers at the screen. "No, it’s Little White." He made emphasis on the words, his nose flaring.

[You wouldn’t want to trigger her memories, right? If I were you, stick to the plan.] The system’s cold and curt voice resonated in his head.

Before he could refute the system’s demands, the screen locked, disappearing into thin air. Little White yelled out in frustration, anger, and pain. He felt his heart bleed. His chest heaved up and down.

He took a deep breath. He weakly fell to his knees, his gaze lingered on Olivia. His sad eyes held pain and tears. He gently planted a kiss on her forehead. He stood up, his feet hesitant to take a step.

"I will find a way to make you remember me... I will always protect you." A single drop of red, fiery tear rolled down his cheek. Blood dripped from his palms; his nail pierced into his skin.

A stir from Olivia made him swiftly blur into the woods, taking cover behind a tree. He peeped at her. He saw her stir before waking up.

Little White waited behind the tree. He saw her consume the core. He was silently following after her when she had headed to the eastern part of the domain. A smile formed on his lips when he saw she was healthy and fine again.

When the Craughoul monsters had attacked her, he almost came out of his hiding, but he halted when he saw Klaus Reyes and his squad coming to her rescue. His heart turned green from bitterness. But he could not do anything right now. He couldn’t let her find him.

He followed them to the border of the monsters’ territory. He stopped when he was sure that she was safe. His eyes lingered on her body dangling on a soldier’s shoulder. His nails tugged into the bark of the tree he was hiding behind.

He could not follow after her from there, as he would be in the open. Tears streamed down his face. What was he going to do without her? And she doesn’t even remember him anymore? Those thoughts felt like a searing hot knife piercing his heart.

He only went back into the woods when he could no longer see her in sight. As he walked through the woods, this was the only home he knew until he had met her. When she picked him up into her pocket then, he was angry but at the same time curious and amused about what she was going to do to him.

But she had been the most beautiful thing that had happened to him. Now his heart felt empty. It was like he was drowning inside—the idea of losing her, of being the only one who had memories of their past.

He fell to his knees. He was dispirited, frustrated, and in pain. He clutched his chest. Why does it hurt so much?

As he was pouring out his heart, a ruffled sound snapped him back to the present. His eyes turned gold, his vision became sharper as he could see far and clear.

A figure blurred to his front.

Little White’s body tensed, ready to fight.

But the figure dropped to his knees, bowing before him. "My lord, your servant Dimitri is here at your service. Congratulations on your awakening," the figure said with respect.

Little White was left speechless.
