Chapter 139: Chapter 138 A Bounty on Your Head

Olivia quickly turned to the direction the shout was coming from. Her eyes widened. Eritrea wasn’t the type to lose her cool so easily, so what had she done this time?

Olivia stood to her feet. Her gut told her to run away, but yet, she walked towards Eritrea, following the sound of her voice. She needed to know what she had done to make her shout like this.

Olivia walked around, and then she finally found Eritrea pumping in anger. She could see the imaginary smoke coming out from her ears.

"Why are you shouting my name?" Olivia hesitantly asked as she walked closer to her.

Eritrea turned towards her. Her lips curved up in total anger and scowl. "When will you ever stop causing trouble?"

"I didn’t do anything," she answered blatantly.

"She didn’t do anything? You have the guts to say that?" Eritrea’s voice turned stern. Olivia could feel the hostile energy from her.

She unconsciously took a step back. Although they had had their own ups and downs, Eritrea had never been this hostile towards her. What had she done to cause this?

"Have you gone nuts?"

"I should be the one asking you that." Flames suddenly grew out from her palm in a whip form. "You really need someone to teach you a lesson."

Before Olivia could fathom the next thing, the whip was sent flying her way. Thanks to her fight against the monsters and her training with Stefan, she managed to quickly dodge the attack.

"Eritrea, stop!"

"You think I was sent here to keep cleaning up your mess?" Eritrea lashed out at her again. Her attacks became faster and more precise.

Olivia summoned her sword. She quickly blocked her attack, but the wind from Eritrea’s whip made her slide back against the ground.

Eritrea’s whip wrapped around her sword, momentarily putting them in a lock.

"Can you at least tell me what I did before you lash out on me?"

"Not knowing your wrong makes my blood boil more," she pulled back her whip.

She struck again, this time aiming for her leg. Olivia felt something warm and spiky wrap around her ankles. The next thing she knew, she was on the ground.

Before the blink of an eye, Eritrea was already on top of her. Then her fist connected to her face. Olivia spat out blood, her eyes turning gold momentarily.

When Eritrea wanted to strike her again, she held her hand. "Tell me what I did?" Her voice grew eerily low.

Eritrea panted as she looked down into her eyes. "What have you brought in here?"

"What..." Olivia’s mind wandered to the deal she had made with the monster. That means the monster’s child was already inside her sea of consciousness, and that might be what Eritrea was mad about.

But it was just a monster pup. What could possibly go wrong with that?

"You mean the monster’s child? I’m only letting it stay in my sea of consciousness because I made a deal with its mother. She gave me her essence, and I keep her child safe..."

Another punch landed on her face, splitting her lips.

Olivia felt anger in her chest. She immediately returned the punch, but her fist was caught midway. "You wouldn’t dare," a golden glint flashed through Eritrea’s blindfold.

"But you hit me first."

"Yes, because you are very stupid and dumb."

"What did I do to incur your majestic scrutiny, beating, and insult?" Olivia yelled back, unable to contain the annoyance in her voice.

Eritrea stood up. "Do you know what you have brought into your sea of consciousness?" Her voice turned calm and collected.

Olivia stood up to her feet, wiping the streak of blood from her lips.

"A monster’s pup?"

"Come with me." She didn’t wait for her before making her way to the area where Olivia’s core was.

Olivia inhaled sharply before following her footsteps, her hands tightened beside her.

When she got to the place, her breath hitched. She couldn’t believe her eyes.

A little white fox pup was enclosed in a white barrier, but that wasn’t what made her heart thump in her ears.

It was the amount of energy the baby monster was absorbing from her core. Olivia panicked. What was going on? What was this?

"Why is the bloody monster absorbing my essence?" Olivia’s voice went up a few pitches higher.

"This is a king frost fox monster, a rare and special creature. They need an abundance of essence right from their fetus stage to grow stronger. And guess what? Where could it find an abundance of essence if not your sea of consciousness?"

Olivia gritted her teeth. "But its mother transferred all her essence to me."

"Fool." Eritrea cut her off. "Have you not heard how sly a fox can be?"

Olivia remained quiet.

"The essence she transferred to you will all be used in nurturing her child. You think you hit a jackpot?" Sarcasm laced her voice.

"We can just get rid of the fetus, can’t we?" Olivia’s voice cracked.

Eritrea shook her head. "That will be impossible. I must admit the monster fox was really smart. She linked her child’s life force to your core. If you separate it from your core, your core will shatter from the backlash."

"We can only wait for the child to grow independent. Meanwhile, you are going to need to consume more cores," she added.

Olivia’s shoulders slumped. She tugged her head in frustration. She had really been a fool to trust a fox.

"Then we will wait for it to grow before getting rid of it," Olivia said, already getting worried about the need for her to consume more cores.

Eritrea chuckled out of frustration. "So you don’t know that you will be nurturing a time bomb?"

"What do you mean?"

"The king frost fox monster, like I said earlier, is a rare and special monster, desired by both monsters and humans." She paused, turning her head towards Olivia.

"You just placed a bounty on your head," she added.
